  1. Acronis is still a heap of shit.

Either you can't open the backup (not even mount (mounting is broken for years right now)) a backup file from a network resource. Alternatively to independent acronis installs produces broken backups.

  2. Little quote from the withdrawn angewandte Chemie comment:

It follows that, in a social equilibrium, preferential treatment of one group leads to disadvantages for another. New ideologies have appeared and influenced hiring practices, promotion, funding, and recognition of certain groups. Each candidate should have an equal opportunity to secure a position, regardless of personal identification/categorization.

    Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 10.1002/anie.202006717

These few pages are controversial and it should have been clear to everybody involved before it went live. So competently replacing it with multiple disclaimer (Willey and GDCH at least) is the worst solution. The better option would be placing the disclaimer on the web page and add a front page to the PDF with the disclaimer so everybody could just read it and doesn't not need third party reporting above it (or unofficial distribution channels (how ever you want to call the .tw)).

Just imagine fraudulent paper or historical literature like Mein Kampf (my struggle) wouldn't be archived and already archived data would be replaced with disclaimers.

    yesterday:  https://www.translatetheweb.com/?ref=TAns&from=&to=en&a=https%3A%2F%2Fmensenrechten.nl%2Fnl%2Fnieuws%2Fcollege-oordeelt-over-voorkeursbeleid-tu-eindhoven

However, the way in which eindhoven University of Technology (TU/E) has shaped its preferred policy goes too far and therefore violates the Dutch equal treatment legislation. That's how the College of Human Rights ruled.

Sidenote: the college of human rights is as far as I know state funded: https://www.translatetheweb.com/?ref=TAns&from=&to=en&a=https%3A%2F%2Fmensenrechten.nl%2Fnl%2Fnieuws%2Fcollege-oordeelt-over-voorkeursbeleid-tu-eindhoven

Student body is what percent female?  Stats only given for faculty.

@Bombastinator It is a general problem. Often the assumption is equality means 50:50. Reality is when the group is 30:70 then 50:50 is inequality.

Non the less discrimination as a solution to discrimination creates new inequality which is/should be less worse then the initial inequality.

I notice that’s not the question I asked

  3. Why are you tube notification email the best way to keep track?

No need to worry about click bait title. If the title is trash just press del and see the next item.

No channel name, no picture. Just the title matter (in the first place).

  4. Placing 2(3)/5 videos for a generic search term from LTT.

Not sure why the search result aren't identical when switching between incognito and standard chrome.

  5. bing:

This isn't me. This is what google thinks is a good desktop design. :/

    Oh and this awesome answer:

  6. 1. 50 is the worst number of all of them.

    2. Why did nature thought every trace should be a transmitter and receiver.

    3. bypass caps aren't a joke but fun.

1: every freaking measurement has 50 Hz.

2: beside 50 Hz suppression making sure digital signal aren't emitted during analogue measurements is a pain.

3: Isn't it fun to solder a cap directly across the pins since you forgot/underestimated a bypass?

little tip disconnect/switch off unused wires or they emit like crazy.

next tip: keep in mind that test equipment influences the DUT behaviour.

    What happened when, how, where?

Gave you parcel. You damaged parcel delivered.

Is this appropriate answer or do I need a crystal ball?

  8. The NAS HDD disaster created by WD itself goes into the next round: Amazon delivers SMR drives under the CMR partnumber.

Anyway only fools order HDD from Amazon as they apparently still don't know how to pack things. At least the my last order was shipped/left there warehouses within two days.

The bachelor thesis comprises at least 35 pages (without bibliography and appendix). This
corresponds to approx. 96000 characters (including spaces) with the following standard formatting: Font size
12pt; line spacing: 1.5 lines; side margins: 3cm (top, bottom, left and right).

Show me a bachelor thesis which is shorter then 35 pages. Seriously even a lab exercises is like 10-20 pages.

  10. I don't understand my buck converter. :(

It starts with 1.8V and jumps within 10 mV to over 5V. From there it isn't even close to linear.

Also what the hell is this? approx. -2.5 to 2.5V. There is no chance this is negative:

Also this system is slow as hell. This freaking fan (load) needs seconds to stabilise. More like 10-20 seconds causing slow measurements (at least RPM vs voltage is a perfect line). Probably also responsible for hysteresis aka. not waiting long enough.

  11. Thought I could just measure some fan curves.

tacho pull up is 12V :/

    Measuring without fan connected: 5V

    connects fan: 12V.

WTF. Why does my FAN has a  12v pull up build in? Neither Intel nor Noctua talks about this.

  12. Slowly I get the feeling that talking/communication with DPD is only possible in court.

Every single inquiry was either ignored or answered with a unrelated/outright wrong standard text module. To the point of them responding to the friendly notice that the initial answer was complete bs by sending the same one again.

This is by far the most ridicules business practice/decision I have seen (even worse than the game Telefonica played where I told them what data they had which is the opposite of what it should be).

Normally even with the most incompetent companies you can talk (although not very productive  but at least some form of communication is possible not none).

  14. Yeah. Missing through hole/bread bord frindly MOSFET problem solved.

This 40 mm fans need 12v to produce somewhat of a airflow meaning I need a step up converter which has a output enable pin ready for hijacking. :D

  15. Why?

    talking this:

    and output this after fillet:

Any Inventor user with a explanation? just again a limitation that fillets aren't compatible with faces next to a loft?

