  1. You're welcome, for a quick fix there isn't loads that can be done without spending at least $80, but if you go right in with the custom rig idea, and start off with the Ryzen 3 setup, he can save up for a GTX 1060, and then it would be a really good mid-range rig that can easily get 60fps at 1080p max settings on all new games.
  2. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/c2pXsZ There's a parts list, but that's $200, but a 1050 ti and Core 2 Quad together already are at the same cost, if not are more expensive, and don't have a warranty.
  3. If you want to upgrade to a Xeon, delidded has a very useful guide: https://www.delidded.com/lga-771-to-775-adapter/2/ But if you were to get that, you would have to get a GPU like a 750 ti. A Xeon would cost $10-20, and a 750 ti $40-60. That's already $80, and you would almost definitely run into some RAM issues, so upgrade that by 4gb, and that's another $30. That's $110 in a dying platform, it would be much wiser to get 4gb of fast DDR4, a B350 (or in a month or two, B450) motherboard, and a Ryzen 3 2200G, and just slap those in the existing rig as those would allow it to be much more modern and powerful, for about $170.
  4. Ohhh ok, and the i3 8300 does seem like a product that shouldn't exist, as the price is too high, and there are better alternatives.
  5. For that price, go for the Ryzen 5 2400g or just go for the 2200g and spend the money saved on a SSD or GPU or whatever.
  6. Does it feel like 1fps or is that just what the fps counter says? Have you installed Nvidia drivers and are you running of your integrated graphics? What's the specs on your computer?
