I've had some similar situations recently. If this happens I try to screw one side down just enough for it to thread, and then work on the other side. This keeps things flat and can help the other screw thread sometimes for me. This might not fix your issue but most of my problems like this are solved by using this method.

Fluvous reacted to keskparane in is it harmfull to set cpu fan speed at 100% all the time ?
    Pros:
Better cooling. (Although often 100% fan is overkill)

    Cons:
    More noise.
    Accelerated wear of fan.
    Faster dust build up.

I'm not sure if this is still an issue, but a while back they released an update that would use available RAM and (hopefully) spit it back out when needed elsewhere. I know a lot of people complained since it didn't always "spit" it back as hoped. They may have changed this it was a few years ago if I recall.

If you do this you wouldn't see much gain. In some cases you wouldn't see a difference. You'd be better off keeping the money in my opinion unless you found them for a strong deal.

Fluvous got a reaction from Gahlejm in PowerBricks Close Together. Safe or Not?
If you want to think about it from an "electrician's" perspective, I have mainly been taught that in order for something to arc like that you would need some very high voltages (for some period of time at least). I think that plastic housing they have makes it even more difficult for something like that to happen. As long as you don't have bare wires or the brick is cracked open it should be safe for the average user.

    Update:
I've decided to purchase a Bristol Ridge processor to try this. I would have just purchased a new b550 mobo, but I have use for the new processor in a side project as well. I will update after it arrives and I try it.

Fluvous got a reaction from dsong98 in Would love advice on my new PC parts! :)
1.) B550 seems to be very beneficial. They support PCIe gen 4, permit higher speed memory (one I saw went to 5000mhz I think), and will support Zen 3 processors (Ryzen 4000 series and likely more). Their official release date is in 2 days
2.) The 5700xt is a very valuable card for the price. If you plan on playing those games at 144Hz or 1440p it's probably a fair pick up, but if you have a 1080p 60-75Hz monitor you could get away with a cheaper card.
3.) The difference is very minimal. Pretty much all 3200Mhz 8x2 16 Ram is the same. I go for the cheaper options. If you get a b550 it could be worth it to get some high speed ram (or get that ram until a later upgrade).
4.) As far as game performance and SSDs, the impact is very small. SSDs will speed up loading times, but can also affect how fast models are loaded into some open world games (I don't think the games you have listed are affected.) I have the 250mb version of wd blue for my OS and a few games, and a 2tb drive for everything else. NVME SSDs are dropping in price so that is something to consider.
5.) Honestly too lazy rn to look up
6.) This one is cheaper with a higher max power (as far as I see)

7.) To put it simply, if your monitor is 60FPS, you could get the same effective frame rate with an rx580. The RX5700 XT would be nice for future proofing and if you want to update the monitor later.
8.) There are some cheap packs of rgb fans that you can buy for $35-$50. Might not be worth the upgrade if the case already comes with many fans, but if you need them added they are a good pickup.

Edit: 7.) A rx580 is a little bit of an exaggeration here. It can't run all AAA games at 60fps + high, but most can. A better comparison may have been an rx5600xt

The extra connector is meant for overclocking typically. The 3900x does draw a fair bit of power however, so if you have the extra cable it wouldn't hurt to add it.

Fluvous got a reaction from Hidomi in Gpu aio do they exist and where to get one? :)
As far as I can tell, yes. I haven't done much with water cooling however, so don't take my word on it.

Fluvous got a reaction from Twi5tedw3lsh in Higher benchmark than expected. Not sure to upgrade
Greater VRAM does have an impact, but it seems to only matter when the lower card hits the max. If you have both a 4gb and 8gb card using 3gb of VRAM, then the difference is negligible.
If you're happy with your current FPS and are just waiting for next gen, I would suggest picking up a x570 or b550 mobo. The b550's will be released by the 16th. They will support the 4000 series Ryzen CPUs and if AMD continues to invest in Zen 3 then it would include those processors as well. These new mobos also will have PCIe gen 4 and much faster memory support. The only downside is that the b550 would not support the 3200g. The x570 would though. It is possible I'm looking at an old source. There has been a lot of talk about "X" chipset allowing "Y" processor, so it might be possible that they will support it.

Overall, a mobo upgrade would likely set you up well to pick up the future Ryzen 4000 series, the upcoming RDNA2 GPU from AMD or the 3080/3090 from Nvidia, and some high speed ram if seen necessary. (Many need new PSU upgrade. These cards seem hungry.) If I had to guess there would be some lower end cards released at a close time to these as well.

Edit: This only applies if you are happy with your current FPS. A mobo upgrade won't help you too much to increase that.
