  1. A dongle is unfortunately not an option in my case scenario and this laptop is in US$ if I'm not wrong
  2. Hello I'm a fellow Canadian citizen looking for a laptop with a buying potential of 1500$ Canadian dollars. - I need to be able to edit and render videos and to casually be able to play 60hz 1080p low-medium recent games. - The problem is I'm moving a lot in a day. I need to carry my computer often so id prefer a 15.6 po maximum size laptop. - Last one, I need to have a full SD card reader on it, it has become essential in my workflow speed and that might be the most important criteria of the bunch I have been looking for laptops online lately, but I was unable to find something that suits my needs properly because "Full SD card reader option" is not a filter on web sites like Newegg and Amazon and those slot peripherals are getting rarer. Any idea please, it could help a lot!
  3. Thank you man for your help, Unfortunately there was a time constraint and I had to choose fast, I took the Lenovo Legion Y740 because he has a higher power limit and it's a little bit better than the Y540. Plus Lenovo has a great reputation for reliability and easy repairable machine, add the fact that I will be able to apply kryonaut thermal paste easily instead of stock TIM and we have a winner.
  4. Thank you for the information, I will try to confirm it with multiple source, if it's the case, my issue is already solved
  5. And prove my wrong if it's the case, but the only thing that could affect the turbo boost is the thermal constraint or too low voltage to maintain it. If both of these are good enough, the CPU will keep boosting until it doesn't right ? (This laptop will not be on power saving mode)
  6. Mobile CPU come in a laptop, I have no choice but to deal with the whole package and not simply the CPU itself, look I'm not here to fan boy AMD, but as of right now I am not able to have 4xxx AMD product. Would you help me find a laptop for what I ask or not ?
  7. Interesting, any other one that come to your mind ? Or simply some that I should simply avoid for reliability reasons ? (thanks you for all the information)
  8. Because my suppliers don't have any AMD Ryzen 4xxx product yet, I even had a hard time finding it on newegg just for fun and he need it in 48H by now. One more thing that I consider is reliability, the benefit of taking I7-9750H, there is a lot on the market and it's been out for several months, which means we had time to spot the "bad" product models and the reliable one.
  9. Any product idea that is good enough for all this ?
  10. I know Ryzen are good and it's going to be a hell of a bad time for Intel pretty soon, but right now, only Intel can fill up my client demands regarding mobile CPU and he need it in less than a week. I recommended him to wait just a bit, but he can't.. Too bad I guess. About the size, I forgot to mention that he would prefer 15.6" dimension or less, but right now I just want to have an option soooooo.. Anything that is able to maintain his maximum turbo boost is good enough. Compare to the other criteria battery life seems to not be a problem for him For the budget he can max put 3000 CAN $ with taxes (location Canada)
  11. I know there is Intel 10th gen mobile CPU coming out soon, but I have a client that requires an intensive CPU load productivity laptop right now. I was looking up for something in his budget and from what I can see the I7-9750H and I7-9850H are perfectly suited for what he told me. Here's the problem, from what ive seen so far, each and every one of those laptop equipped with these CPU are thermal throttling. Since the I7-9750H is technically the best CPU for him I want to know which laptop is the coldest among the whole bunch ?? Minimum specs he requires his work and personal gaming habit. CPU: I already determined that one GPU: Mobile 1650 or faster RAM: 32Gb 2400Mhz or faster SCREEN: 1920x1080, 60Hz minimum requirement WEBCAM: Must have one, by preference a 720p or better KEYBOARD: Backlit is require I have no problem of disassembling a laptop for manual operation inside either, I have almost every high end thermal paste including LM too. I have to find a solution for him to keep his CPU temperature low enough that it will allow itself turbo boosting 24/7. The only thing that I am not allowed to do is to control voltage via a program in any OS, this criteria must be done in BIOS or I would have failed. To resume all that - Is there any laptop that is cold enough to allow turbo boost 24/7 for this CPU ? - If there is none, which laptop I could use as a template and modify it a bit to suit this purpose ?
  12. I want the Samsung CHG70 but I'm really concern about the VESA mount possibility, I must mount the monitor on the wall because otherwise it won't fit on my setup. Is there any size of VESA mount capability ?
  13. How interesting, you could use both 2.5 and 3.5 per unit bay ? or only one at once ?
  14. I hot swap a lot of 2.5 and 3.5 inch disk and I never use more than 2 hot swap disk at the time. I am looking foward to accelerate my hot swap process without connecting those disk manually with cables in my case. I have 2 free 5.25 inch bay available on my PC case. I was thinking of getting a 3.5 to 5.25 enclosure (2x) and a 2.5 to 3.5 enclosure (2x) that way I have the possibility of having a mix of 3.5 and 2.5 disk in the PC as hot swap devices. My question is the following: does StarTech 25SAT35HDD fit inside of StarTech HSB1SATSASBA ?? I am not exactly sure since the 2.5 to 3.5 enclosure is just a bit bigger than a normal 3.5 hdd. If it doesn't fit do you know which 2.5 to 3.5 enclosure would fit in the 3.5 to 5.25 enclosure ? (No screw, only clip, slide or whatever that require no tool at all)

  16. So it's partially marketing thought to help the sales, even if it's not technically wrong ?

  18. Hello ! I came across a specific details that bothers me and I wonder if you guys could answer my question (for the purpose of the topic, we will only talk about the SSD 860 series) Samsung on their web site (specs section) advertise their SSD's exactly like this : QVO 860 (1TB) : Samsung V-NAND 4bit MLC EVO 860 (1TB) : Samsung V-NAND 3bit MLC PRO 860 (1TB) : Samsung V-NAND 2bit MLC The problem is that fundamentally if a cell has 2bits it's a MLC, if it has 3bits it's a TLC and if it has 4bits it's a QLC. This is my question: Why does Samsung keep advertising their SSD's as MLC if they are not ?? Is it partially true at a certain extent (maybe if it's just 20, 40, 60, 80 or even 100% true) or it's just marketing bullshit for sales ?
  19. Have you ever encounter silicon lottery, not totally flatned IHS and maybe his case cooling ? All of these variable may affect his cooling capacity. The thing is, these are "well okay" and credible temps for a full load, and if speedstep is disabled, it would make sense he is in ~65c temps
  20. Read and analize before comment : IF it's running MAX, these temps would be normal
  21. I would be incline to agree with you, because if it's running max, these temps would be normal
  22. It's not about what you should buy or use, I just want to find the best (technically the one I precised) and by how many degree celsius different compare to other thermal interface.
  23. I have been doing some research on internet lately, to learn which thermal paste is the best of the best and found out that the thermal grizzly kryonaut (for none electrical conductive) and the conductonaut (liquid metal) are NO LONGER the best thermal interface https://tehnoblog.org/thermal-compounds-comparison-table-2019/ This is one source that show the W/mk and we clearly see that the Phobya NanoGrease Extreme is the new best none electrical conductive interface and the LT-100 Liquid Metal the new LM interface. The thing is, there is no graphic review of these paste and I really want to see actual number under a controlled environement. Do one of you guys have the difference in Celsius between these thermal paste and some old regular Arctic Silver 5 or even Kryonaut ? If not are you able to redirect me on a reliable source ? Even there, it would be nice to see Linus make a video about the "NEW BEST THERMAL INTERFACE ?!?" Lol
  24. Is the cooling plate of the RTX 2080 Gigabyte Windforce Xtreme is fully copper ? I mean I have some good reason to apply liquid metal on it. I just want to confirm with you guys if it's no problem for LM thx
