for 15 yrs or so  WD Advanced RMA where they send you a new hard drive first so you can back your data up and then send it back in same box.. has always been free.
and in march was still free when I RMA a warrantied drive..
 
now they charge your 25 USD dollars  I complained to WD  and they said that's there policy I told them that's a lie its never been a policy and asked for a specific date they changed there Free Service to a non refundable 25USD charge 
told them I will just goto  Seagate.. and I told them does the standard RMA also get charged..  I Feel WD is gouging customers during this pandemic now... as free service and an advanced  sending me a hard drive first  was the reason I stayed with WD  all these years since Maxtor..  but now I double thinking  maybe I go with another drive like Seagate    I pay high price drives like the 12TB Gold or 14TB Ultrastar… but to get charged 35 bucks Canadian for a 1TB SSD  for RMA is a little rich...  like I dunno if you guys found any new policy or if Linus did.. but I not impressed with WD   as they never sent out a Press Release stating Free RMA service is now 25 USD
 
do you guys know when this changed  I tried googling I couldn't find any info
