  1. I have pretty low CPU usage while rendering video in Blender. About 30% on all cores. How can I find out what might be bottlenecking my system? I'm guessing HDD or RAM but I don't know. CPU: i7-3770 PSU: EVGA 650 watt GPU: Gigabyte 5600 XT Motherboard: Dell, unknown RAM: 12GB ddr3 (2x4+2x2) Drive: Old 1TB Seagate HDD
  2. You mean motherboard power? Or are you talking about something else. Motherboard is just a 24 pin connector, everything looks replaceable. ATX PSU isn't attached to the case. It's an XPS 8500, although I think it's had a few replacement parts along the way.
  3. I managed to order a Gigabyte RX 5600 XT somehow, and assuming the order doesn't get cancelled (again), I need help figuring out a new PSU and Monitor. My current PSU only has a 6 pin PCIe power connector so I'm pretty sure I need a new one, plus I think my old one is a fire hazard. Note that my PC is capable of dealing with a 5600xt, but it's a Prebuilt so the PSU doesn't have any headroom. I'll also want a new monitor, because my VGA 1680x1050 60hz monitor won't make the GPU worth my money. I was hoping to get the AOC CQ27G1 or G2 (250 nits is plenty for me), but it's out of stock everywhere I can find it. I know 144hz 1440p with a 5600xt is a little optimistic but I don't play very resource intensive games. That monitor seemed perfect to me, I just can't buy it anywhere. Ideally I'd like to stay at around $250 USD for the monitor if possible, and for the PSU I don't see that being too expensive.
  4. .mov won't embed. The video isn't super useful, though. What's the problem here? Was it shipped to you like this, did you bend them yourself, etc.
  5. It's just a video of the socket from different angles.
  6. Thanks, I'll avoid that. I found the actual fan cable, it was tucked behind the PSU.
  7. Yeah it's pretty funny now that I actually look at the picture.
  8. Just so I don't look completely stupid, it's alot easier to see in the picture than the actual thing.
  9. I thought it looked like that, I'm not super experienced and the cables got me confused.
  10. That makes more sense. The cables are hard to follow, but that's definitely possible. Good news is I can probably replace the fan.
  11. I'm confused as to why you would buy your parts and then ask for feedback.
  12. About to clean a pretty old PC and I found this fan connector. I was planning on replacing the fan but I have no idea what this is. Any ideas?
  13. I don't know why you would suggest that someone switch platforms as an "Upgrade." That being said, I agree that the CPU is probably a weak point. The ram, while not especially fast, is probably solid for that system. Unfortunately for OP, A motherboard-cpu-ram replacement might be the best path to take even though it's pretty expensive.
