  1. I will assume you already did the lowest settings to see if that makes a difference When you updated the graphics drivers, what did you use? The easiest way is GeForce experience, but we might also want to start from scratch. https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/ Download this program, and run it to remove your nvidia drivers. Then you can download the latest drivers once again to see if that helps
  2. Elden ring would be an unplayable mess if the intel 630 was the rendering device. If you are actually getting decent performance, I'd more likely believe that the 0% reading was in error.
  3. These are both pretty good choices for your intended 1440p 144Hz performance target
  4. If the screw that is in there right now has the proper threading for that screw hole, looks like you are set up properly for this. Having a hard time finding an unboxing video that showcases the exact screws that come with this board, but I doubt they would have two different types of screws that fit in the same hole so I think you have the exact one you need.
  5. What specific motherboard did you get? All motherboards with an M.2 slot ought to include an M.2 screw
  6. if you're trying to install the samsung SSD without the heat sink that came with the motherboard, you will need a smaller screw They're quite small. you can probably find it in a small plastic bag that came with your motherboard.
  7. I am guessing it won't reach because the SSD is too thick. Not to worry, put the heat sink away in your spares box and you only need to use the heat sink that's already on the Samsung SSD. If you later on decide to buy an SSD with no heat sink and want to put it there, you could put the heat sink on that SSD instead.
  8. AMD has been improving their encoders a lot over the last couple generations so their streaming capabilities are pretty good nowadays. For a friend who is explicitly not techy, the simpler the better so a build that lacks a water cooler and loads of RGB is the way to go in my opinion. A PCIe 5.0 SSD is something that will only really be relevant for industry professionals for years to come. But any additional slots would be helpful, since storage is one of the simplest upgrades a person can make Not necessarily because the graphics Card is also an easy drop in upgrade for someone who doesn't know much about tech
  9. reach out to Asus to get warranty coverage. They will require the serial number, warranty should be good for at least a year They won't know unless you tell them ;>
  10. new B760 motherboard, I am sure this is still in warranty. Just don't tell them the damage was user-created. Explain that you are having problems booting into the OS reliably
  11. how recently did you make this mint install image? you might consider a fresh download and format
  12. if the laptop boots properly, go to the BIOS and move the hard drive all the way to the bottom of the boot priority
  13. you should have access to the startup menu, and you should try to boot in safe mode
  14. This would be a solid choice. My current setup is running with an IPS 1440p 144Hz display and the deep blacks actually made a pretty big difference in games generally. I play a lot of games with very cinematic elements, but even fast paced shooters look a bit prettier to my eye.
  15. What if you remove the fan blades, and the put some paint over the LEDs?
  16. Unfortunately OP can't get the better option here. For the 50 euro difference in a gaming-focused PC, I'd recommend the X3D
  17. Probably a faulty reading I see that the CPU seems to have peaked at 100 Celsius I am guessing you faced some serious thermal throttle
  18. Well with that in mind, you actually wouldn't need SLI at all. However to justify the price, you could take up a hobby that utilises multi-GPU rendering aside from gaming. Or you could do folding@home
  19. despite that, I would still recommend one 3080 TI or higher instead. a game that old is likely to see basically zero real performance gains from SLI instead of a more powerful card. maybe something like 400 FPS instead of 450? and if you're getting a huge performance gain from the GPU, the CPU will become pretty limiting.
  20. From what I remember, they changed over to SLI over nvlink for the 2000 cards, which is a lot more sophisticated (and therefore expensive) unlike previous generations
  21. yes on the AMD side of things this is a good option to consider
  22. This has been a big problem with windows for some time, the HDR implementation is terrible. Last time I ran into this issue, I changed drivers to fix it. Though, I have an nvidia graphics card
  23. Oh, I was still talking about Autodesk inventor. I didn't know that fusion was separate from that subscription package. I actually have very little experience with Fusion360 specifically, but I just had a quick look at the UI and it looks a lot like a simplified version of Inventor in a lot of ways. It would be a really good tool for geometric shapes and mechanical designs with a setup like that
