  1. well i had assumed you owned the aforementioned CPU ( not the one in the photo ) so i thought you could compare how large the IHS is and what the pinout on the bottom looked like to possibly determine if it were 2 DIEs or not but either way it doesn't matter, GL with the delid hope it goes well
  2. i mean the hardest part is clamping down the pcie bracket securely while youre cutting through the thickest part of it
  3. oh i didnt know you didnt own the CPU already you never mentioned that, maybe include that next time?
  4. the only single slot 10 series cards i know of is the katana series from galax and i think they only make a 1070 katana, otherwise you can remove the DVI port with some time and a soldering iron then just trim the bracket to one slot height and make sure your waterblocks clear
  5. if the IHS looks the same its probably the same underneath id give it a try anyways
  6. im annoyed today because i learned that BO4 uses 100% of my 8600k at 5.2 ghz
  7. literally every math test or chem test i ever had, had 2 answers just like that almost every question
  8. yes get the 1080ti but also upgrade the system as like the other comments said your first gen i7 will hold it back heavily
  9. if you want THE BEST ( aside from paying your first born and your balls ) then the 1080ti is it, i just got a 1080 and even this card is too much GPU for me techincally speaking as i dont even fully utilize it in most of my games, but thats usually because i want competitive settings anyways
  10. a used RX 570 or 560 would probably be better and about the same price theres an rx 580 4gb near me someones selling second hand for $125 usd but idk whats up with that price probably something
  11. if all youre doing is 4k then get the cheaper ryzen processor as they dont really differ in 4k because they all clock about the same and 4k isnt CPU or core heavy its basically all GPU unless youre doing games like BO4 in 4k because that game totally maxes out my 5.2 ghz 8600k 95+% all cores almost always 3 pegged at 100
  12. ive never heard of something like this but that doesnt mean it cant exist, still F for respects
  13. i have a 1080 armor OC and i replaced the cooler ( because its an armor card ) and the fanstop doesnt work with my new fans even though i adapted them to the mini GPU fan header anyone know why? or if i can fix it?
  14. i redid my 8600k after 8 months and i didnt even need to it was still liquidy just like the day i applied it, so i woulnt worry about it until you start seeing temp declines which could be years down the line and even then just add a little more or clean off and re apply
  15. just cap your FPS to 60 in fortnites settings or buy a 144hz monitor, i highly reccomend the latter as if you notice screen tearing youll probably love the smoothenss of 144hz and the basically lack of tear that goes with it because of how many frames it actually shows and for how short of a time they are shown
  16. not for $400+it doesnt when i can get a 6 core 12 thread that will out perform it for 350? no no it doesnt not at all
  17. no i dont see a single CPU there worth mentioning because of how old they are and how out classed they are by even an 8600k yes they are soldered wooohoooo but nobody is buying those CPUs today to build a new gaming PC its just not happening
  18. yeah it shows that in MSI afterburner, on the overlay, in overclocking benchmarks like firestrike or timespy it shows 2.100 unless i tell them i OCed it they wont know also its a return to amazon, they also dont care if the card is damaged or not, on the return page it asks what condition the card is in and then below it theres a little note that reads "this doesnt affect the outcome of your return/refund" so theoretically i could break fan blades and still return it
  19. Right but they are so old basically nobody playing modern games uses one and also it's so old like I said that it's almost not worth bringing up anymore except with the new upcoming 9th gen
  20. So I got a new 1080 recently and it has coil whine in some games Would you return it for a difrent card? It can overclock +900 memory for 5900mhz and +160 core so it's 2,100mhz, is it that exceptionally common? Or should I keep the card because it's actually decent for a 1080
  21. ... Wtf are you talking about? the cpu is delidded how would I kill anything with soldering? Also what are you talking about intel doesn’t solder their IHS till 9th gen and those aren’t out yet so you’re not talking about that... I’m just talking about taking a low temp solder and probably a heat gun to heat the IHS separately from the cold plate but still heat both then just apply the IHS to the cold plate where I have it marked so that I can resocket or resolder it
  22. Well if you wanted to buff that it would be even more reflective, that's just like 30 mins of circles with 7000 grit lightly wet sandpaper
  23. well I can show you I have one laying around right now I dont notice much difference, I just like the way it looks, and it makes thermal pads stick better
  24. I have some 7000 grit sandpaper that I use on heatsinks sometimes, it makes them mirrior Esq in 20 -30 mins
