  1. Sorry to revive a dead thread, but I want to give one more update on the project, it will be short as there has been very little that has happened to get peoples money back that I know of. Indiegogo's customer service has been appealing and I would not wish the punishment of having to work with them on my worst enemies. I want to thank LTT for putting a disclaimer on their video discouraging viewers from contributing. I am out my $269 heard earned dollars and the scammer is most likely working something else up to capitalize on his $31,278 he swindled from backers. But if there is anything to learn from this it is that if you have a strange feeling about backing a project, that might be reason enough to stay away. Thank you again @LinusTech @GabenJr for helping as much as you can.
  2. Just wanted to update everyone, There has been no communication with the campaign owner and Indiegogo support has not done anything to stop new people from pledging for the campaign and wasting their money. LMG has done nothing, ( to my understanding ) to stop people from going to the crowdfunding page, as the link is still active in the video description.
  3. This is my post about How this is most likely a scam. So far there has been no action from Indiegogo, or LMG about how to help people protect themselves from shitty crowdfunding campaigns. Like this one Just today someone bought into the campaign that is a month late in delivering the product, and without an update for 3 months. PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE PEOPLE.
  4. What has LMG done at this time? Did I miss something?
  5. Wow, Perhaps the elusive Mr. wang will rise one day and deliver a product. I hate to say it, but the way things look now I think we all got played, and that sucks.
  6. I have a feeling that everything that he made is fake/temporary. I would like to think that we all come together and spam him into giving a full refund and we all walk away with our money and a smile with the sunset at our backs. I'm really past that though, my number 1 concern now is making sure that big content creators know that this kind of scam now exists. I want to make them aware and make sure that the people who are watching are not taken advantage of.
  7. I would feel a bit concerned but, 1. It is at best a really bad crowdfunding campaign, at worst a scam. 2. It is on his Indigogo page so already publicly available.
  8. Hello guys, Is the email l_enkidu_l@163.com ? That is the email that he has on his indiegogo page. They have been less than helpful in finding a resolution. (as in not helpful at all and taking no responsibility) I understand that crowdfunding is never a definite, however; if there have been 0 updates in two months, and the original due date is past four months, I feel like The crowdfunding site should disable new pledges, but that is just me and I don't work for a crowdfunding site. This guy has had 0 contact with the backers after your video went live. If he did have no intention of making the case and just taking peoples money, this is an impressive scam. I contacted the 8-bit guy he felt as though it was going to become a product as well due to the fact that he was sent a prototype. Sorry that you got wrapped up in this, just thought that you should know what is happening. I hope that this does not become something that is common. I tried my best to chronicle what happened in my original post. Thanks for getting back to me, I just want to make sure that more people do not lose their money this way.
  9. I reached out to The 8-bit guy, and he no longer has the contact information of the person who gave him the case for the review. Side note he also does not have the case anymore as he gave it to another youtuber. Still no contact form the campaigner or @LinusTech / anyone at LTT that could give me contact info.
  10. I have spent some time looking. As far as I can tell EVERYTHING is fake, or just has not been touched in 2 months.
  11. Linus promoted the product. I'm not insinuating that he is somehow responsible for paying everyone back if this is a scam, but people bought into the campaign after his video went up on youtube. From what I remember the donations went up another 6-8 thousand dollars after the video came out. Maybe Linus does have a way to contact the elusive Mr. Wang, if so, what is he saying? Did he underestimate production times? Was there more interest than he expected? Is there any case at all? IF THIS WAS A SCAM FROM THE BEGINNING Linus got played, just like the 8-Bit-Guy, just like everyone else. There might be a lesson to be learned here for everyone. If LMG has reached out to Mr. Wang and had no response, I feel like they should add an annotation to their video, or send out a tweet or something. Saying that they believe that this is be a scam, and those involved should take action to recoup their losses if possible. I know that Linus and LMG are not my personal financial safety net. I bought into this product with my money, and if I never get it back than that sucks hard, but that's what happens when you back stuff on the internet from a guy who is clearly from China, saying he is from San Francisco. I just feel like LMG may have played a part in this guys scam by promoting the product, and the fact that no one is getting back to me about this makes things more frustrating.
  12. I will admit that backing anything online is a gamble, but when I saw 2 legitimate creators making videos with the product, I felt safer. Especially when Linus is not afraid to call out bullshit products and terrible kickstarter campaigns. @CPotter @LinusTech
  13. If that is happening, then I feel like they would have released an update. They missed the original release date and updated the backers right away. They are a month off now and not a word. I hope that you are right, but I can't help but feel we were all taken. The backer, Linus and all the viewers.
  14. I would like to add that I have reached out to the @linustech twitter a few times now and gotten no response. I feel like I am in the twilight zone and everyone is ignoring the issue.
  15. Hello, I wanted to make this post to see if anyone has any information about the Apple II themed case from Indiegogo. I had purchased the case before Linus's video went live and was wondering if anyone had more information about the campaign creator. I had backed the project on January 11th and at that time the campaign was around 50% payed through. The day before the campaign was coming to an end I believe the completion was at 85%. The next day when I checked the campaign was a success and I began the waiting game. I originally saw the case on the 8-bit-guy channel on this video @ the 3:30 mark, Then there was communication from the owner on January 31, stating that the campaign was a success and that line space was being freed up for the case. Next he stated that he had to re create the mold for the case lid, because it would not support the claimed 15Kg and that this was the reason that he had missed the February ship date. Following that he released a statement saying " A new shipping date was confirmed on April 21 and that the linux video was about to go live". After this there was a notification about the Linus video and a link posted on the campaign site. THEN....... Nothing. No communication at all, Ghosted for a month. The general consensuses among the 101 backers is that this was a scam and nothing more. as far as I can tell there are only a few, maybe 3, 3-D printed cases that were sent out as demos and that is it. If there is any information about where the campaign owner is located or how people can get hold of him please let me know as I want to know if I should protest the charge with my bank or if a case will show up sometime in the future. In any case I hope that maybe you had fun reading about this saga and all of the information that is out there. Thanks for reading.
