  1. are you looking for all copper in your loop or do you have nickel in the radiator?
  2. If you're getting a CPU on the used market, first Gen Ryzen is super appealing. It can be put in a decent B450 motherboard, which allows for a really good upgrade path in the future without need for a motherboard swap. A Ryzen 5 1600 would be preferable.
  3. The seller seems to have misidentified the power supply, PSU should say "Corsair" instead of "Cooler Master" The PC is pretty good overall, especially for 1440p
  4. Probably sarcasm Starting off strong. Per my original question, did you check the BIOS version? The Ryzen 5 4500 was released after the B450M-A 2, so the motherboard may need an update.
  5. Hope this helps. Short screws hold down the motherboard, standoffs hold it away from the case.
  6. Glad you caught this. I did not notice just how the motherboard was mounted, I can see now that the wrong screw was used in the top left corner for example. I see one pre-installed standoff in the bottom left, below the motherboard, so I am hoping this case came with enough pre-installed standoffs to not be an issue. @Whinnie give us a roundup of the screws you have left for this build as well
  7. Did you buy the motherboard new? Are you able to confirm what BIOS version it has by reading the box? If you need a BIOS update you are in luck, this motherboard can be updated without a compatible CPU.
  8. An 11th gen i3 would be no better than a 10th gen i3. The CPUs are decent value, if you are getting them used at a low price. I am still rocking my 8th gen i7, which does a good job in the games I choose to play, and the performance would not be so different I wouldn't recommend ditching your setup until you consider used stuff
  9. In a professional setting where you are the one establishing the rules and operational protocol, you absolutely do not take "no" for an answer in matters of cyber security. If violating the security of the business causes legal problems, and especially if it was done flippantly (which it sounds like it was in this case) I would definitely warn that legal action is a possible repercussion to this individual.
  10. I don't think that goes in the USB header. Can you take a picture of both ends of the cable? I'm suspecing that this is what you need https://a.co/d/fX7EGUU
  11. This more than anything. Privacy means literally next to nothing when using a highly mainstream OS
  12. 1.44 volts for the CPU at idle is not to be expected. It does look as though something is using your CPU. In task manager, disable every program that opens on startup.
  13. The used market is the best way to go for this budget. A used Ryzen 5 3600 (or if you get one on sale, a Ryzen 5 5500) in a cheap B450 motherboard will get you pretty far. 14. Before you put it in the case, did you test it? I recommend taking out the motherboard, and run the system with just one ram stick, the CPU, and the motherboard.
  15. Most likely, no. You would not expect temperature fluctuations with a bad CPU, but the motherboard might be to blame. In the BIOS, do you have your fan curve set to a specific setting? If it's default, perhaps consider changing the fan curve to "silent"
  16. If you don't find the reason it's not working, it's little more than a paperweight. You could scrap it to find some useful stuff like spare ram and hard drive, but the age might make the components not so useful
  17. Well, when it comes to the 1030 you are actually looking at no real difference when it's in the bottom slot. It's pretty annoying that the top slot isn't behaving nicely but I wouldn't mind recommend something like a BIOS upgrade if the system can actually function in a specific configuration
  18. Is it working in the other slot? Is it working in other PCs just fine?
  19. In theory, but in practice we have seen Nvidia cards available at significantly higher prices than MSRP. Really depends on if supply can keep up with demand.
  20. Currently, AMD has the better bang for buck when it comes to raw performance (and to be fair, that's been the case for years.) Considering the fact that the RTX 3060 isn't even quite as fast and is still more expensive, you likely would not find a better price to performance in that range. $250 for a 6650 XT is also a pretty darn good deal. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/z9H7YJ/powercolor-fighter-radeon-rx-6650-xt-8-gb-video-card-axrx-6650xt-8gbd6-3dh Nvidia bring back the $150 price bracket challenge: (impossible)
  21. You've got 10, at least 4 are probably spares
  22. Put a screwdriver or some other rigid object in the fans, to prevent them from spinning, an easy solution. Otherwise you have nothing to worry about. Happy spring cleaning!
  23. The specs seem solid, mostly fair for $900. Hesitant for prebuilts, but MSI power supplies are usually not garbage and they don't tend to have proprietary connectors in their ATX desktops. If you did buy this you probably would not be disappointed
  24. Either ram or motherboard would be the most likely culprit here.
