Then it's not going to be much of a noticeable difference, only around 20-30% faster, to really justify the price difference. I'd say to put your money more towards reliability (aka brands that tend to last longer, but as it's a lottery system with HDD, longer warranties) than speed.

If you're using it with system files, then I'd suggest the faster speeds, but if its just for storage or a nas, there's no point really unless they're the same price.

Me too, cause if it's sata II (3gb/s) then 280ish would make sense and no amount of rma will fix it

So is the issue that the laptop actually isn't charging or that the status stays at 95%? And it's not a soldered battery, there's a lot of YouTube tutorials out there for it to remove it.

Hi, I've recently acquired a Dell Precision 5720 All-in-One machine that's pretty capable, but the glaring issue with is that the screen is broken (was hit by something and now has a large crack that broke the panel as well). Contacting Dell Support, the screen itself would be around $1k, which to me isn't worth the price, the display out still works perfectly fine as well as the rest of the machine, so I could easily use it as a bulky desktop. My main question I'm asking is if it is possible to take a screen from another monitor of similar size and shape to replace the broken one in my AIO, and yes, I know it won't be plug and play but could I splice the connectors from broken panel onto a new one? This in particular is something out of my technical knowledge and want some advice or guidance on it. Thanks in advance of any opinions.

Yes it is 100% and actually commonly used by large data storage companies (who use tape drives, of course) since with tapes, there's a lot more than just read/write speed that plays into how fast you can get data on and off of tapes. I've worked at a e-waste recycling center fixing and repairing computers and it was very frowned upon anything leaving free (and they did not understand depreciation value, they still wanted $50 for a 60gb HDD..) so I'd say that if you're well known enough or you know a guy who knows a guy that it'd be hard to really get much for free. But it all depends on the owner, no harm in asking as long as you're not a dick about it (and remember, beggars cant be choosers)

At least the supervisors I was under wanted us to be +/-8 and we weren't supposed to have +/-10, and true I have seen worse as well, but if he's consistently getting bad signal that's causing him problems, that should be addressed as well. And that's more of what I was leaning towards as well, though knowing all the variables is always helpful, hence my kindof long checklist of things that'd I'd like to know.

(Coming from a former spectrum field tech) Defiantly your signal level is barely in spec when you seem to be having connection issues, which would make sense why you're loosing speed. How old is your coaxial wire, and do you know if it's rg6 or 69? Do you know if there is any splitters between your modem the ISP? (Including any outside wall box). Also following the line, is there any major kinks or sharp bends and is it held in by any staples across the wire that might be pinching it? And do any of the wires run along side electrical wire or come in near your junction box for your power? Do you also happen to have a powered amp before it leaves your house or right as it enters? Any of those could be causing some signal loss or ingress, but like @mtz_federico said, is there any specific time it happens or is it seemingly random? Edit: All of this stuff should be what other techs are looking for, but I've known my fair share of lazy or just plain stupid techs, especially if they're contractors and not even employees.

It wouldn't be a good idea to try to use your phone lines as ethernet. First most being you'd be limited to only 10mbps since typical phone cables use only 2 pair, not 4 pair like modern cat5 uses which allows for high bandwidth. Another issue would be that you would run into cross talk issues since phone lines aren't run as twisted pairs. You theoretically could do it, but I'd highly advise against it. I'd see how much it would take for a professional to either rerun cable for you, or find a spot to run it either through the floorboard in say a corner of the room or run it outside then back in upstairs with cat5.

Yes, I figured out what you meant by that after I posted my first comment. You wont be able to have the motherboard automatically monitor the temps and change it accordingly since since it's not a supported board, but you'll still be able to use their utility software to control the fan on the card

Forget what I said, I read that wrong. It's not on their supported list, so you might not be able to naively and from what I've read about it, you need the card support for it work via the motherboard

Well first off, it only has 2x m.2 slots on it, not 4, and second, they only have heat spreaders, not fans. So no, you wont be able to adjust your m.2 fan speed since there is not fan

Yeah, that's a very low end/old system that honestly wont fetch you too much cash now a-days, especially finding someone who'll buy it, especially with no license. I work for a company that bulk sells these for about $40ish a tower (given, thats bulk), but you wont really find people willing to pay too much more for a system like that.

So to be frank with you, this isn't the best idea. You're going to first off get heavily bottle necked by the mpcie slot you're using, and its very hit and miss with what card you can even use in the first place, some needing custom bios to even support the card. I wouldn't suggest going through with this solution and saving your money to put to a new system or laptop. That'll probably be your best guest then! You're able to do a decent amount with the scripting on it (don't worry, it's not as daunting as it seems) but that'd be my best advice for it! (Note: I misquoted the app, its called HIDmacros, NOT HIDkeys, my bad)

Depending on how many keys you need, a wireless numpad or even a small wireless keyboard if you need more keys would probably be your best option. Personally (I know some people will say its outdated and such), I use HIDkeys (HIDmacros, my bad) for my macro keyboard at work. The thing what I like about it is that it can tell the difference between as many keyboard you add to it and you're about to do a large amount of key combinations and macros with it, and since it was pretty popular, there's a lot of postings about how to do certain things with it.
