  1. Seems like it may have been an ssd problem.. Weird that it gave way after just 1year or use. Sent it in to distributor and was informed that it will take 4-6 weeks to replace.. Disappointed in ocz.
  2. Problem is that its my OS drive and i'm trying not to wipe/reinstall OS on another drive if i can salvage my situation. And furthermore, drive cant be detected in BIOS so can't really do a scan in OS.. Anyway really appreciate the help. Need all the help i can get (:
  3. Thanks for the quick reply! Is there any way to check this? I find it weird that it would suddenly fail when it has been working perfectly before.. And i have been rather conservative with my ssd use.
  4. Hi all, Firstly, some system specs: i7-2600k Asrock z68 extreme4 OCZ vector 256GB(OS + main programs) WD black 1TB(alternate) WD green 2TB(storage) Seasonic 860W gold PSU Sapphire 6850 x2 Define r4 etc.. Had system for about 2 years. Overclocked cpu to 4.5 on stock voltages. Added SSD and have been using it without problem for 1 year. Recently, being bored, i decided to try pushing the limits of my CPU. Got to 4.8ghz and started to increase voltage. all was well until i got a x124 bsod error. I read that increasing VTT would perhaps help keep overclock stable under load so i increased it by one notch(nothing out of the limits of the cpu i believe) this was when on reboot, my motherboard suddenly could not detect my ssd, not even in bios. other drives can all be detected. I have never encountered any problem like this before. Could it have been something to do with the overclock/vtt increase that ruined my ssd? I have tried changing sata cables, changing between achi/ide mode in bios and changing the sata port the ssd is attached to. I am now taken my system apart and just attaching ssd to motherboard tweaking bios settings. when i boot it up it goes straight into bios and ssd cannot be detected. Is the problem with my ssd or am i missing some setting in the bios. Any help would be greatly appreciated. i'm kinda desperate at the moment. EDIT: tl;dr: Year old ssd, suddenly undetectable after overclocking attempt
  5. I would think that if you currently have a 1155 mobo you may want to go into a sandy/ivy processor to save some cost. that way you can spend the extra cash you would have spent on a board on a better chip. a 2500k until today, despite being around 3 years old, would be able to handle any modern game you throw at it. and dont forget that amazing overclocking ability
  6. Considering the 6950 is unloackable to 6970, is this really true? also consider the overclocking aspect..
  7. both are real great cards. not sure how the 770 overclocks yet but i would think that nvidia would be working more on driver optimisations for it since it is a "new" series, whereas the 7970 is about a year old and is an outgoing card. also, in future, adding another 770 is apparently better with all the frame rating talk going around(i have no clue what is actually happening in this department) Can't go wrong with either (: ps. I am personally waiting for the 9000 series. I will be amazing considering how great the 7970 is already.
  8. Guys another question here... My current MOBO supports pcie2.0 but only at 8x when 2 cards are being used.. does this configuration bottleneck modern cards(am thinking of getting another 7970) I know that at 16x it only loses 1% if not nothing.
  9. dont really know much about xfiring with igpus but then seeing that the 6670/7750 are the best cards you are able to xfire, i would suggest buying a slightly better card and enjoying better performance overall. I dont think that xfire igpu and low end cards will beat a mid range card(i could be wrong) I think the 7850/7870 is a good starting point for GPUs
  10. what cpu are you using? thinking of making a budget build for my friend and he wants to max out dota 2 and have a constant 60 fps.. any suggestions?
  11. Just water for me. Also, i have a really huge bottle on my desk so that i dont need to get up often to refill. I am just that lazy>
  12. I think the "Best" is supposedly indigo xtreme right? I am not sure if it is counted as a thermal paste but it seems like it works the best in terms of heat dissipation.. Personally, i just use MX4 or AS5. Both are relatively inexpensive, easy to find and give great results!
