  1. Computer Science isn't only programming. You'd be surprised at the shortage of IT specialists. Cloud engineering, Automating, Sysadmins, Network engineers and many many more, depending on their capabilities and experience could prob find a job within a week. Computer Science studies are good, because you can touch the wider aspect of IT, therefore find what you like the most and focus on that side of IT.
  2. I suggest you check event viewer for critical errors under Windows Logs > System
  3. Its 2019, SSD is a must if you value your time and brain cells. Also why b350 board over b450? You can save some money by buying lower wattage PSU. I have the same be quiet, but 500 watt and im running 2600x / 980ti
  4. Try unplugging everything from your PC and hold power button for 60seconds to reset CMOS battery.
  5. I had the same problem with legion 720 series. It appears that this model didnt support M.2 , but did support M.2 NVME only. Try checking lenovo laptop model webpage for compatible SSD. I tried 3 different SSDs and only the NVME one worked. I went with samsung 960 nvme if I remember correctly. Edit: Parts PDF for your model - https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles_pub/ideapad_y700-15_17isk_15acz_touch-15isk_hmm_201510.pdf
  6. Try f.lux software Been using it at work lately
  7. No dual channel memory, old processor, old gpu. Replacing GPU sure would help, but it won't do wonders past 720p. Since you have an SSD, case and PSU already, you could look to spend another 200-250 to get ryzen CPU + new motherboard and dual channel RAM. This would make a big difference, however I dont know about your budget.
  8. I work as sysadmin/techie at ~400 user company and I got a ticket saying "I keep clicking the red button exit but nothing is happening, please help I cant use the computer". So I went to check out whats wrong with the computer, apparently someone sent the user a screenshot of desktop on skype and the user was trying to close the window inside the screenshot. Never laughed so hard in my life.
  9. Kernel 41 critical error - that is your problem. Sometimes tweaking settings solve it, sometimes its PSU. You can google out the error and see that it is very common.
  10. Great, gonna order the parts then do you think this could run 1440p 60hz gaming or I should stick to 1080p?
  11. Decided i've grown enough to build a PC myself. Would appreciate if anyone can review it and tell me if all the parts are compatible with each other. 12. Check event viewer for kernel power critical error 41. Been having issues with it lately on a couple PCs
  13. Play in bios with UEFI and LEGACY, one of them will work.
  14. I have the LG ultrawide you linked. I'd say it really depends on your desk and how much space you have on it. At home my desk is very small, so the monitor is more than enough. However, I have the same one at work with a big desk and for productive work it really is too small. If I was to buy a monitor again, id go for non ultrawide 27-32 inch 1080p. EDIT: Yes the ultrawide is cheap and great quality, totally worth the price. As for 144hz, the 3gb 1060 will not run games at that much FPS. Unless you're planning to play shooters like csgo there is no point going 144hz with that GPU.
