Fasauceome got a reaction from EzioWar in is there a way to turn off the rgb on my ram kits?
I've been using a program called OpenRGB recently
    https://openrgb.org/
But gigabyte has Aorus RGB software that you could use to control the lights as well. Both programs are free so it's your choice.

Some gigabyte boards have RGB control in the BIOS but I think it's AORUS motherboards only and the DS3H is one of the lower end gigabyte boards in terms of features.

Yeah I am thinking you might want to reach out to Corsair support and see about a replacement cable for this power supply. Their customer care is pretty good and they might replace your cables free of charge.

I'd try and get a used AM4 bundle like a 1600 AF, 2600, 3600 or better. Preferably a board with an M.2 slot so he could buy a cheap 500/1TB drive if he doesn't have a SSD already.

changing the CPU will require a motherboard change too, since you are still on socket FM2.

Are you considering the used market? There are some pretty cheap Ryzen options that would be a pretty massive improvement.

Fasauceome reacted to GuiltySpark_ in Can't plug in the +4 pin connector
8-pin EPS is capable of over 300W alone. Unless you're going to be cooling an i9 with something exotic, its completely unnecessary.

Fasauceome reacted to manikyath in Can't plug in the +4 pin connector
what motherboard, what cpu, and what +4?

    if you're running some i5 on a board with 8 + 4 cpu power connectors, that's fine.
if you're running some threadripper or epyc, you want all of it plugged in.

Looks good. You might consider a memory kit that includes EXPO profiles instead of just XMP ones. https://fi.pcpartpicker.com/product/Gk88TW/adata-xpg-lancer-blade-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-6000-cl30-memory-ax5u6000c3016g-dtlabbk

No. Modern hardware is designed to run at 80-90C at all times if not hotter, so being in the 60-70 range is more than safe for it.

I am guessing it won't reach because the SSD is too thick. Not to worry, put the heat sink away in your spares box and you only need to use the heat sink that's already on the Samsung SSD. If you later on decide to buy an SSD with no heat sink and want to put it there, you could put the heat sink on that SSD instead.

You want DDR5-6000 CL30 seeing how games benefit from low latency RAM and you want a ATX 3.0 psu for these RTX 40XX cards due to the PCIe 5.0 adapter.

    Scam? yes!
Used RTX 3070 is about 250€ here on aftermarket.
    I'd even say about 99% a scam.

Or it's a stolen PC, sold by a drug addict.

Fasauceome got a reaction from adudenamedalex in PC Build for non techy friend
AMD has been improving their encoders a lot over the last couple generations so their streaming capabilities are pretty good nowadays.

For a friend who is explicitly not techy, the simpler the better so a build that lacks a water cooler and loads of RGB is the way to go in my opinion.
A PCIe 5.0 SSD is something that will only really be relevant for industry professionals for years to come. But any additional slots would be helpful, since storage is one of the simplest upgrades a person can make
Not necessarily because  the graphics Card is also an easy drop in upgrade for someone who doesn't know much about tech

This would be a solid choice. My current setup is running with an IPS 1440p 144Hz display and the deep blacks actually made a pretty big difference in games generally. I play a lot of games with very cinematic elements, but even fast paced shooters look a bit prettier to my eye.

These are unbranded mass produced optics, probably not superb quality but if they don't work, you should be able to get a refund.

Only thing that stands out aside from lack of branding is that the pictures of fibers plugged in are all multi mode fibers even though these are single mode SFPs. But that contributes to the general cheapness of the listing.  Either way, you could buy these and they are (probably) not duds.

Christmas is a LONG ways away.. Come back when you are close to buying parts.
By the time Christmas comes we will have had many new parts release pushing prices of older components down even more.
Hardware prices change month by month, no point in looking at anything right now.

I would say that you should get a 5700X3D, a Thermalright peerless assassin cooler to keep noise levels down as this was a complaint.
Spend the rest on a new GPU.

Edit: Damn, Canadian Rubles aint a joke! a 5700X3D is 330 bucks.

Buy a new CPU cooler and a GPU 🙂 Thats it
