Honestly, go with the HD 6xx. Having heard both the K712 and the HD 650, the Sennheisers generally just sound much better. The AKG house sound trends too much towards the high end, being extremely analytical and cold. The 650s- which the 6xx are essentially a clone of- just sound better because they're warmed up around the bottom where the K712 doesn't have any presence.

To be completely honest, the K712 might be .02% better for super sound-whoring, but generally speaking the HD 6xx will be 100x better for literally everything else. Not to belittle, but especially since you asked the question, I'm going to assume that you're on the casual side of audiophile, where the 6xx's signature with more warmth in the lows will appeal significantly more to you.

Okay I will go with the 6xx. Thank you!

  2. I have come to the conclusion of many questions asked and answered that my best bet of headphones is either the hd6xx hd 58x or akg k712 pro. Which would you recommend and why? I play lots of "Competitive" games. Mostly games like csgo. My budget is under $200. (I have a buddy that'll sell me some k712 pro for $200)

  3. Hey, I've seen multiple people use their headphones such as dt 990 250 ohm and plugging them right into the audio jack on their computer. Is that enough to power the headphones, that way I won't have to spend the extra money on an amp/dac, if the mobo can drive the headphones properly? Also wanted to know what would the best headphones for fps games where footsteps help you find where your enemy is. My budget is about $400 for the headphone and amp/dac. I was thinking of getting the dt880 pro as well as a schiit stack. I am open to any suggestions. :)

Do you already own the SM7B the reason I wasn't factoring in the total shipping cost is because it would be shared between the items as far as I know.

    SM7B + Scarlett Solo + shipping = 475

    SM7B + AG03 + Shipping = 493

Definitely more of a decision if you already own a SM7B, if you weren't planning on using the AG03's features at all that's 40% savings. Although I still think you'll have a worse noise floor with the Solo.

No I don't own the SM7B yet, I wasn't thinking about it that way. I will go with the Ag03 since all of its features as well the comp and effects. Thank you!

You could, yes. It might be worth having a CL1 with any of those interfaces.

Personally what I would suggest (if you're set on a 7b) is probably a Presonus audiobox, and then use something along the lines of voicemeeter for EQ and dynamics. I suggest that over the AG03 as you have direct control over detailed EQ rather than having to use the software for the mixer to alter any settings. You also have the ability to route any other audio you may want to the same output. You keep the ability for direct monitoring (through the audiobox), but you don't need as much physical space as you would with a mixer.

Okay, I will keep that in mind as I make a choice on which interface/mixer to get. Thank you!

You will see many forum posts suggesting use of EQ with the SM7B, it doesn't work best with everyone's voices flat.

But even without thinking about that, the AG03 is only $103 on Thomann brand new, if you bought the SM7B and the Scarlett Solo on Thomann (which is still cheaper than amazon) you'd only save $18. The AG03 is the clear winner in functionality, it also has a much better noise floor than the Scarlet 2i2 which I owned for 4+ years before upgrading to my Fireface UC.

Well worth the extra $18 IMO, of course in the end the choice is yours.

Oh okay, thanks for the clarification about EQ with the mic, but I'd actually have to spend more $137 due to shipping which is a whopping $35. Sorry in advance if i'm asking the same thing multiple times, but is it really worth the extra $40?

    Personally I believe the AG03 +  the SM7B and a CL-1 is a great option.

Yes, the mixer can do all of those things, but what would be the benefit from going with a ag03 vs a scarlett solo? I know it has EQ and compression, but I can't really justify spending about $40 more just for EQ and compression(Which is what I will most likely actually use).

Whether or not you 'need' a cloudlifter is dependant on the gain range of the pre-amp you use. Because the sm7b isn't the most sensitive microphone you need more headroom in the pre-amp to get the signal to a useful level. If a mixer (or interface) doesn't have the required headroom (which can cause issues, especially in live situations) then you can use a cloudlifter to provide additional gain.

The SM7B is a dynamic capsule, so going directly into a mixer/interface you don't need anything special (and you don't need to turn on phantom power). If you use a cloudlifter (which is active) you would connect the mic to the input of the CL1, the output of the CL1 to the mixer/interface and you would need to make sure that phantom power is on. All connections would be xlr.

If you don''t need the other benefits of a mixer (multiple sources, multiple outputs/busses, in-line EQ/dynamics...) then yes, you could go straight into an audio interface. Personally I would suggest not spending $400 on a microphone and less than $50 on the pre-amp/interface, I would probably suggest either a focusrite or presonus interface instead, the model depending on what inputs you need and what protocol you want to connect it with (thunderbolt / USB / firewire).

So what I could do instead of the AG03 is go with a scarlett solo or 2i2, but would the Cloudlifter be useful for any of those 3 mixers/interfaces?

  9. I was thinking on getting a SM7B microphone as well as a yamaha ag03 to power it, but then I saw that the CL-1 Cloudlifter is really recommended for the mic since it is a dynamic mic. How would I set up the microphone to work properly, as well as would I need a mixer at that price, or could I get a um2 and save around $100?

Edit: The reason I am getting a dynamic mic is because my home is very loud most of the time, and I do not want the mic picking up much of the sound.

Hey, good case choice! Be careful to not tip the case over when building in it. It isn't stable when the panel opens while the case is empty

I suggest Noctua or BeQuiet (140mm) for some good cooling performance and silence all inside a Fan Hub; I recommend the thermaltake commander FP.

But, if you wanna go RGB then check out my guide in my signature below about the different ecosystems. I'd personally go for the ENERMAX ecosystem
I plan on adding the deepcool and Halo ecosystem tomorrow!

    Good luck!

Regarding BeQuiet, which fans should I get then? Because I see they have multiple models of fans, ex: Silent Wings 3 and Pure Wings 2.

  11. Hi, I was thinking on getting these keycaps which in short story are see through doubleshot keycaps which will allow the rgb of the keyboard I want to get to look even better. Would there be a problem since its not per key backlighting? Or, would there be a better keyboard to pair the keycaps with?

    See if this helps:

I've started the video where he's talking about PS4 specific things. Since its working in party chat its basically a software issue (meaning Fortnite) so I am not sure how else to help :(

Thank you! This helped me out.

  13. Hi, I have a mod mic 4 with the mute attached to it. When I use a Y adapter to plug into my controller, the microphone picks up my voice clearly and people can hear me in parties on PS4, but If I use the mic on a game for example fortnite, it'll still pickup my voice when I try to change the volume, but it does not give my mic audio to the game, meaning that other people can't hear me, this also happens sometimes on PC as well. Do you have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Ah okay, I thought that was what you meant but I have learn't to never assume as people can have some funny ideas about how things can be networked. ;)

I see no reason why that wouldn't work.  You are talking about a pretty simple system.  Although if you are using an access point at the destination anyway, would it not be simpler to skip PoE?

Ah, the acess point im getting is the one without the injector, because I also want to have a pc or 2 back there as well, and the switch would be good for it.

What do you mean router to cable to underground?  Surely it should be router straight to underground cable?

Also make sure its underground rated or the sheathing will likely just perish.

What I meant was the cable would go from the router to the underground my bad. Its also going to be in PVC piping not just straight up run a cable in the ground under me.

  16. I am going to get a new mouse soon and I have come to the conclusion that I will be choosing either the Steelseries rival 310 or the Corsair m65 pro rgb. Keep in mind that I am coming from a Razer deathadder chroma. Which mouse would be better in terms of fast paced games where aiming is key to winning?
