As mentioned, the NH-D15 is hard to go wrong with. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Noctua-NH-D15-Premium-Cooler-Cooling/dp/B00L7UZMAK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1548966437&sr=8-1&keywords=nh-d15
If you want something a bit quieter, the DRP4 sacrifices a bit of performance for lower noise. https://www.amazon.co.uk/QUIET-Dark-Silent-Wings-Cooler/dp/B07BY6F8D9/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1548966437&sr=8-4&keywords=nh-d15
A 280mm or 360mm AIO would provide better performance but isn't as good of a value. If you're aiming to push for higher oc's, it may be worth considering.

    @Stormseeker9
If the OP wants to go with an AIO he/she really needs to get a 360 rad in order to get the performance of a 240 custom loop

With a 9900K, you should be okay with a 360mm rad.  2080Ti will be fine with that airflow as well.

Olli_ reacted to Dedayog in 360mm aio + 2080ti in define r6 ok?
More than enough room for that.  This is an R6 with a 1080Ti, rad is up top but you also see how much room there is to the right for a 360 rad too.

Ill be honest, I was pretty drunko when I replied to you before.
So I might of  not read the whole convo.

I do agree that in the case if 9900K, especially when OC'ing, can get very hot. Although I could see a 240mm rad be sufficient cooling. Do note, this is in my opinion, and some might think different about it. Now if OP would want a 360mm rad for his CPU, I would de-advise against the Meshify C, as although it has brilliant airflow, it would be a tight fit (if even possible, im not sure).

the heat issue with the 9900k is thermal limitations between the die and heat spreader, not so much which cooling solution you're using on top of the IHS. In my 9900k rig I have it and the Titan V in a loop together with 'only' a 420mm radiator in the top and the water temp stays pretty much 28-30c at all times, whether the 9900k spikes up into the 80's or not.

I've got der8auer's direct die frame and a Rockit Cool 9th gen delid kit ready to go, which by removing the IHS and solder should net 7-10c reduction in temps as well as hopefully better response for those heat spikes.

Ah, if you have old (but good) HDDs there's no reason to get new ones.

I run a Seasonic 750W Platinum, its pretty good (10yr warranty + free $25 Steam gift card). They also make some beefier PSUs as well. I'd also look at the PSU Tier list that's floating around on these forums: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/986897-psu-tier-list-30/?tab=comments#comment-11890955

Yes it has 315mm of clearance for GPU's, and that includes the front fan thats already there so you have enough room to put any 120mm or 140mm fans in the front. (There's one 120mm fan already included at the front and 1 in the rear)

Great thanks for the advice I think I will go air cooler. I’m guessing I have room to fit fans at the front? Just want to double check.

If you're more likely to get an air cooler, you should have no issue whatsoever since the Meshify (Sorry, Messiah) C has a CPU cooler height limitation of 172mm which is above any Air coolers I'm aware of (The NH-D15 is 165mm)

If you're thinking AIO, the FTW3 is 301mm long and the Gigabyte card is 287mm long, which means both are too long (just barely in the case of the gigabyte card) to use an AIO with in the Meshify C. So if you do decide on the AIO, it's best to go with the Enthoo Pro M TG.

Olli_ reacted to TVwazhere in Should I change my case?
What 2080ti are you getting, and what CPU cooler are you going to use with the 9900k?

The Messiah C, as Holy of a case it may be, cannot fit Long GPU's (over 285mm) and a front mounted AIO radiator for example. If you're going air cooler, you'll have no issues. Should you choose to use an AIO like a 280mm or 360mm for better thermals, I would recommend the Pope (I guess?) The Phanteks Enthoo Pro M TG which will support GPU's over 400mm long without any fans/rads, so with an AIO you have about 330mm of clearance for GPU's. Should be enough for even some of Zotac's ridiculously big cards.

Yeah I very much disagree with that video. Granted I have a 4k 144hz monitor so one of the biggest point made in the video doesn't really apply to me. Also 1440p isn't really a standard resolution other than in monitors so for content creation 4k is generally better.

I would recommend getting a WQHD (1440p) Monitor with 144Hz and maybe FreeSync. Linus did a video about this a short while ago:

anyway to answer your question i think a new case would be a good edition if you are upgrading anyway, the meshify C should bring down temps

I agree with what others are saying.
I've actually got a 9900k so can speak on it's heat.
Is it hot? Yes but not excessively so. For me it averages around 50c with a delta of about 10c under typical load.
When I push it easily gets to 95-100c across all cores.
Keep in mind it's summer here in Aus and ambient temps in my room are reaching 40c on occasion.
The performance hit from it throttling can be noticeable but it's not substantial.
So just make sure you've got a beefy cooler.

I’d get the 9900k for it’s hyperthreading. If you can wait like 6 months for Zen 2 it might be better, they showed off an 8 core 16 thread ryzen matching a 9900k at cinebench while drawing half the power. Lisa Su mentioned that 8 cores isn’t the max that mainstream ryzen would have so it’s likely that’s a ryzen 5 chip

Well. When do you need it and are both in budget without skimping on other stuff? If you need it now or within a month and you can afford the 9900k, sure, go ahead and get one. It's the best performing CPU out there. If you can wait ~5 months, wait for Ryzen 3 and see how it performs. If you need it now and the budget doesn't allow for a 9900k without shifting the budget away from other components (like GPU, memory, SSD) then consider Ryzen 7 2700(x) or the 9700k. The 9700k will be a bit better at gaming (though at 4k the CPU has marginal influence, this is GPU limited) but the 2700(x) will be better at doing other stuff (in parallel) thanks to being 8c/16t as opposed to 8c/8t for the 9700k (great move, Intel, great move to screw people over).

    Or maybe a 9900k build?

You have to add 400 £ for a 2080 ti if you want one. Would bring you to 2180 £
But I don't know if it would be worth the 33 % performance increase for + 65% in price.

I would say, save the 400 £ and add some 200 £ in 2 years and buy a new gen gpu from that money or even just save the 400 £ and sell the 2080 for the difference you need

We're using the Yamaha YAS-207 at our TV.
It sounds absolutely amazing for it's money, has surround (6 Speakers + wireless subwoofer), connects via HDMI ARC, has Bluetooth, can be configured using the app for iOS- and Android-Devices.

It costs 229 pounds at amazon.co.uk. Worth it's money!

Have a look at logitech z906. just dont use the speaker wire they come with - its not "shielded" and will create a fuzzy noise in the speakers. buy a 100ft amazon basics reel of the stuff. for the reel and z906 it would be about 220 pounds.
