I mean to be fair they ripped the images directly from fs.com with the switch, which is a switch that doesn't even support 25g to begin with (it's a Cisco Nexus 9396PX that's shown). I don't expect much thought into quality was given 😛

These are unbranded mass produced optics, probably not superb quality but if they don't work, you should be able to get a refund.

Only thing that stands out aside from lack of branding is that the pictures of fibers plugged in are all multi mode fibers even though these are single mode SFPs. But that contributes to the general cheapness of the listing.  Either way, you could buy these and they are (probably) not duds.

So you didn't leave any budget for your processor? You're not doing "heavy gaming and content creation" on a decade-old i3 unless you're very, very patient.

That CPU doesn't even support DDR4, much less 128 GB of the stuf.

Be serious, what are you actually building?

just buy an old 7th/8th gen sff, chuck an ssd in if there isnt one already, and chuck some ram in if <8gb, and done

if you want an actually valid new build with an actual advantage over those used ssf that cost a fraction of the price then you can buy a deskmini x300 and add the cpu rams cooler and ssd for a smaller than mini itx desktop

but now that i think about it youd be better off with something like the beelink ser6 or whatever those tiny mini pcs with mobile ryzens that are even smaller and much more power efficient than building off a barebones x300 and will definitely blow those old sff out of the water in both performance and most importantly power efficiency + much smaller form factor

just dont waste your time even building a new office pc as they provide no avdantage whatsoever over old used sff prebuilts, better off with those aformentioned old sff prebuilts which will be more than enough for office work

and if you want new you might aswell get a mini pc based on a ryzen laptop cpu that will outperform those old sff whilst consuming less power and being significantly smaller in size

Fasauceome reacted to Hinjima in Ryzen 5800x RTX 3070 with 650w power supply?
Yeah, no problem 🙂  The 3070 draws 220w and the 5800x draws around 105-130w.  Plenty of power left for the rest of the system 🙂
  17. Agree
Fasauceome reacted to Hinjima in Need help with cpu
CPU's will throttle themselves to stop it from taking damage when overheating or even shut down completely.
The chances of your CPU being damaged from a day or two is very low.
If its working fine now with the cooler properly attached without the sticker, I wouldn't worry at all 🙂
Just continue to use the computer as normal.

Fasauceome got a reaction from PDifolco in Price to performance gpu
$750 can get you a lot, but if you don't already have a nice monitor you can spend closer to $500, and spend the rest on an upgrade elsewhere in the system. You could easily afford an RTX 4070 super near that price point
  19. Agree
Fasauceome reacted to PDifolco in Price to performance gpu
Then something between a 7800XT (cheapest) to 4070TISuper
Anything more will often bottleneck your CPU at 1080p
  20. Agree
Fasauceome got a reaction from RONOTHAN## in Price to performance gpu
The 5600X is pretty capable even in modern games, so in terms of price to performance you have a ton of options. In reality it would still be reasonable to get something like a 4080 super and still be seeing performance gains over lower cards, but more practical options are available.

What is your budget, and are you targeting something like 1440p 144fps?

The board is not just old but fairly cheap. Which means not so good trace thickness. Also the memory controller is not so great on the 6700K, keep in mind this was Intel's first generation with DDR4 compatibility so there were compromises. 4 dimms at 1600, despite not being a terribly fast speed, might be out of range for this particular system.

Fasauceome reacted to Agall in In need of a Windows Tablet
Some of your requirements simply aren't realistic. 1-2 days of battery life is difficult for any laptop. Windows tablets are very niche, so there's already a small selection, so even finding a dedicated ethernet port is a stretch unless you're looking at very expensive or old computers.

I think your best bet would be to find a 2-in-1 that meets your requirements rather than a tablet. That market basically consumed Windows tablets way back in 2015 or so, but that's not to say Windows tablets dont exist in 2024.

Probably the closest you'll get is something like the GPD Win Max or Mini or their other products. Those devices will even sometimes come with modular ports.

i'd be skeptical that whoever installed them wouldn't fade away into obscurity like every single other niche medical implanted tech company. But who knows maybe you'll beat the odds. It's not like a giant company can just go bankrupt suddenly leaving people with proprietary useless implants that don't conform to any common standards or anything.

Fasauceome reacted to will0hlep in What motherboard for Ryzen 9 5900x
A 5900X is only compatiable with DDR4 ram, so the DDR5 ram you've selected won't work. Look for a 2x8GB kit of 3200Mhz CL16 RAM.

As for the motherboard, you probably just want a B550 board. But it depends on your use case and on what features you need the board to have? (Typically spending more on motherboards only gets you more features, not more performance. If you don't need more features, don't pay more. Overclocking is the exception to this rule.)

Kingston NV2 should be avoided as the components of the drive are a lucky dip.
