  1. well no id be marrying the cooler to the IHS until i decide to heat it up again and remove it
  2. so, this is just an idea and i probably will not be doing this but i am curious how well would it work if i were to solder my IHS to the coldplate of my cooler? just to replace thermal paste was my only idea, still using LM on the die but would i bust a heatpipe when i soldered it to the coldplate? would it even fit back in the socket? or would i just not be able to use the socket retention mechanism? https://buy.solder.com/3-Solder-Alloys-Ribbon-Kit/P1035_1014/ id use something like this if i were to do it but obviously not $400 worth
  3. replacing the thermal paste probably wont let you reduce the fan curves that much but it could help if its a really old application
  4. since youre using mx-4 heres a couple things about it one there is no curing time for mx-4 two everytime ive used mx-4 it occasionally looks like 2 slightly different colors, just mix it a little bit ontop of the cpu or dont bother as it doesnt affect performance three the paste lasts for like 8 years so dont worry about it going bad in the tube atleast not for a long long time especially if you keep the air out of it and seal it
  5. NO NO NO if it fits it might just blow the fuck up, unless you know exactly how both cable and plug are pinned and you KNOW for sure it is the same DO NOT CHANCE IT WITH MODULAR CABLES
  6. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES MIX MODULAR PSU CABLES IT CAN DO ANYTHING FROM SHORTING THE PSU TO DAMAGING YOUR HARDWARE IF YOU CANT USE THE ORIGINAL CABLES DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT USE RANDOM ONES YOU HAVE LAYING AROUND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS
  7. if you wanna see a picture of how i did my cable theres a picture on my profile
  8. well its probably better to just use a high end thermal paste unless youre delidding your laptop CPU, then in that case use liquid metal on the DIE and IHS and regualar thermal paste on the top of the IHS and under the cooler
  9. there are more than 2 screws i forgot where they all are but theres one in the middle of the back near all the cable routing trays i think, i own an h700 my self but i didnt have to move the cable bar at all i jsut routed the cables underneath it
  10. im also not aware of any tech services that will redo the thermal paste on your CPU with liquid metal?
  11. you shouldnt put LM between the cooelr and the IHS, while you can its much more likely that if you apply a little too much that it could run into your socket, best to keep it to the DIE an the IHS otherwise use regular high end thermal paste they all perform with in 2 degrees of each other at the highest end, if you want a good thermal paste thats cheap use MX-4 from arctic or if you want one of the best commercial pastes get thermal grizzly hydronaut or kryonaut, the conductonaut liquid metal is more suitable for delidding
  12. im confused he doesnt want a 1050-1060 but your best finds are all 1050tis?
  13. just yesterday i was cleaning and then redoing the cables on my build and i forgot to plug in the CPU 8 pin connector i just routed it right over the plug
  14. they both say pcie 3 4x on he actual m.2 socket so im pretty sure they are the same
  15. sorry this is a stupid question ive just never done this before... my motherboard has 2 m.s slots that are the exact same according to the MB manual, can i move my boot SSD to the other m.2 port with nothing going wrong? the reason i want to move it is because right now it sits right over my GPUs VRM and the heat radiates into my drive and keeps it at higher temps while not in use ( around 50-60c i know its not bad or dangerous but normally its idling around 40c or less and i just dont like it )
  16. that sounds fine, my delided 8600k running at 5ghz on 1.29volts is the same temps ( consistent 50 while gaming )

    MX150

if it didnt support it at launch theres VERY little chance it will support it later
  18. well sorry then all these great deals on better AMD cards are US prices like this 580 https://www.amazon.com/Sapphire-11265-05-20G-Backplate-Graphics-Graphic/dp/B06ZZ6FMF8/ref=pd_sbs_147_18?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B06ZZ6FMF8&pd_rd_r=4b263205-cb70-11e8-beb9-535416275831&pd_rd_w=xnt0i&pd_rd_wg=NQquE&pf_rd_i=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_p=7d5d9c3c-5e01-44ac-97fd-261afd40b865&pf_rd_r=68NJRF6YNVFKPHFKZH1V&pf_rd_s=desktop-dp-sims&pf_rd_t=40701&psc=1&refRID=68NJRF6YNVFKPHFKZH1V

  20. idk if its still going on but newegg had a deal for the RX 570 for 200 i think, it would kick the 1050tis ass and give the 1060 a good run for its money
  21. i used a 1050ti for a year and a half to play games like fortnite, doom, overwatch, destiny 2 and i was able to get atleast 144fps for my 144hz monitor with some mid high and off settings and a decent OC, if you can wait for the 1060 it would be a better choice how ever i would strongly reccommend something like an RX 570 8gb or 580 8gb as they are basically 1060 performance but much cheaper
  22. why do you want to upgrade in the first place what your biggest issue with your PC now do you not like the FPS? the settings? can you not render things fast enough? do you need 144HZ for competitive FPS? or for racing? or do you want just better resolution? what are you trying to do now that you cant with that PC?
