  1. Hello guys so I am looking forward some tips and opinions. My GF wants to buy a gaming console for out living room (she isn't a big gamer though) and wants me to decide which one she will buy but to be honest I am pretty lost about which one would be best to get. It has been many years since I've had any console at all. I used to be big on playstation, loving a lot of the JRPG exclusives, but most of them are now on PC too so it's not that big of a deal. Last tv console I had was PS2 though and for handheld I had PS Vita few years ago. Since I am mostly playing on PC anyway I just want her to get the console which would be best to have fun for both of us as a couple but that's where it gets confusing for me. I've read a lot of articles on the web already but that only confused me more TBH. We both are not big on shooting/racing/brawler games so that's a lot of usually adviced games out for us. As far as I can tell from what I've already read it should be basically like this? PS5 - strongest console, lots of good exclusives, some story couple games, ps plus Xbox X - crossplatform saves with games on PC, mostly shooting/racing/brawler games though, gamepass Switch - weakest of them all, a lot of games for couples though, motion controllers, only 1080p output, no "free" games subscription, option to take it as handheld anywhere We have 65" 4k 60hz OLED LG TV and 4k blu player already (so the type of disc drive of the console is not really important). I was mostly thinking about telling her to just get us the Switch for the coupley games and so that she doesn't spend that much money but with it being old and weak console I am not sure if PS5 wouldn't be better in the end. Xbox seems like the worst option I guess? Then there is also the thing that I started to think about possibly buying PS VR2 if she bought the PS5, which might be lots of fun too especially for non gamers? Not to mention I'd love to be able to play Beat Saber at home and IIRC it is coming to the VR2 in the future. So there you have it, I cannot decide and would love some more tips and opinions. Thanks guys.
  2. Hello, I've been wondering if there is a wirelessly charged mechanical keyboard on the market? I know there is the logitech powerplay pad for mouse but as far as I've seen, there is not a keyboard like that? The only ones I've found were for couch gaming with those massive pads for both mouse, keyboard and hands, which isn't what I am looking for. I'd love something like the powerplay pad for keyboard so I can use it normally on my desk. Am I just that bad at googling or there actually isn't any keyboard+charging system like that?
  3. Hello, I am in middle of buying new furniture for my living room, but I have some specific requirements for the furniture and I have limited room to work with and I ended up with pretty much two choices. One choice suits my needs pretty much better than the other one which passes them just barely, however there is one thing that is concerning me. The better TV table would need to place the subwoofer on it, few centimeters next to the TV. I do have a kind of vibration absorption pad to put underneath it. However I still do not know if it is actually BAD for the TV or if it's just fine and I don't need to worry about it. I obviously know that placement of the subwoofer does affect the sound itself however that is not my concern, I am not really an audiophile and I did have the subwoofer on small table for it before and it sounded just fine. So really the only question is if I can put it on the same table without worrying or not. Unfortunately I have no way to test it and I need to order the table sooner rather than later. Thanks for input.
  4. Well perhaps I worded my first post wrongly, what I really meant is if I can absolutely turn off a HDD while still physically connected and connect it on demand as if it was in external HDD box with physical ON/OFF button. As far as I see, the advices above will just spin down the drive while not in active use but the drive will basically only be in stand-by mode waiting for any activity. Meaning it will be visible in windows all the time and also be prone to spin up when say windows does some check or antivirus runs etc.
  5. Hello, I'd like to ask if it is possible to have internally installed HDD to act same way external HDD in external HDD box does. As in it being off (not even spinning) until let's say activating some command and then by another command have it shut down. I've bought a new PC which does have one free slot for HDD and it would be nice to get rid of the external HDD box on my desk not to mention free up the USB port that connects it to the PC. However since all other storage in the PC is SSD and thus silent, I wouldn't want the drive to add unnecessary noise by spinning all the time when I use it very rarely. Thanks for any tips.
  6. Well the price is in the OP, the range there is because I've yet gotten it priced but it would be in that price range. The problem with building something myself is that just a 3060ti costs 500 euro by itself here and custom prebuilts from big local vendors are also way more expensive. Also if it is a single slot of 16gb RAM, I could get it upgraded at work to dual stick 32 gb for rather cheap. The only real reason why I am even thinking about upgrading is because I could get this particular prebuilt from my employer with huge discount while still having a year of warranty from HP itself.
  7. As far as I see, the page does show that this build is with 11400F rather clearly, only showing that the MB is compatible with more CPUs? Also there is a link there for the motherboard which they call Oasis.
