Fine let's not call it a scaler then, but a Single-chip enhanced multi-function LCD monitor controller then. Happy?  Limited dynamic refresh rate? G-sync can only handle 30-144hz. Source: http://www.forbes.com/sites/jasonevangelho/2014/05/12/amds-project-freesync-gets-momentum-as-adaptive-sync-gets-added-to-displayport-spec/
No, calling it freesync is not enough for your misunderstood criticism. The free part is, and has always been, about 0 royalty license fees for manufacturers using Freesync/adaptive sync. It is also free for consumers to get cia driver updates. Obvously it requires hardware support. AMD has never claimed anything else, nor has any other hardware vendors/manufacturers. Who said a 80$ monitor will have Adaptive Sync? Of course an Adaptive Sync monitor will have a price premium, but AMD is not seing a single $ for it. So yeah Freesync IS offered for free by AMD. You are mixing manufacturers, standardizations, hardware and AMD together in one big bowl. You DO understand, that Adaptive Sync, was pitched by AMD to VESA group, that then accepted it, right? AS is NOT AMD exclusive, but a technical industry standard in Displayport 1.2a. Which means, that both Intel and Nvidia can support it too. Monitor manufacturers don't need AMD? (Same forbes link)

You do know that Adaptive Sync, was pitched to VESA by AMD, and is based on Free Sync right? Adaptive Sync is AMD's doing, but a hardware standard none the less.

The tech behind Adaptive Sync and G-sync is called Variable Vblank (meaning you will not see any difference in the 2), and already exists in portable devices. The lates AMD demo, showed a standard off the shelf monitor supporting Adaptive Sync from 40-60hz just by a simple scaler firmware upgrade. So Adaptive Sync does require a new scaler, but it should not be a huge issue for the scaler manufacturers to achieve that. Especially not since AMD is working with them to achieve it.

A complete solution, that forces to use a proprietary nvidia scaler, which means monopoly on the scaler market. Not good for us or the monitor manufacturers.G-sync uses a pointless 750MB frambuffer, as it buffers up to 3 frames, which results in added latency. Furthermore it uses an overly complex 2 way communication for each frame. It is much simpler, faster and easier to use adaptive sync, which has a more competitive hardware market, uses a standard, for more support, and delivers the same/better performance.

You know... A lot of disappointments could be prevented if people just listened to me.

It still seems like there is a lot of confusion regarding this though. Adaptive-Sync monitors will work with "Free-Sync". Adaptive-Sync is an open industry standard made by VESA. It's just that "Free-Sync" is what AMD calls it when you use an AMD graphics card and their proprietary drivers, and there might be some special "Free-Sync" monitor (which would only work with AMD cards and drivers).
You will still be able to get an Adaptive-Sync monitor that will work with any GPU and any driver that supports it.

    Edit:
This is how I interpreted all the info when it was first announced, and it still seems to be the case. We can't be sure I am correct until everything is released though.

When they said it was an open standard that anyone can use.  Now it is becoming an open standard that requires specific hardware as well as a new monitor.  It's not entirely AMD's fault, many AMD nuts glossed over the details in their rush to hang shit on nvidia which caused a fair bit of confusion and false beliefs.

FreeSync will not be free as in you will need to buy a new monitor with the new DP version. You didint expect this from the start?

You just keep adding more and more bullshit marketing material to your chart.

Well first of all, what exactly does "truly native iOS apps" mean? The "#Swift" leads me to believe that you think that something written in Swift means that it's "truly native iOS". Does that mean that an app written in Obj-C is not "truly native"? Why not?
Like I said in the other thread, Swift is crap:

No it doesn't. You don't even know what Unix is, do you?
First of all, OS X doesn't "use Unix as its kernel". OS X is Unix certified which means that it meets certain criteria set by the Open Group. The kernel OS X uses is called XNU (stands for "X is Not Unix") and is based on the Mach kernel (and parts from FreeBSD as well).
Secondly, "the terminal us Unix" is not true either. Unix is an operating system (a really old one at that) or a certificate. What you probably meant is that OS X uses bash. It's the same as most GNU/Linux distros uses by default as well, and you can get it on Windows if you want. It's nice if you like bash, and it comes with many useful things, but that's about it. I wouldn't really say it's awesome for "professional work and developers" though.

Oh good, because it's such a pain in the ass to install stuff. Glad I got this 2000 dollar laptop so that I don't have to spend 1 minute downloading and installing Ruby...

Well first of all, this is only relevant if you want to develop for iOS or OS X.
You could just run OS X in a virtual machine if that was the case. It is not as good as running OS X natively (which you could with a hackintosh) but again, that's only relevant if you want to develop for iOS or OS X. The same argument could be made for any platform.
It's best to have Windows Phone 8 if you want to develop for Windows Phone 8. It's best to run Windows if you want to develop for Windows. It's best to have an Android device if you want to develop for Android.
You can install OS X on a Windows machine, and you can install Windows on an OS X machine (and the same is true for GNU/Linux) so it's not really an argument.

Multiple desktops exists for Windows (third party) and GNU/Linux (standard in a lot of distros) as well. Also, I prefer multiple monitors over multiple desktops.
You are right with the trackpad though. That's bordering on baby duck syndrome though, since a lot of virtual desktop programs (such as Dexpot) lets you set hotkeys or hot corners or something to quickly change between the desktops. There is also VirtuaWin which is an open source desktop manager for Windows.

This is just flat out wrong. I have no idea where you got this bullshit from.
Windows does not try to keep as much memory free as possible. Ever heard of SuperFetch? It's not something they would have if they tried to keep RAM usage as low as possible. It also keeps a lot of stuff in RAM even after it is closed. You can try this with your browser. Restart your computer and then start your browser. It will probably take a while for it to open for the first time. Now close it and open it again. It will be much faster the second time since the files are kept in RAM even when the program is closed. Again, this is not something they would have implemented if they wanted to keep as much memory free as possible.
I would like a detailed explanation of how the paging done in OS X is superior to Windows as well.

The directory structure is personal preferences as well, not some objective proof to OS X being superior to Windows. I don't see how that makes it better for scripting either.

Yes, I meant it this way. I just wanted to point out that TDD by itself doesn't mean you will end up with good architecture. Anyway I agree with DHH http://david.heinemeierhansson.com/2014/tdd-is-dead-long-live-testing.html. TDD is great for certain things I use TDD for writing APIs and for things where something like your mentioned  given when then easily applies.

But isn't it so with any intel. It must be checked. Look at the Snowden - he doesn't leak anything directly but gives hints and it's enough to direct people which way to dig.

I think this is why something like NSA or any other organization like that gathers so much info. They search for triggers and then inspect closer. One hint might be enough to put peaces together.
