  1. Like I said, the PC been together for over a year with no problem. It just randomly happenedl today. Would these things you listed such standoffs and connections be likely after all this time? I have not taken the board out yet, gonna do that tomorrow morning and check for damage more thoroughly.
  2. CPU: 9900K w/ Corsair H100i GPU: MSI 2080 TI Gaming Trio Mobo: Asus Hero XI PSU: RM 1000X RAM: 32GB Vengeance LPX 3200 2tb 860 evo PCs been together for a little over a year with no problems until today. I was playing a game and my computer suddenly shut off with no error code /screen. I tried to turn it back on but it wouldn't power back on. All the motherboard lights were still on like normal but the graphics card was not lit up. I took that out and tried to see if it would boot without the gpu. This did not work however this time after using the power button, after a second or so smoke came from near the cpu socket on the left side. I checked for damage on the cpu and socket and there doesn't seem to be any visible damage / bent pins. I'm not sure what could have caused this or what it could be? I'm assuming its a motherboard or psu problem but I'm not entirely sure. Anyone have any suggestions? If any more info is needed, let me know.
  3. CPU: 5820k @ 4.3ghz / H100i v2 cooler GPU: EVGA 980ti sc acx 2.0 Motherboard: Gigabyte x99 UD4 Ram: 24gb DDR4 @ 3000mhz PSU: EVGA Supernova 1050 gold+ SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 1TB Monitor: 2x 1080p 144hz This is currently what I am using and am unsure as to what would be the most beneficial upgrade, if any at all. My ideas are the following: New motherboard and cpu upgrade to a 9900k, upgrade to a 2080ti, or a 1440p 144hz monitor. I'm not sure which upgrades would be the best to do or if they will even have a significant impact. I don't know if either the cpu or gpu upgrade would be a bottleneck or if I would be able to make use of the new monitor with my current setup. I would like to know your opinions or any other suggestions about the topic. Thanks in advance!
  4. Alright, thank you for the information. One last question, however. How big of a performance difference would there be between the 1080 and 1080ti?
  5. Right now I have 2 1080p 144hz monitors. If all goes to plan, I'm thinking of upgrading monitors later down the road.
  6. Only for 4k, really? Not sure but only reason I was thinking of upgrading is because of preformance in games currently on 1080p.
  7. Would you say the 1080ti is a solid upgrade? Or would you recommend something else. Also, is there any cpu worth upgrading to or in this case would it be very minor with all upgrades.
  8. Sarcasm? I get that it is not 10+ years old but still... got it a few years ago and looking for an upgrade =)
  9. So I'm thinking of upgrading my PC as it is getting a bit on the older side. I want to either upgrade my GPU or to a new CPU and Mobo . The problem is that I don't know which one would be better for the price or if it is even worth upgrading in the first place. I would like to know what you guys think would be good to upgrade and what is not worth to upgrade.. Also if you have suggestions on a different part that could be an upgrade better than what I listed, it would be nice. Thanks!
