  1. I checked the usages using Task manager and GPU-Z and I noticed that cpu usage in NV was around 50% - 70% while GPU load was all over the place but usually higher than CPU except for some spikes where it would dip to 30, 50 or 60. I think if the GPU load was consistently lower than CPU usage that would mean my cpu was bottlenecking it. My MSI GeForce GT 610 was pretty cheap when I bought it from Amazon last year so it’s likely bad. I mean so cheap it’s borderline shady.
  2. My previous GPU was an integrated GPU that came with the board. A game like Minecraft on the old GPU, I’d only get about 20fps with Optifine. With the one I have now it used to get 100+ fps on max settings but now struggles to get 45 on the lowest settings even with Optifine. And if there’s a solution in the BIOS somehow, I can’t do it.
  3. As the title states, I’m having an issue with my gpu where in a few games, the gpu load changes very frequently if I use any of the in game controls and I’ve been able to link this rapid changing to the lag spikes I keep experiencing. I can’t provide screenshots right now since I’m on mobile. I’ve been having internet troubles for the past few days on my PC. In Fallout NV, Terraria, Clone Hero, Minecraft and Garry’s Mod, I have this issue and i’ve had it for the past half year. I have some not-so-good hardware anyway, but these are all games I shouldn’t have any trouble with. CPU: AMD Athlon II X2 220 2.8 GHz GPU: MSI GeForce GT 610 RAM: 6GB DDR3 OS: Windows 7 (x64) SP1 I know I have bad hardware but these are all games I didn’t have issues with until a few months after getting the GT 610. Before that, I had no fps issues at all. In NV my framerate drops way more than it should. I’ll be getting a new GPU soon but I want to know why this even happened.
  4. Edit: Reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015 fixed the issue
  5. Yes, you can remove GeForce Experience, in fact I recommend never installing it again. I've been able to link high disk usages with GeForce Experience hiding under the "System" process in both Windows 8.1 and Windows 10. I always just check the NVIDIA site each month for new drivers. The only thing you'll really be missing out on is Shadowplay, but you can always get OBS instead.
  6. I don't know if this goes here but I need help. I'm getting tired of this error I keep getting. Any time I try to install a program that relies on VisualC++ 2015 Minimum Runtime, I always get the same error: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." Please help, I need this for SketchUp! I heard of a registry fix but I don't know where in the registry to go. Whenever I go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Classes > Installer > Products it just gives me a list of random numbers and letters, and I don't know which one to use. Trying to find anything in there starting with 0D3 like in the path in the error, no such folder exists. I've also been able to confirm that the Windows Installer service is running. After closing the installer, I'm met with this error: Component Visual C++ "14" Runtime Libraries (x64) has failed to install with the following error message: "Fatal error during installation. " The following components failed to install: - Visual C++ "14" Runtime Libraries (x64) See the setup log file located at 'C:\Users\[REDACTED]\AppData\Local\Temp\VSD2BB6.tmp\install.log' for more information.
  7. Yeah, I admit that was something I was not looking forward to hearing. Hopefully with a more powerful system though, I can actually use Windows 10 without a near constant 100% cpu usage (Then again, I had the anniversary update known to be the worst update ever, and the fall creators update Windows 10 might not be as tough on my system as the AU was.) That's mainly the reason why I use 8.1 right now :\ Can't wait to go back to Windows 10 though, as many problems as it gave me, I still miss it. But enough about that, SSD's from what I've seen so far are pretty expensive depending on the one you get (usually around the $300 dollar range.) Which SSD do you recommend I install the OS on? Also, will load times be better in games if I install them on a hard drive while the OS is on an SSD?
  8. My current or the suggested? I tried looking into updates for the current, I have the latest, having been released in 2011 (Just joking, I'm pretty sure you meant the one you recommended.) Also, thanks for the recommended parts. I've got these written down too. I'll most likely use both the 500GB I have now and the 2TB that was recommended to me, but the thing I'm worried about is, if I get these new parts, would I have to reinstall Windows? I'm hoping I don't have to install GTA 5 for a third time and that Windows 8.1 will be nice to me :\ I could always buy the hard drive first and copy all of my steam files over to it, but oof, I'd have to let it sit overnight to finish that. I mentioned having about 113GB free on my drive. All of that space is mostly taken up by games. The files I actually have on my PC that aren't games are only about 13-14GB in size :\
  9. Thanks, I have these written down now. That Seagate Barracuda would help quite a bit and I imagine it'd be a pretty decent sized upgrade over the current one I have, which is the Seagate Barracuda 7200.11 (500GB) I only have 113GB left
  10. I have a Corsair CX 600. It's a 600W PSU, is that good enough or should I go higher in the future? Also, as for the ASrock Pro4, I have that written down and I'll look into that one. The case I use is a Corsair Carbide Spec-04, a big upgrade from the Rosewill FBM-01 I used to use, though I mainly switched to the Spec because I couldn't cable manage with the FBM.
  11. Yeah, that makes sense when I think about it. I'll just have to wait another year until I can get a job and start earning my own money, it seems. I'm still not sure about GPU's, and whether or not they have a specific type though.
  12. For a while now, I've been trying to turn my old PC into a proper gaming PC, and I've got a few parts bought and put in already including a 600w PSU. The thing I want to upgrade next is my processor. I currently have the AMD Athlon II X2 220, a dual core processor running at 2.80 GHz. I've been searching for a few good processors that are AM3 compatible but I can't seem to decide what to choose and what would even be worth my money. What processors would you guys recommend that are at least quad core at 3 GHz or higher and under a hundred dollars if possible? I also have a GeForce GT 610 that I want to upgrade, but the problem is I don't know if any graphics card will just work in any system provided the board and power supply are capable of handling it, or if there are specific kinds of graphics cards for specific kinds of motherboards, much like how RAM can be DDR3 or DDR4, for example. Any idea on how to find out what will work in my board?