  8. Budget (including currency): 660 to 825 eur Country: Czechia Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: mainly Diablo II resurrected, various Final Fantasy including newer ones like 12 and 13; persona titles; world of final fantasy Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): So I am considering a one time upgrade. I may be able to get a prebuild HP Omen 25L DT - should be basically this one - https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/omen-25l-desktop-pc-gt12-1000i/2100404876/document/ish_5811057-5811472-16 My current build has a very similar case and my components are i7-4770; 1060 6gb zotac; 16gb ddr3; 1 tb + 256 gb ssds. I would take the 1tb ssd to the Omen for 2 tb ssd storage. Obviously this would be a very big jump in performance and in case I could get my hands on the PC on the lower end of the range, it kind of seems like a no brainer. I liked building this PC and all, but all things considered, I do not have enough free time and money to spend on custom and upgrading over time and this seems like a very good price to performance. I'd only have one year warranty, but I could stress test the PC before buying for two or three days to see if there is anything concerning. Now is there anything very obvious I am missing if I go with Omen prebuilt DT other than possibly locking myself somewhat down the road with upgrades (possibly custom power supply or connectors or something?) Thanks for input! EDIT: Forgot to mention that I am using a 4k 60 hz main monitor right now and the old 1060 while still reliable, does have problems with higher details. I might be changing monitors in the future to 1440p 144hz, but it is not planned and would take a long time so 4k60hz it is atm.
  9. Hello, so I am at the end of my wits. My father-in-law's PC started to BSOD and freeze and with googling I found out that latest update automatic install was corrupted and followed the inbuilt windows "deupdate" option. However when the PC has restarted, instead of logging to the made user, it automatically logged as "user" account with absolutely nothing in it. Restarting did not help as it still logs as "user". The original user folder (with all data still accessible and working) somehow moved over to the second HDD, but there is no way to actually use that account and somehow I cannot even use the restoration tool because there are for some reason no earlier points to restore from before I did the "deupdate". I am absolutely out of my wits and even google-fu is not really helping me. Anyone ever heard of such obscure thing happening? Also all of this is local, no network accounts etc. Am I out of luck and can now only save the actual files by manually copying them to external HDD or is there any chance of amending this? Thanks for any tips.
  10. Perhap I worded it badly, I mentioned the burn in of OLED as it being a bit more "brittle" technology than standard LED, so I thought of having a source of extra heat only on small parts of the screen could possibly fasten the wear of pixels on the places where the strip would be attached to.
  11. Hello, I want to ask if there is any risk of putting LED rgb strips on the back of the TV with dual sided tape. I just moved and found out that I have an unused outlet powered led strip and I was thinking that it would be nice to have it as a back lighting on my OLED TV to have a subtle ambient light. However with oleds being so thin and also prone to burn in, I am kinda worried that even the low powered and thus low heat led strip could damage the TV. Is it actually dangerous or am I worrying over nothing? Thanks for answers.
  12. Okay well nevermind that question I guess... Anyway, I'd like to ask something else then... I kinda forgot about the fact, that my PC does not have a BT connectivity (I do have separate wifi card, forgot I cheaped out years ago and got wifi only, no bt one). If I am listening to Spotify quality music, does it matter if I buy cheap BT 4 dongle vs "expensive" bt 5 separate card for the audio quality or would the source only be chocked by listening to higher quality music? Thank you.
  13. Hello, so I unfortunatelly got it few conflicts with my neighbors about too loud music (in my opinion it is not, but I do not want to fight with others over in) so I am planning on buying a new headphones of some decent quality, that I can have on head or neck all day and walk around the house freely with it. So I am looking for overhead wireless headphones with nice sound (personally I do not care about ANC, but cant hurt either), closed backs and if possible, then have decent bass, because I love bass the most. Currently I am thinking about buying Sony WH-1000XM4, which I can get in my state for something like 285... mark it up to 300 max euro budget, more than that feels too expensive for me... But of course, you can try advicing something higher than that if you think the extra money is actually worth it (though I would have to save up from two, instead of one paycheck then.) Thank you for your time and advice.
  14. Aww that's a dissapointment. Obviously what you all say is truth, there is no actual rule to what would be excluded, but it is still dissapointing to think there is not anything to help. I mean titles like "you WOULD not believe THIS works" (just an example) would be obvious clickbait worthy titles (and sure, I get creators use them mostly because of the algorithms that propagate their vids, it is just that it is very annoying for me personally and I'd rather avoid even seeing them alltogether (not to mention them taking my screen space and mind space lol) It's just that I hoped there would be some kind of AI trained extension or something like that, that actually kind of helps But thank you for your time and answers anyway,
  15. Hello, is there some say chrome extension for clickbait removal for you favourite sites or at least youtube? I did see some on the store but IDK how effective they are or even if they are not potencially malicious. So does something like that, that's safe and at least decently functional exist?
