  1. Thanks for your input! Upon going to the system configuration, I found that normal setup was already selected. I hit ok and restarted anyways but of coarse system restore was still an option. Any guesses? Sorry for late response.
  2. by put I mean try to install, put the disc into the computer. The windows 10 is my windows 10 from when I installed it on my own personal rig. I ran the setup in windows 7. Meaning I booted windows 7 and than ran the disc like a regular program. I also told the setup to erase everything from before.(my neighbors information). Oh and how come, upon boot, it still asks if I want to boot win10 or system repair? I am thinking it still detects win7 and wants to use it. Thanks!
  3. So I have an OEM windows, on my own PC, which I believe means the activation code is tied to my motherboard and if i change it, I have to buy windows. I recently received a computer from my neighbor with windows 7. I plan on giving to my cousin to upgrade. I couldn't find a way to reset it without the installation disk so I tried to put windows 10 on and use the code on the sticker on the case.(Which is for windows 7) Because of this article. here But it hasn't asked for the code since and I hope my code wasn't tied to the disc. Windows opened fine. I believe it may be because it isn't on internet, but MY build wasn't hooked up when I installed it and it asked. I fear that microsoft will see my code on 2 pc's and terminate my windows. What happened here?????? Thanks
  4. Thanks for the advice. I probably should have mentioned that I don't plan to 144Hz in all games, just e sports games. Other games such as skyrim I will go graphics over fps targeting 50-60.
  5. I know ultra wide will be more immersive for games as it takes up more field of view but 144Hz looks better in its own way. Mostly I am comparing these 2 monitors to buy https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824025212 and https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIACVB7176894 I know one is ips but that doesn't mean its better because there are different back light qualities? Isn't VA still good? Also how nice is the curvature of the small one? The regular sized panel is non glossy but the ultrawide is reflective: is this a big difference? FYI I mostly play games and have a 1060 3gb with ryzen 3, 1300x. Thanks!
  6. So I have my mouse and keyboard in a drawer under desktop with my monitor and tower. (Don't worry the drawer is made for such a use and is works really well.) I currently I have cheap wireless mouse and soon will be getting a nice wired one. I want to get a mouse bungee, but my drawer only allows things 2 inches tall, so none can fit. What if I got this to use as bungee and stuck it to back of floor of drawer?https://www.amazon.com/Cable-Clips-Management-Nightstand-Accessories/dp/B00NVKHLP8/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?ie=UTF8&qid=1527041409&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=cable+management+clips&psc=1 Thanks in advance!
  7. thanks for advice
  8. I am looking at this monitor. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824011162 I know VA has better colors. How noticeable is it? Also there are worse response times, but these are color changing speeds not delays - so not as important. And I heard that anything less than 5ms is unnoticeable. Thoughts? I wont be using amd freesync. Will that make it look worse? Curved was unintentional just bonus. Should I invest in 27inches? I know the pixel density won't be as good, especially in my close viewing. Am on budget. Thanks!
  9. I think i've decided to go with a 1080p monitor but high refresh rate like 144Hz. I have been told and believe that screen size does not make a game look good as much as frame rate does.(I am aware it is less noticeable past 100fps). Also my smaller desk space would probably be crampt with a giant monitor, although it does fit.(My desk is part of a loft bed, so in confined space underneath bed) I am only unsure of TN pane vs VA. Think I might create separate forum. I know there are good color differences and that anything less than 5ms response time is unnoticeable. Because it isn't delay, just color. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824011162
  10. Okay, all questions finally answered! Thanks so much:)
  11. I suspected so, but good to have proof However with some googling my cpu can only get about 60-80 fps in more cpu demanding games like fallout 4. But my biggest concern is that when I go back to 60hz (playing a more demanding game) It will seem uncomfortable. What do you think?
  12. Thanks for advice! If I get 1080p, then should I consider 120Hz/144Hz? I only have ryzen 3 1300x, so I think it may be a bottleneck in some games with 100+ fps goal in mind. I would be willing to get 60fps in more demanding games and 120+ for esports and lesser games. But I hear that once you go 120hz, you never go back- I think I would rather just have 60fps in all games instead of hating it when i cant get 100+. (I dont know what I'm missing) But I think I should get 75Hz for a little edge in esports games. Is there much of a noticeable difference?
  13. Yes my mouse is not very comfortable: fingers drag on pad. So have adjusted to more of a claw grip but still... Thanks!
  14. They say 1440p only allows bigger screens with the same pixel density. But if it is a bigger screen as a whole and more total pixels shouldn't you be able to see the finer details? For example in 1080p is 2,000 pixels and is now 3,000 pixels in 1440p: so you can see the surfaces of the object and it has finer edges. ( i know my math is wrong but you get the idea) Also I am okay with overclocking my 1060 (for 1440p) but will it get me a noticeable difference safely? And i know I have enough vram for no aa in all games and some aa in a few - do I need aa for 1440p? I have heard 1440p is more accurate for fps games, but I can't find any other sources agreeing - thoughts? Thanks In advance
  15. Thanks for the advice! I have a 1060 3gb by the way. Still deciding 1080p or 1440p, and sit about 16-20 inches from my monitor most of the time. I know my GPU will struggle in 1440p a little but am okay with a little overclocking. Just dont think it would do ultra, especially with future games.
