  1. HI, I have worked with high end Macs for a long time but have finally come to the end of my endurance with Apple. I work as a professional independent video editor (would have applied for job at LMG but I'm across the pond from you!!). As a final cut editor I have always used Apple computers for my work. Recently I have had several bad experiences with both Macs and the Apple support system. I imported an IMAC PRO from the Apple Europe website (better prices), with confidence after receiving conformation that it would work fine in the UK. It worked flawlessly for the first 2.5/3 months, however last week it shut down mid-render. I took it to my closest Apple shop and they said that I had voided the warranty by using a surge protector with my Mac. I don't understand how this could possibly void the warranty but anyway, they now refuse to do anything about it at all, not even LOOK at it!!! Sound familiar?? My proposal is this: I am completely done with Apple and this IMAC Pro. I've already talked to friends and I've been hooked up with a powerful windows based machine to continue my work on. So.... Do you want my IMAC? I'm really frustrated with apple and so understand your position, if you can give me a P.O box or postage address I will package it up and send it over. I understand it is almost certainly worth something to someone, but I've been a fan for a long time and I feel this is a good way for me to say thank-you for all the things you have done to help me in the past!! Yours sincerely, Arthur P.S. Can I get a keep on digging shirt (size medium) in return?? Thanks x
  2. This is going to sound crazy but... The M.2 interface is very liable to dust, if you have some canned air try cleaning the contacts of the M.2 on your motherboard. (If no canned air is available you could always try the old NES method!) Best of luck!
  3. Yeah, I agree that the off-site/online backup is the best way, however with a download of ~5Mbs and an upload that rarely exceeds 1Mbs it isn't feasible for me. Have decided to go with the external drive for now and will upgrade to a cloud based solution when/if internet speeds around here improve. Thanks for all responses!!
  4. HI, I am looking to create a backup solution for my pc, however I am slightly unsure and would like to know other people's opinions. I am aiming for 3TB+ with redundancy if possible, and of course at the lowest price possible! As far as I am concerned there are 3 options for backing up my system at home: 1. Use external USB HDDs for backups and use a specific program to keep an exact mirror of the drives/folders I specify. (~£80) https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-Expansion-Desktop-External-PlayStation/dp/B00UNA1ICQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1522501015&sr=8-2&keywords=external+hard+drive+usb+3 2. Use an internal HDD inside the pc I want to backup. (~£170) https://www.amazon.co.uk/WD-RED-NAS-Hard-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522507091&sr=8-1&keywords=wd+red+3tb 3. Use windows homegroup to transfer files to my second machine with 2 HDDs in mirror through raid. (~£170) https://www.amazon.co.uk/WD-RED-NAS-Hard-Drive/dp/B008JJLW4M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1522507091&sr=8-1&keywords=wd+red+3tb My understanding is that option 3 is superior, due to higher transfer, the possibility for redundancy and the fact that any pc in my network can access the files. However, the drives that I would need for my second pc are much more expensive. Just after other peoples opinions as to what I should do! Thanks P.S. Sorry for the links and prices to Amazon UK.