  16. So I was not even thinking about getting a new piece but on my birthday 4 days ago I suddenly saw an AD for LEGO on FB and out of curiosity flipped through few images and then saw something I immediately knew I had to get and give myself a little birthday present. Behold! INFINITY GAUNTLET! It is really gorgeous, basically life-sized, the gold plating actually looks very good and it is very stable. All the fingers are movable so you can even set it to flip someone one off Also it was not even that expensive. As Marvel and Lego fan, I totally love this piece
  17. So I was just randomly thinking about how is the actual state of the OLED tech nowadays... Even midrange phones have OLED screens and usually a ton of mobile content is pretty static, but I have yet to find any burn in on my 3 yo Xiaomi 8 pro (though I broke it a bit and soon will have it changed anyways but I am curious about having basically a direct comparison of two different panels of the same type). Also I just went kinda nuts 2,5 years ago and decided to get and OLED 65" 2017 B model even though it was really expensive for me (like 2000 usd give or take I guess?), I always wanted to try having the best of the best once in my life and man, that thing still has me amazed everyday. While I am trying to not wear it down a lot, I do have it on for every night at lowest brightness on channels, that have static logo for easily 30 minutes straight (before ADs hit lol ), had a PC connected to it once for 2 weeks on max brightness (vacation lol) and used it basically as normal monitor. (though I díd keep turning it off every time I knew i would leave it static for more than like 10 minutes). To be honest, it still has me so impressed, that I just recently bought a 4k blu ray LG player and some blu rays and 4k blu rays and oh my god, the 4k HDR BDs are friggin insane. So, that's 4 years old piece of tech that keeps me amazed everyday, but I also had seen a few OLED screen equipped Gigabyte laptops in my work and while I was still incredibly impressed by the deep blacks and colors, I always though I'd be worried to actually have that as a laptop screen. Is the OLED tech so robust nowadays, that unless you actually go against all the "don't do's" or just straight abuse it, the burn-in is basically non-exist? Obviously the current future of all screens are the microLED panels, that will combine the best of all displays, but while awesome, will still stake few years before getting remotely accessible for normal people to buy (I actually think the history will kinda repeat here following OLED tech's, so about 10 years actually sounds plausible to me to see fully mature microLED, decently priced for normal customer). Though I do keep seeing people with OLED burn in a lot even nowadays... Is it just a panel lottery or just bad users?
  18. So while I was kinda closely watching the so far neverending shortages and outrageous scalped prices just keep going on and I just can't help to feel that I am still very happy with my current GPU (1060 6GB zotac dual fan) and keep praying that this bad boi does not die in the foreseeable future, I thought to myself, is it just me, or do others feel like that too? Like seriously, if my GPU just went poof on me RN, then either i'd have to live with 4770 i7 integrated GPU, or buy overpriced decent graphic like 3060 with my contacts for still a horribly high price... #MidRangeOldCardsMatter
  19. Unless you really innapropriately use the TV, you should not worry at all. I have had LG OLED65B7V for almost three years by now and I still have absolutely zero burn in even though I have it turned on for most of the night when I am sleeping watching channel with static logo (though the logo does go away in commercials and I also have it on lowest brightness for the night). The burn in is really overblown (though for such an expensive piece of tech, it is better for the issue to be overblown than to underestimate it obviously).
  20. Hi there, this is just me being curious, but do properly ventilated cases that differ in size also differ in pc temperatures? Just to make sure, I am asking more about the more "normal" sized PCs, not extremes like full tower with >9000 3k RPM fans or ultra SFF, where everything is within a half cm of each other. And also let me just repeat that I am being simply curious, I am not planning on buying a new case anytime soon (been using NZXT H710i for few years now and even though I know it is not exactly the most airflowy case out there, I like the design and my temperatures are just fine (35-40c CPU, 41c GPU (zero rpm mode) when browsing web and when gaming, never over 80c on either). It may seem like a totally stupid question, but to be honest when I think about it, I cannot really say myself. On one side I'd say that in bigger cases, the higher volume of air helps soaking more heat from components, not to mention the fact that it is possible to use bigger motherboards, thus the components are not so crammed together, so they do not give each other as much heat. On the other side I'd guess that in smaller cases it is easier for fans to move out the heated air more quickly out of the case and pushing fresh, colder air inside faster. Then again if the bigger cases have more fans or 140s instead of 120s, it probably evens out? Last three paragraphs are pretty much my own thoughts, so you can see why I cannot put my finger on the matter myself. Obviously, there will be the extremes, there is the fact that for any proper conclussion it will always depend on the exact case in mind and its fans setting etc. but is there a general rule that most of the time can be used? Thank you for your time and responses.
  21. You could probably call this a purchase It's on right shoulder, so in this photo it seems a bit distorted
  22. bought everything on the pic aside from the Kujira and Plantation today to kinda finish my booze bar for now. Of course other than the 2 japanese whiskys these are not THAT expensive bottles, but it's certainly nice to finally go for a dream of having better and interesting drinks for special occasions, instead of only buying the normal stuff when one wants to get drunk
  23. So today I got my new lego set - the LEGO Creator Expert 10281 Bonsai Tree: And I must say, that it is an absolute piece of art... It is incredibly beautiful, smartfully made too (very easy to change the green parts for the blossomed ones; the brown stand is not directly connected to the "vase" but the "vase" has a rubber bottoms, so it's actually hard to move even by hand, making it very safe). Not to mention that it is a cheap set (in my mind) at around 54 euros at nearly 900 pieces and the fact that my whole flat has japanese decorations, the room this one is at has other legos (the millenium falcon can be seen a bit at the left bottom side of the video), also as you can see, it perfectly fits the shelf and the fact, that I always kinda wanted a true bonsai, but never did because I am too lazy to learn how to properly treat one. Basically someone kinda custom made this set for me :x PS. the only thing that is 50/50 funny/random is that most of the pink blossoms are actually pink version of the lego frogs