Apparently emboss is also broken in this file. :/

Might be again a case of exporting and using a different cad to finish it.

      Agisoft photoscan?

Yeah, it can go wrong sometimes, it really depends on the camera too, also the lens.

The other example of a larger object (1.7x3m or so) hanging in the air was better but with too little points picked for a useful result.

Definitely need to play more with this software and alternatives before telling if it is me, the software or a general problem with this technology.

    3. Origami Cactus

      Origami Cactus

The general problem with this technology is anything that reflects light/ is a mirror. So anything too reflective has to be taped over with matte tape, and then after the model has been completed, the material has to be changed in the program.

Also the higher the camera iso, the noisier the model will be.

  17. Google is now in the wired phase of testing there new design.

On the desktop I have the shitty new design (moved to bing as default there). On my notebook thankfully the good old old one: pages instead of scrolling AND url in the search results

youtube the same: there it jumps between the new and old. Right now it got back to 2018 but probably won't stay there. Not sure if the tampermonkey messed in a way I got the old back.

Chrome/Vivaldi: addons don't work on start up /needing a page refresh. On the positive side I got rid of the picture in picture button as this was just a extension which was hidden from the user.

Unless somebody tells me what was the last office version without this blue share button the answer is 26594.

Non the less office group polices are great: a setting to disable telemetry

This policy setting allows you to configure the level of client software diagnostic data that is collected and sent to Microsoft about the Office client software running on the user's device.

Client software diagnostic data is used to keep Office secure and up-to-date, detect, diagnose and remediate problems, and also make product improvements. This data does not include a user's name or email address, the content of the user's files, or information about apps unrelated to Office.

If you enable this policy setting, you must choose which level of diagnostic data is sent to Microsoft. Your choices are Required, Optional, or Neither.

If you choose Required, the minimum data needed to keep Office secure, up-to-date, and performing as expected on the device it's installed on is sent to Microsoft.

If you choose Optional, additional data that helps make product improvements and provides enhanced information to help detect, diagnose, and remediate issues is sent to Microsoft. If you choose to send optional diagnostic data, required diagnostic data is also included.

If you choose Neither, no diagnostic data about Office client software running on the user's device is sent to Microsoft. This option, however, significantly limits Microsoft's ability to detect, diagnose, and remediate problems that your users may encounter when using Office.

If you disable or don't configure this policy setting, optional diagnostic data is sent to Microsoft.

    For more information, see https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=2085687

So renaming required in not so required is a option. 😛

Next useful setting to get rid of the annoying yellow smile (if you have one):

This policy setting manages the Office Feedback Tool (a.k.a. Send a Smile). The Office Feedback Tool allows users to provide Microsoft feedback regarding their positive and negative experiences when using Office.

If you enable this policy setting, the Office Feedback Tool will be turned on in all Office applications in which the tool is available. They can access the tool through the Smile button located in the top right corner of the Office application.

If you disable this policy setting, the Office Feedback Tool will be turned off. Users will not see the Smile button in any of the Office applications in which the tool is available.

If you do not configure this policy setting, the behavior is the equivalent of setting the policy to "Enabled".

  19. Why are these information uploaded to Microsoft?

there isn't any benefit for them to see what my storage is and how full they are. I am actually surprised they didn't included network resources.

If you ever forget about your system config:

probably something to do with hardware integrity & or a ransomware precaution.

  20. Amazing what reviews can tell you or the lack of reviews: all cheap seller don't have  reviews and joined within the last few months :D

In this context: PID checker is a awesome tool.

That's because these sellers last about a day before they're banned from the platform for piracy, but they just come back under another name for another day.

Reddit has been my go to for Microsoft stuff if I'm just looking for something on a budget.

  21. Using a old office Pc as NAS was a awesome decision and just syncing with rsync into a German cloud. The speed of local network and access to the files on the go without opening up the home network.

Highest load I have seen was 40% from single user (before my network driver died moments later under the load ....) so enough horsepower todo background stuff if needed.

Oh and there are few things which gives you a adrenaline kick. One of them is if your search engine gives meaning full results for a cryptic combination of 2-3 letter acronyms  and seemingly random numbers.

Not only have they interesting math for price/L but also for delivery date ... 5-6 days a week ago equals beginning July.

Guess I have now a date for the 3d printer with most of the parts already there and cables ordered this morning.

  23. According to the official embarcadero help I run windows 8 and should update and or buy support.

Both is bs as this is the newest version on windows 10.

      @Bombastinator Why would you?

delivering a product where everything is broken from the GUI over code completion and debugger to the compiler/tool chain and then asking for money isn't a strong offer.

The longer I use this software the more feasible is the option to just port it to Lazarus. Free, open source and just works.

    3. Bombastinator

That works too.  I’m just saying for older hardware the win10 upgrade can occasionally be a horror.

    4. James Evens

      Not only for old hardware.

Windows is telling me it will soon upgrade to the next win10 version. :(

  24. Forgot that this program won't run on my notebook before hitting run.

Also not sure why it takes more then 35GB of RAM. In theory it should have been only 30 GB.
