Unfortunately, with Ryzen, you won't get nearly as much as it cost. And like just mentioned previously, upgrade the storage. A 1tb SSD for $100 can probably add $200 in value (no I don't mean it's now worth $1200). You can even get the Crucial P1 1tb NVMe for $104 on sale which adds even more value because your can use the marketing term NVMe.

I listed my 2600x, Vega 64 liquid cooled, b die RAM, high end mobo, nvme, ssd, hdd.. The works.. Didn't get many bites..

Used same system and added a 9700k and Z390 Aorus Ultra in it and sold it for a little more than everything cost new, in about 2 weeks of being listed on letgo.. Maybe I just got lucky, though..

Marketing is a huge part, do some research, upgrade a few parts and you should be able to get between $900 and 1k. I would do a 1tb cheap nvne and 2tb hdd. Or 500gb nvne and 1tb ssd. See what's on sale, no need to spend a fortune..

Things is the 1070 is like 400ish now.  That is what drives the price soo high.  Like the gurus up top said, I was thinking 800 dollars myself.  1k is just too much unless you don't have a conscious and want to rip someone off.

I do have a 500GB SSD that I could throw in I guess that would be fair enough and increase interest in PC. The HDD is not horrible for gaming yea maybe not the best but better than some HDDs I have used in the past. Point taken and thank you.

I wouldn't buy it period. Your storage situation sucks for a PC that high-end. For something at the $900-1,000 mark, I'd be expecting at least a 240GB SSD and 2TB worth of hard drive space. A single 2.5" drive (5400RPM?) isn't anywhere near adequate for a system like yours. By comparison, my system has a 250GB M.2 NVME drive, two 1TB SSDs and a 4TB hard drive, and up until I added 16GB more RAM last week, my specs were not too far off of yours. A better processor, yes, but otherwise similar.

Drop the $30 to get a 240GB Inland SSD off of Amazon, then either add a 3.5" 7200RPM HDD that's no smaller than 1TB or replace the one you have with a 2TB or 4TB 3.5" drive. I'm not going to rag on you too much because otherwise you've got a damn solid machine there. Once the storage situation is fixed, I'd pay about $800 for it as an end user, $700 if you just wanted it gone and I intended to flip.

850$ -900$would be the best, you can put together a similar rig with a similar or better gpu(1660ti) for a similar price point.

    Interesting.
idk if I could get around to it any time soon, but I could put my 1070 in one of my PCs and see what GPU-z reports for power draw.
But ofc that's technical limit, so it may never reach that much for me.

NVIDIA specs list a max GPU power draw of 150W. That's the technical limit for a oc'ed 1070 unless you do a shunt mod.

    Edit: corrected an error.

Id think yes or roughly the same amount of power anyway only because Turning cards are more power efficient than the Pascal ones. My 1080 I have in my current rig pulls around 108W-110W at 100% Load

According to GPU-z, my 2080 only pulls max 80W.
so, uh, idk if a 1070 would actually pull that much power.

Little headroom? A 450W PSU would probably still be sufficient with a bit of headroom. A 2700(X) in torture mode will maybe breach the 140-150W barrier but definitely not in regular use cases even with OC. A 1070 stays safely below 200W afaik. Pump, fans and the mechanical drive won't draw much power either. I've paired an overclocked 2700 with 32GB of memory a 1080Ti, several fans, 2 SATA drives, an M.2 drive and a pump (and some USB stuff) off a SF600 and it never ran into any troubles, the PSU stays pretty quiet.

it'll be fine. I have a 750W on my system and its completely overkill (by like 200W, probably more since I haven't actually measured power draw and pcpartpicker says 384W for my PC).

Ready software like HWinfo, prime95 and AIDA64 first.

    doesn't help nor hurt anything

makes CPU run full speed regardless, plainly wasting power. Good for benchmarks, no good for daily use

Similar thing to Infinity fabric, but because Intel has better OC support you can manually adjust this, instead of tied to the memory frequency

Gaming temps are fine maybe 40C high end for the CPU Package. Coolant temp is around 30C-35C measured with laser thermometer. Yea always looking to improve next upgrade will be a bigger case and a larger rad or second rad

JPStone reacted to Blai5e in Question: D5 pump....PWM or Fixed speed?
Sorry, I think we're mixing temperature sources here... I'm referring to coolant temperatures and you seem to be talking CPU package/core temperatures. Best practice would have you running your radiator fan based off the coolant temperature and not the CPU (all fans in my case are based off my coolant temperature including the rear exhaust). CPU's these days have a habit of quickly ramping up and down causing the fans to follow suit. Also, AIDA64 is a bit of a heat virus and is not really representative of a real world workload. What are your temperatures when gaming would be more what I'd be looking at for reference. In addition, a second radiator wouldn't hurt either.

I never run my pumps at max. Unless it’s for benchmarking/overclock testing.

    Too loud for me.

One rig is set at 40% fixed. The other goes from 40-70% with the fans based on temps.

prefer fixed unless I have a restrictive loop, which I don’t anymore so I take the extra 3-5c hit.

Constant speed, flowrate doesn't really affect temperatures at all once you get past speed 2 (out of 5).

Nice posts my gurus.  You always wanna do PWM and slow down the fan or fans for quiet operation and effective.

D5 vario. 3 or 4. Depends on configuration of loop. 5 is noisy for me.

I personaly use a D5 vario. have it fixed at setting 5 (max). Not noisy.

Remember D5's were originaly designed for 'industrial' use. They are pritty durable and can be run at their max speed for their entire rated lifetime which is many thousands of hours so long as ur running a suitable coolant.

JPStone reacted to W-L in Question: Can I use Drive Bay Res not installed in drive bay???
As mentioned you can mount it anywhere you can find feasible and in this case not being in an expansion bay is actually a plus since most pump/bay res combo unit will actually transfer vibration to the case readily causing excessive vibration and noise.
