  1. I have the z370-e board and a nhd-15 and it fits no problem
  2. Not super intensive. Sometimes virtual machines for windows. For now pretty light workload I just want it to be fast. I sometimes have a ton of tabs in google chrome so alot of ram will help. Sometimes I might use it for light game development but not much. I mainly interested in using the laptop to learn low level programming and use it with Linux. I would appreciate if it would have easily replaceable parts and support for multiple drives. The less sutured the better. My main home computer will be used for all my intense workloads but laptop mainly for school and linux and light virtual machines. High resolution monitor would also be nice for my intense multitasking so minimum 1080p.
  3. Hello everybody. I have already a really high end desktop computer. I am looking into buying a laptop this month, my location is in Canada. My maximum budget is around $1000. I am looking for a laptop that has a ssd (does not matter if it is sata or NVME) Though i would prefer it to be with an easily exchangeable drive Need to be reliable Have a somewhat decent cpu Minimum 8gb of ram (Upgradable would be nice) Needs to be decent for workloads like virtualization Needs to have good compatibility with linux Have a decent wifi card (If not decent then replaceable) Good battery life A good gpu like a Nvidia GPU would be nice, though it is not completely necessary for my workloads Laptop will be mainly used in school, and many location so should not be too heavy. Any recommendations would be nice
  4. I have this problem that occurs on literally every linux distro that I tried to install (Fedora, Ubuntu, Arch, and many others). I am pretty new to the linux world and I am interested in moving away from windows to Linux due to a lot of annoying problems in windows and because I wanna be in control of everything in my pc. I get this problem on my boot screen everytime i boot linux from a usb stick installer or when I actually boot from a hard rive that has linux installed on it. My systems specs are: i7 8700k Asus z370-e sasmung 970 evo ssd 850 evo ssd AMD RX 580 8GB GPU The settings I changed in bios inorder to try to fix this was: Disable fastboot Disablle secure boot and change boot option to other os Disabled ASPM (Was disabled by default) Disabled asus MCE Try 4g decdoing off and on Tryed CSM off and on Non of this fixed the issue I heared from alot of threads that this issue can be fixed by going to grub and turning aspm off or disabling the error reporting in boot. The reason why I dont want to alter my grub menu settings is because I want to actually find out the root of the issue, and how to fix it properly. Does this mean my computer has a problem because windows 10 runs great?? Do I need to wait for a bios update?? Is this normal on the coffelake ?? I know it is alot of question but it would be nice of you to really explain to me how to fix this!!!
  5. My forza horzion 3 is not even launching on amd rx 580 and i7 8700k and 16gb of ddr4 2400mhz ram??
  6. I am just wondering what AMD drivers are you running right now?? The optional  ones or the recommended ones ??

    1. Stefan Payne

      Stefan Payne

The Optional ones, though I play mostly on consoles right now.

But use console atm mostly because of Spider-Man.

  7. I have an amd rx 580 sapphire special edition. Forza Horizion 4 is running great no problems but Forza horzion 3 is just eating up all of my 16gb of ram and not launching. And AMD has caused me a ton of issues with driver bugs, for example I had an issue that when my amd gpu was stuck at max core clock after running specific application (Yes after closing them) and the gpu would stay hot at around 60 celcius unless I rebooted pc or disabled the amddvr.exe things that they use for relive. I believe that bug is fixed by now. I had a nvidia gtx 980 which ran great and never gave me no stupid problems. But in terms of performance I am really happy with the rx 580. I am not trying to start any war I just personally have not had a good experience with the AMD GPU's. My NVIDIA GTX 980 EVGA FTW Edition unfortunately died do due a stupid watercooler leak.
  8. AMD drivers are a disaster. Yes people made claims that it is more stable then nvidia driver. But that is not true in the real word. THere is always small problems with specific applications. This type of stuff never happend to me on any of my Nvidia GPU
  9. I have the same problem, and I too have the AMD RX 580 GPU. When I check ram usage I see that the game is also taking up 16gb of ram which is not normal. I thhink there is some bug in this game where the game is using the ram of your pc instead of the vram on the gpu and the game ends up crashing. You are not alone so dont worry!!!!
  10. Ever since disabled SVID and set a manual voltage of 1.3volts for my 8700k, something weird starts happening. My computer startup properly every time, but when I turn psu of and on, when pc boots up it shutdown for like 4 seconds, and then from there boots up properly until i turn psu off and on again and the same thing happens. This only happens after turning the SVID disabled. Does anybody have an explanation for this, does this have to do with motherboard bios. The kind of turning off and on again, is like when I update the bios or change the bios settings for motherboard for the first time?? And yes when I turn off the svid feature, then pc boots up properly even after turning psu off and on again? Could this be a cmos battery thing (Though I dont believe so because my computer boots up with the right bios settings) My bios is the asus z370e and bios version is latest 1002. If anybody has this bios please try to do this and see if turning svid support makes the same thing happen (I would really appreciate it)
  11. I figured out that this only happens, when I turn svid support in motherboard off, otherwise this does not happen Do you know why, should I make a new post about svid.
  12. And I am not cutting power while windows is running or pc running, I am doing it while pc is off??
  13. So the Pc rebooting once after cutting power is normal?? Also the pc will not allow me to flash a old bios is that normal??
  14. Pc boots up normally and has no problems. Though after I overclocked my cpu something weird started to happen. Pc is running stable after overclock through heavy aida64 and prime 95 hours no problems. Memt86 passed no problem. Only one problem. After overclock, whenever I turn off psu and turn it back on, the pc would reboot itself once initally when I would press the power button (Like fans off and back on), and this only happens once after I turn off psu, other then that pc boot up every time properly. This happens every time I turn off psu and back on. Running on latest bios This does not happen after turning on xmp but after overclocking cpu, very safe overclock 1.3v. I tried downgrading the bios, and the bios tellls me that the old bioses are not compatible (Dont know why) I hope that is normal or if you guys have a solution to downgrade bios (tried with usb) Is this normal should I be worried??? Motherbaord is z370-e gaiming i7 8700k
  15. I am planning on installing windows fresh with a flash drive. But I have one question. I know that installing the graphics card driver is necessary, but is installing the intel chipset driver and the intel Management engine from my motherboard's official website really necessary, isnt the one that comes with windows good enough.?? Another things that is weird that I noticed on my old install of windows that if I installed the Intel updater utility it says everything is up to date, right away from the fresh install. But if I download the one the motherboard's website it says that it is a new update??? I have an asus z370-e gaiming
