What do you currently have?  A lot of 2019ish CPUs are still more than capable of running with a new GPU at 1440p60.

Queen Chrysalis got a reaction from DeerDK in Should I sell my 5600x?
No.  The 5600x is still more than fast enough for almost any GPU at most resolutions.  Unless you bought a 4080  or 4090, it's fine.  You're overthinking this by a mile.  Just build your system and play some games.  You won't notice anything.  Years from now you may feel compelled to upgrade, and at that point you'll do it.  By then, the difference between a 5600 and 7600 will be negligible.

Queen Chrysalis got a reaction from BentleyOwen123 in Upgrade Plan
Which GPU do you want?  Unless you want a 5090 you can just get something now, it won’t be that much different.  Otherwise you won’t really see much benefit from buying all if this now.

Also, depending on your actual CPU needs, a 12600kf and a DDR4 board might bring your costs down a lot.  It’s fast enough for almost any current GPU at 1440p and you could just get a 2nd kit of DDR4 to get you to 32GB.

Queen Chrysalis got a reaction from RONOTHAN## in Is this a good build?
Yeha this looks fine.  I'd get a basic 32GB RAM kit for $15 more (SP gaming or such).  The brand on basic RAM doesn;t matter, just the specs.  That way you'd never have to upgrade, no need to match kits in the future.  you may also want wifi and bluetooth, the intel ax200 is aa chip you can pop int that motherboard for like $22 for WiFi 6 and BT 5.2.

This should not be a new PC.  Any old computer from the last decade will handle this easily and you'll spend $20.

The 12600kf bundle is gonna be the best deal for you.  It's aq fast chip and it comes with a really good motherboard.  Get an additional 16GB or RAM to go with it, they have tons of those G. Skill Ripjaws V. 3200 2x8 kits open box from people buying the bundles and returning the RAM.

Do you mind if I ask which micro center you are near?  You may bee able to get a really good deal on an open-box GPU and/or case as well.

On eBay, the 5700xts are going for pretty low and that’d be about the same as a 3060 or 6600.  You might be able to snag a 6700xt on eBay for a litte over your budget.

Queen Chrysalis got a reaction from Linuswasright in PC Build $1000 USD Budget.
If your microcenter has it, the $250 12600kf bundle might be a little more ideal for this budget, especially with how insanely GPU-intensive a lot of those games are.  This would get you everything new for your budget.  A used GPU would have you well under budget, or with a faster GPU.  You’d also have front panel type-C, which is nice if you wanna game with a dualsense.

The bundle only includes 16gb or RAM, but they probably have some RJV 3200 kits open box for like $25, as it’s among the most common RAM you’ll see.

Yeah second this op. Your build has a lot of wasted money on for example the cooler as this thermalright is literally just as good.

Only change I might make is opt for 6000mhz memory as amd does prefer that but it's not necessary.

Queen Chrysalis got a reaction from jre84 in is it okay to use 2x16 gb ram with 2x8gb ram sticks in the same motherboard?
Unless 32GB of RAM is insufficient for your use case (I’m almost certain it’s much more than sufficient if you’re upgrading from 16), you should sell that 16gb kit.  The computer will work better with only the two 16gb dimms.  Extra RAM does absolutely nothing if it isn’t needed.

Queen Chrysalis reacted to BahnStormer in is it okay to use 2x16 gb ram with 2x8gb ram sticks in the same motherboard?
I am really not sure how anybody is able to answer this without information about the CPU (i.e. memory controller) or spec of the RAM (timings).

Which CPU is this and what is the spec of each proposed memory kit you want to add?

In principle adding 2x8Gb sticks and 2x16Gb in the system will work just fine, but it is a question of what compromises you will need to make to get it to run.

Also, question if you will benefit from 48Gb RAM, especially if you need to slow the RAM down to get it to work: gaming = no, large file video editing = yes.

Memory Brand and size of each pair of sticks is largely irrelevant, it is the underlying hardware (supported timings) and memory controller (CPU) that matter - you can get those details using something like CPU-Z.

If the RAM timings are identical, it will probably work on Ryzen 5000-series or later, albeit you might need to find a compromise on timings....  but most Ryzen 5000 are running 3600MT/sec, so there's a risk that you're running an older CPU, where the memory controllers are a lot more fickle, even at 3200MT/sec.

e.g. On my old Ryzen 7 2700X, I had a lot of trouble when I tried to add 2x 3200MT/sec sticks to my original 2x 3200MT/sec sticks and getting the RAM to run at the rated timings (3200MT/sec 16-18-18-36).

These were visually identical 16Gb Corsiar Vengance LPX kits (each was 2x 8Gb, with identical ratings).

The problem was that Corsair had decided to cut costs and downgraded from really high spec Samsung B-die on the first few generations of those memory modules to SK Hynix modules that only JUST met the spec. The memory controller on the CPU was struggling to blend together what were two very different sets of memory modules, even at the rated speeds.

I ended up with a choice of running the old 2x8Gb at 3200Mhz 16-18-18-36 timings (or a lot faster with some tuning!)... or the "new" kit at the rated timings (no more!).... or both together at a compromise speed 3133Mhz or CL18... with CL18 being MUCH slower for gaming!

I tried these again once I had upgraded to a Ryzen 5000 CPU, which seemed to handle the slightly "mixed" RAM at the advertised speeds a lot better, but I'd already decided to swap for lower latency memory by then anyway.

I read later that there were a lot of upgrades to the memory controller from Ryzen 2000 to Ryzen 5000.... not sure where Ryzen 3000 sits on that scale though.

This.  And let us know country, budget and use case as well.  Off hand, I’m gonna say the split drives are unnecessary these days, just partition one large SSD.  The 4060 and 1660 are kind of weak compared to how much it seems your spending on these PCs if these are for gaming.  Those fans and that RAM are also kind of a waste of money when you’re only getting those GPUs.

laughably and pathetically weak for these builds

a 4070 should be in place of that crappy 4060 (or atleast a used 3080) and a used ~200$ 6700xt in place of that ancient ~100$ 1660s that belongs in a 500$ budget build

just specify country alongside each builds budget and usecases cause these 2 builds are clearly quite different budget wise
