  1. Hello, there is no way to merge 2 different physical disks.
  2. Hello, you can try to download a disk test tool to make a health test on the drive. If possible, you can upload a screenshot to show the disk layout in Windows Disk Management.
  3. check the hidden files and protected operating system files too.
  4. You may need a third party tool. Based on my experience, the third party tools can do this work very well. Sound like your drive has physical issues, bad sector probably. So, it's better to make the backup as soon as possible. For the clone tool, you can try MiniTool partition wizard, easeus backup, minitool shadowmaker, aomei backup tool, Marcium reflect...Some can copy your drive directly to another one, some can help you back up the drive to a file.
  5. There may be some possible causes: The hardware is out of date, the hard drive lacks free space, the computer is running out of memory, or the drive has physical issues such as bad sectors.
  6. Hello, confirm you added System, Administrator and Authenticated Users the permissions. If this can't help you, you can try deleting it and make a new partition.
  7. I tried the same thing using MiniTool Partition wizard. Both Copy Disk and Migrate os function can copy OS.
  8. It seems the drive has heavy physical issues. Since your computers can't read it, you may need to send it to a data recovery office.
  9. First, download MiniTool Partition Wizard as SSD Sean said. Then, start the program, right click drive D, choose the Move/Resize function to change the location between this partition and the unallocated space. After that, the unallocated space should be after partition C, you can then reopen Windows Disk Management and directly take the unallocated space to extend partition C, this is the fastest method I know.
  10. Have you tried to update the drivers in Device Manager?
  11. It's safe to change the name for your drives.
  12. Minitool shadowmaker. this a new backup software, you can make use of the 30 days trial period.
  13. Sounds like a bad drive. Have you tried disk clean in Diskpart?
  14. The drive shows up as Unallocated means it lost all the partitions. If this is correct, just right click the Unallocated space and create the new volume to use it again. However, if you saved important data in the drive before this accident, you'd better recover data before making the new partition on it.
  15. You can try to clone the whole old drive to the new one, in most cases, this method works. Partition tool like minitool partition wizard or easeus partition master could help you, or you can also try a backup program such as Macrium. After transferring, you can use the old drive as a data drive. I personally suggest you download a disk test tool to check whether it has bad sectors. Regarding bad sectors, running Chkdsk /r in CMD could make some repairs.
  16. The first partition, marked as "system&active", is your system partition. The second, namely partition C, is your boot partition. Both system partition and boot partition are system required partitions. The third partition (recovery partition) is related to Windows recover. It's better to keep it as well.
  17. Can you please post a screenshot in Windows Disk Management? If you want to create a new partition on the drive and the current partition has free space, it's safe to shrink the current partition in Windows Disk Management. Then, you can create a new partition on the Unallocated space.
  18. Personally, it's difficult to merge the unallocated space using Windows Disk Management. But you can try a third party partition tool, such as minitool partition tool, easeus partition master, etc. Normally, the Free versions would fix your issue. For example, in MiniTool Partition tool, you can right click partition G, and the Move/Resize feature can help you change the location between this partition and the unallocated space.
  19. I suggest you don't merge partition F to partition C. The screenshot of Windows Disk Management shows partition F is your system partition. Please note: both system partition and boot partition are system required partitions. Merge these 2 partitions may make the system unbootable. My suggestion: shrink partition F to get an unallocated space, and then extend partition C using the unallocated space. It's better to make a backup in case of any accidents.
  20. If the drive C and the 2TB drive are on 2 different physical disks, you can't take free space on the 2TB drive to extend C:. This operation is not allowed. Here are 2 options, 1, transfer data out from partition C, you can uninstall the programs and then reinstall them to the 2tb drive. 2. migrate OS to a larger SSD. After migrating, use the cloned target drive as new system disk, and use the 60GB drive as a data drive.
  21. Yes, you may need to pay for a program to recover the lost partition along with the original folder structure. MiniTool partition tool, easeus partition master, or aomei partition tool have a not bad reputation on recovering lost partitions. If you don't want to pay for the partition recovery software, Testdisk is a choice, it can recover your data for free.
  22. A drive shows up a wrong capacity, this is not a good sign. Check whether it is detected correctly in Windows Disk Management or Diskpart. If yes, you can try cleaning in Diskpart. If not, it is probably dying.
  23. Many freeware has the ability to clone the drive, such as minittool partition wizard, easeus partition tool, etc.
  24. Have you tried the diagnostic tool from the manufacturer? Other tools, you can try CrystalDiskInfo or HD Tune.
  25. Hi, it's better to make a fresh install. Many free programs have the ability to clone OS only. But they will clone all of your system required partitions (system partition and OS partition), of course, all data in these partitions will be cloned. So, it's better to do a fresh install. However, if you still want to complete this task with a program, i suggest partition wizard from minitool, aomei, or easeus.
