Scarlett Solo if you want something similar to the UM2 but of higher quality + native ASIO support:

Yamaha AG03 if you want to get some real control over your mic and PC audio:

If within your maximum budget I would highly suggest the AG03, as stated before it gives you next level control of all your audio. You can adjust the volume of your PC, Mic, and more on the fly while the volume perceived by the computer remains unchanged. Very easy to connect an additional PC or device, multiple ways to connect a headset (3.5mm or 1/4), several awesome input options (just channels 1+2, total mix, or even loopback), and much more. Also allows for compression, eq, and effects via software if you desire. All and all a great mixer / interface. I have tried just about every other mixer below this one in price and never had a good experience, some of them don't even direct all inputs to the phones. I have Incorporated this mixer into several builds for friends and it has been nothing but good experiences.

Ok I will look into that sound mixer, thanks!

The at2020 XLR is cheaper than the blue Yeti in a direct comparison, so I assume you mean more expensive because the additional interface that is required to run it or what?

You definitely have more control with a XLR mic as you can run it through all sorts of physical compressors, noise gates, EQs, expanders, etc. before it even hits the actual input. Technically you could do this with the Yeti too if you used it's direct monitor port but most would advise against that, not really the intended use. The Yeti has some interesting features like bi-directional and omnidirectional pick up which makes it better suited to pick up multiple sources at once, but for single use I think the at2020 has an edge when paired with the right soundboard or interface (I do believe it sounds better in general). I ran with a blue yeti for several years and only outgrew it when I wanted an interface with more features, not necessarily a new mic, although I would argue at this point in time that dynamic mics are superior voice chat and commentary.

All depends on your use case and if you want to take things up notch, I believe the Yeti cuts it for most people and their needs.

Alright, do you have any idea what audio interface would be good with the at2020? I was thinking getting a behringer um2 to save some money, but I think the extra money spent is worth a better interface.

It really depends on how much you want to/are able to spend and how high a quality you want the audio to be.

The Scarlett would work for headphones, providing they are not of too high impedance. From a quick online search, it seems they are not to be used with headphones greater than 250 ohms.

Have you decided on a set of headphones yet or are you still undecided on which ones to get?

I am thinking on getting dt990's or dt 770's

  4. I am going to get a new microphone, but I cannot decide between the at2020 xlr mic or the blue yeticaster bundle. I like the yeticaster because it is just plug and play, but I have read some articles that I will not be able to do much with the mic sound, compared to the xlr mic. It would be more expensive with the at2020 xlr mic, but in the end I would have more control of my microphone sounds. What suggestions would you have? My budget is about ~$200

I'd say if you can afford the slightly higher price, go for the Focusrite Solo (Or even the 2i2 for future expansion) as it will have a higher quality than the cheap DAC in the mutimix as that is primarily a mixer and not an audio interface, as well as lower latency with the Scarlett.

If you are also wanting some software routing/patching; VoiceMeeter / VoiceMeeter BANANA are great programs for this, solid perfomance and full of features, free of course.

Would it be good to use the Scarlett as a amp/dac for the headphones or a separate amp such as the e10k?

  6. Hi, I am going to be using a at2020 xlr microphone as well as either dt 990/dt880/ k7xx I am not exactly sure one which pair of headphones for gaming and music listening. I was thinking that which interface would be better to use with my audio equipment. An Alesis 4 channel mixer (MULTIMIX4USBFX) or the Focusrite Scarlett Solo for my mic and amp as well. Which one would be better, and would it be a good idea to go that route?

  7. I have dt 880 pro 250 ohm edition, and a blue yeti usb microphone. I was pondering how would I get mic monitoring if the dt 880 pro need an amp to function properly, and the blue yeti is usb. Would it be better to get a xlr blue yeti and use a mixer? or how should I do it?

  8. I am going to be purchasing some new headphones and microphone soon, and I was wondering if these would work together well..

    A Audio-Technica AT2020 with a Alesis Multimix4usbfx.

I Was also thinking of getting either dt880 pro 250 ohm version,  dt 990 pro 250 ohm version, or massdrop x akg k7xx headphones.

I am not sure which would be the best in terms of gaming as well as music listening and movie watching. Thanks!

  9. So, I am going to be buying a pc build soon and I wanted to have everything ready for when I have the money to buy the parts. I was wondering if there's anything I could change to it that would maybe bring the price down, or if it were be better.
