  1. When I search for causes of Event 41 from Windows 10 Event Viewer error log the most top cause of many websites and forums is a bad or faulting PSU. Its only logical to assume its PSU based off that info. However there are other potential causes but its the top one if I was to take a average of the sites I looked at since this problem. But I am no expert and its what brought me here to this website. I did not really get an answer to the questions I posted but thats fine. I thought this was a good place to ask for help and advice but I can see I made a mistake.
  2. I found the same power supply on ebay for like much much cheaper then what dell wants. I just hope its new. I still did not get a answer if a 850w psu is enough for all my devices and peripherals. I am guessing so because my system worked fine for a long time with no problems. I think I am just going to buy a new psu and try that. I was just hoping to get a couple answers. I turned off the auto OC that alienware gives with there command center and unplugged a couple usb devices. I am getting a gpu card error when I run a test but both cards work fine on my games I think maybe it could be a gpu problem or maybe I should try to reseat them. Thanks anyways guys.
  3. Thank you so much for a reply, when I say cpu is over clocked I mean of course that I have the alienware command center software cpu overclock on from default to a setting of 2. Alienware Command Center has a stable over clock set by them where you can turn it on 1 or 2. I do think it could be manually set higher. Its sold as a stable over clocking tool or setting. If I cant replace to psu by buying my own brand then I guess I am forced to buy the dell 850w. Its about 250$ for 850w which I thought was high. But its Dell we are talking about. I know you say not to trust power calculators but they all say about 1250w and I have a 850w. You guys are saying I should be ok with a 850w? I just realized this psu has a self tester button on the back. I guess I will push that when systems off and or try to reseat some stuff. I just thought I could buy a name brand psu and potentially use it for a future build. If I buy another Dell then this PC is all its good for. I dont like Alienware no more.. Thanks again.
  4. I have alienware area 51 R2 and I have extra parts in it and upgraded gpu. Cooler master power calculator is telling me that I need a 1300w psu and I have 850w oem dell crap psu. The problem I have guys is I get Event ID 41 kernel power error like 2-3 times a month and is complete random and happens when idle even. Its never done this before until I got like new drivers and bios or windows big update I cant be certain its just what I notice. I have a massive pc with like a ton of usb ports in use all the time as I use Oculus VR and have added a pci M.2 storage and have 4 sata SSD and HDD and added 5 port usb card. So um yea I have a lot of usb in use like 15 or so total. I have UPS and my research says a 41 Kernel BSOD code is almost always a bad psu. My pc is like just over 1 year old and I just believe its a bad psu already but its a crappy dell weird modular thing. I want to buy a bigger psu but these cables in a Alienware will have to be changed which is no big deal but worries me if I can even do so as a Alien has weird cords they are not normal. They all hook into the psu with a 6 or 8 pin. Not a standard 24 pin for the mother board. Its just weird and I have never seen it before. The psu says like R1 R2 R3 etc.. not like sata or vga or MB like most psu have. I want to buy a EVGA or Corsair or something and put it in and I know it will fit just not sure which psu is best brand. Can anyone give me like the best psu brands and any info on event id 41 if they have experience. Dont ever buy Alienware guys.. Stupid proprietary tech.. I couldn't believe the power calculator says 1300w and I only have 850w. It ran fine for like 8 months with all the same stuff. Only thing different is like I said maybe couple more usb devices and or new monitors or drivers or windows update. To be honest I first notice after a big big windows 10 update but it said its never windows software for event 41. Help Please. Big time gamer and sucks with random event 41 but only 2-3 times per month.. Edit: does it seem weird that the power calculator says 1300w? I have a big system cpu over clocked. i7 6800k cpu overclocked max 32 ram 1080ti FE SLI not over clocked SSDx2 HDDx2 PCIe add in card with M.2 SSD 850w PSU Alienware Area 51 R2 Intek USB 5 port add in card optical DVD RW Burner/Reader Card reader Front 15 USB ports all but 4 are 3.0 and most in constant use. Systems on like 16 hours a day or more. Never off and usually Standby VR system and optical pc speakers. I have UPS system with watt load meter and when pc is idle and when my pc backup systems plugged into same UPS and Modem I only see 200w but maybe I should run a gpu test and see what it shows or turn on some usb devices. I notice my VR headset turns on and off cause I here the usb disconnect and reconnect at random but always has before so I dont know... I am sorry for long message guys just ignore this.. I just dont where else to go for help. No forums seem to help..
  5. DXMember I owe you a big thank you man.  I read a post where you listed out very nicely how to format a m.2 nvme.  I had a hard time and didn't realize I had to do this and for past few hours I was concerned that I couldn't use this and had to store it for my next build.  I am a novice and I am so glad I found your comment.  You sir are a god among men.  Thank you so much for your time..
