  1. I see, but there is no button with that BIOS Flashback Port... So I'm still not sure how it's supposed to work. Does it goes directly in the UEFI if there is no CPU?
  2. I only have the motherboard left to purchase to finishmy Linux build. It MUST be Mini-ITX. What I worry about is that I will have to make a BIOS Update. I never had to do one before. How do I know the current BIOS a have? Can I update the BIOS without a CPU on any motherboard? Country: Canada Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Light-Mild Gaming, Office Work and Programming. Other Parts: 8700G, 2x16Go 6000Mhz CL30, Samsung 980 Pro 2To.
  3. To begin with. I have 2 USB-C Flash drive and I would like to have the ability to copy from one to another.
  4. The USB Standard itself don't allow the use of Type-A port for anything above 3.x spec. With time, Type-C will rule everything.
  5. USB 4 and Thunderbolt can only use USB-C. Type-C ports are bound to become the preferred connectors for wired applications that need high bandwidth, whether it's a temporary or permanent connection. Type-A will never be more than a connector for keyboards and printers
  6. Hi and Merry Christmas. I'm currently in the process of building a new rig, and I find myself in need of some guidance. Specifically, I'm on the lookout for a Mini-ITX AM5 motherboard that comes equipped with 3 USB-C ports. This motherboard will be paired with the upcoming AMD 8700G CPU. I've been scouring the market, but it seems like a bit of a challenge to find the perfect match in the Mini-ITX form factor. The USB-C ports are crucial for my setup, and having three of them would be ideal for my peripherals and future expansion. Thanks
  7. Current and near futur VR options for Linux. How good is the experience? What about Wireless VR?
  8. After doing some more research, and because I can wait, I will go with a AMD 8700G with 780m IGPU. The 780m is a couple toime facter than Iris Xe and many many time faster than the UHD 770 of the 14700k-14900k.
  9. Hi, I'm looking for the best desktop CPU with the best integrated graphics. It's for a reallly specific purpose and a GPU won't work for me. I run Intwl Xe at the moment and they are goods but no desktop CPU as it and maybe there is something better. It's ok if the CPU is not out there yet because i'm not in a hurry.
  10. Does anyone know if the 14th Gen Intel Desktop CPU could have the Iris Xe architecture?
  11. Hi! I need a FLEX power supply for a really compact build. I do, however, have specific requirements and just can't find what I need. Fully modular, so I can remove unused cables. I must be able to create custom cables for it. More than 300W, so the FSP FlexGuru doesn't count. 80+ Gold or better. For aesthetic reasons, it should be painted black. Must be from a reputable brand.
  12. How about testing the new Dyson Vacuum Robot :)
  13. A thread should exist on the forum specifically for Hot Takes.... then it also make goods videos.
  14. So yes, the title says a lot. I need a laptop to replace mine, which is beat up. I want an i7-1365u because it would be perfect. I'm already familiar with the i7-1165G7. The problem is that they are not very common right now, and the few that are available are expensive. (I'm willing to pay $1500 CAD.) If someone knows of a specific model that will be released soon with an i7-1365u, please let me know. I also NEED: 1To Nvme 16Go Ram (ddr5 plz) Well built
  15. The other thing that seriouly bug me is how mobile hardware is always a shit-ton lot more efficient. If we compare a 3080 to a 3080m, the desktop use 2.5x to 3x more power on both the GPU and the CPU than the laptop with a 3080m. However, you only get a 30-40% increase in FPS. How can this be acceptable or possible to begin with? I have no idea.
  16. 2 Things: -I'm calling for Nvidia to stop the rise of power usage, for the sake of the environment. -I'm blaming Intel about not being able to beat the efficiency of the 3080, a +2 years old GPU.
  17. So I was thinking about the best possible route that Intel could take to get a massive market share in the GPU market. The truth is that Intel will probably never enter the top of the line GPU market with performance on the level of the 4080/4090 or their equivalent every gen anyway BUT... Intel could chose to become the reasonably priced GPU manufacturer that absolutely FOCUS on efficiency and performance per watt. (FPS per Watt and GFlops per Watt) We have to get real at some point: GPU are more powerful every generation but they also use more power. RTX 2070 --------- 175W -------- 6,497 GFlops ---------------- 37.13 GFlops/W RTX 2080 --------- 215W -------- 8,920 GFlops ---------------- 41.49 GFlops/W RTX 3070 --------- 220W -------- 17, 664 GFlops ------------- 80.29 GFlops/W RTX 3080 --------- 320W -------- 25,068 GFlops -------------- 78.34 GFlops/W RTX 3090 --------- 350W -------- 29,284 GFlops -------------- 83.67 GFlops/W RTX 4080 --------- 320W -------- 42,998 GFlops -------------- 134.37 GFlops/W RTX 4090 --------- 450W -------- 73,073 GFlops -------------- 162.38 GFlops/W This is unsustainable: Electric cost and scarcity is a problem that grow every year and we can now see with the 40 Series how bad this path is hardware-wise. So yes, I think that Intel should take that path and I hope that if they have not took that decision yet that this thread will become popular enough to catch their attention. Sadly, at the moment they seem to be behind what I was hoping for: A770 16GB ------ 225W -------- 17,203 GFlops --------------- 76.46 GFlops/W Somehow, I hope that this idea gain in popularity and this is the way that Intel choose to go.
  18. I just wonder how good Intel ARC graphics card are on Linux...
  19. Would like to seen wireless HDMI dongle tested on the cable tester.
  20. I know hat the most recent Intel CPUs only support dual channels but has this been a thing in the past? I mean, for Mini-ITX motherboard, where there is only 2 Ram Slot... Most of them are dual channels. So why do we have to get a big E-ATX motherboard with 8 ram slots to use quad channel?
  21. I'm really waiting for ATX12VO PSU and motherboard to become the norm but i'm afraid that it might never happen. what do you think.
  22. I'm likelly to do that, but I would like to have a sleeved cable.
  23. I see a switch only... not a button Then you have to make a button that fit that switch and then find way to secure these 2 parts to my custom case perfectly. Trust me... really bad idea. I just want a neat cable for my button.
