  1. @Twolf I am thinking about swapping the Galahad 240 fans for 2 ML's, do you think I will get the same, if not even better performance?
  2. I know this is a necro but I am wondering how you got on with others suggestions? I would also recommend potentially switching out your be quiet fans, they are silent yes, but in terms of cooling performance they are lacking. I have spent a lot on on silent wings, and found that 3 arctic 120 fans (2 intake, 1 exhaust) was better than 7 140 silent wings (3 intake, 4 exhaust). It really did help my cooling performance in a real way.
  3. Sounds like a corrupted bios. Have you tried overwriting it? Assuming you have a motherboard that supports bios flashback. though if this has happened before with the same hardware but a different motherboard, it sounds like your theory about it being related to another piece of hardware is plausible.
  4. At first I hated it, was far too hot and it was scary seeing the temperatures rise to 90c instantly during a cine bench run. But after bios update, a reseat and switching to the Dark Rock Pro 4, everything is running smoothly. At stock it hits 4.85, and I have it overclocked to 5.1, I have seen some users get as high as 5.2 and above. Overall, a fantastic CPU and I am happy to have switched this from a 3900x. All I do is play games, and a friend of mine who needed a CPU for work is benefiting much more from the extra cores of the 3900x.
  5. Try undervolting. Also, cap your FPS. Typically coil whine happens when your GPU is 'over achieving' so to speak. That's why in menus and haven benchmark where your GPU just rips to pieces, coil whines.
  6. If your temps drop by that much when you take your 'cover' off (I assume you mean the door), then you have bad air flow and need to rethink either your fans positioning or invest in more or better fans.
  7. Another topic on a topic that has been beaten to death everywhere? Okay. 3 years - You're fine 5 years - Lower settings 10 years - As if your keeping the card that long.
  8. I was going to suggest potentially a corrupted driver (because I am 99.9% certain that's the issue) Glad it's resolved.
  9. A great read and really good observations. I however don't think we will get a bios update to 'fix' this. 5800x is the odd man out because it has the same 105W TDP as 5950x and 5900x but only 1 physical core die, so it's always going to pump out a huge amount of heat. Even undervolted, the card still gets very toasty. It's just the thermal nature of the beast.
  10. Can't you just invest in some coin in the meantime whilst you wait for the gpus to come back in stock? Might even earn the cost of the cards by then.
  11. Yeah as others have said, Furmark isn't a stress test for memory. So don't get too excited unfortunately, it isn't an anomaly card. Load up a game and watch it crash instantly with +1500mhz.
  12. If I were you, I would just enable PBO and leave it alone.
