  1. Sadly there is no such thing as a cheap GPU dock. A laptop that uses Thunderbolt, and can even take advantage of an external GPU in the first place, is fairly expensive already. Manufacturers assume that you are able to afford a beefy graphics card and more expensive enclosure.
  2. For 130 USD you can afford something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mkqrxr/gigabyte-b650m-d3hp-micro-atx-am5-motherboard-b650m-d3hp
  3. are you shopping in the united states? Do you have any size restrictions?
  4. It is the sheer chaos which allows such a thing to be possible
  5. Yep, if you enable XMP and then drop frequency to 3133 or 3000, that would run pretty alright
  6. As a citizen in the southern US, the widespread cell outages are super concerning.

As a telecom worker of a couple years, the widespread cell outages are super hilarious. It was probably my fault and you can definitely blame me, I probably cut something I shouldn't have.

I know this is sarcasm, but the naming is actually kinda funny.

My understanding is that generally, ham radios are safe for people who aren't vegan, vegetarian, or Jewish

Affected us here in the upper peninsula of Michigan as well. All att services were down up here. Came back up about an HR ago.

  7. any motherboard with 2 ram slots should support dual channel mode, and also any motherboard made in the last 15 years ought to have hybrid mode, so 8GB + 16GB will operate in dual channel mode if you are only using below 16GB of ram total (8+8) and once you get closer to 24 you will switch to single channel mode. Also not a big deal when talking about office work. Again, not really that demanding.
  8. if the PC is not playing really demanding games, the difference between CL18 and CL19 is not gonna make any real difference.
  9. It happens, reseller messes up inventory and you get sent the wrong item. If it quacks like a 1080 and walks like a 1080, its a 1080.
  10. The founders editions are set to hover around 83 Celsius under load. The FE 1080 and up has a nice vapor chamber in the cooler design, so they tend to be a bit quieter than other cheaper blower models
  11. That could be it. Do the headphones plug in via USB? Or otherwise, do they have a little button set on the cord that might make the PC stay awake? As for that legacy kernel caller, that could be related to windows update. You can check for updates, let them finish, and run the powercfg -requests command again to see if it changed anything. same thing with unplugging the headphones.
  12. I think that would be a better choice. HDMI in, HDMI out, and USB connection, that is the best setup for a console that you want to record to your computer.
  13. I looked up the Ugreen product on amazon https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-Recording-Streaming-Teaching-Conference/dp/B0BGMYPBF4 Looks like it only captures from USB output, so a phone, camera, or laptop.
  14. There are a few troubleshooting steps here. First, open CMD as an administrator Type "powercfg -requests" The stuff that is keeping the PC awake should be there, and you can share a screenshot of that. However, other things can keep the PC awake and not show up here. e.g. my partner's PC has a USB xbox controller and the bluetooth adapter that was inserted in the PC kept it awake for some reason.
  15. OP said the computer is an all in one, they can't unplug the monitor because it's built in
  16. what speed ram and what motherboard do you have
  17. new GPU is a good move. the RX 560 might be a good option to consider that is more budget-friendly.
  18. that's normal, and you would not have any sort of damage to the CPU at this temp Even with a low power budget, the small cooler would mean the CPU naturally runs hotter
  19. The cooler is probably an improvement due to the copper. but the 3000G does not have much to cool. What is your current airflow setup that causes "unstable" temps?
  20. The X3D CPUs benefit from a decent undervolt to lower power draw and thermals. If you tune the CPU a bit, you should not have any performance deficit. Not really, the main factor for improving VRM temps would be direct airflow in this case, i.e. a downdraft cooler right next to them. The stock AMD coolers, specifically the larger ones like the Wraith Prism, do a decent job of this.
  21. The tier list that you linked has the CX550 (assuming its not the 2021 revision) in the B tier while the toughpower GX2 is in C tier. I recommend not focusing on the gold rating cause there are plenty of shoddy gold rated units.
  22. That sound could be a trapped air bubble. You might try running your PC on its side and see if the sound clears up with the pump in a different orientation
