ZXR reacted to Spotty in Why Linus nearly ever uses NVIDIA GPUs
GTX 1080 release date: May 2016
RX 5700 release date: July 2019
GTX 1080Ti release date: March 2017
Radeon VII release date: February 2019
You're wondering why LTT used the GTX 1080Ti or GTX 1080 in videos instead of the RX 5700 or Radeon VII? It should be pretty obvious. The AMD cards didn't exist when they were making those videos that featured the GTX 1080 or GTX1080 Ti. The AMD cards were released years later.
Edit: Also, where did you get the prices for the Nvidia cards from? The 1080Ti had a MSRP starting at $699 USD. Not $949.
Regardless it's kind of a moot point trying to compare prices of cards that are no longer being sold. You can pick up a 1080Ti 2nd hand for around $350. Maybe cheaper if you find a good deal. GTX 1080 or GTX 1070 Ti (practically same performance) can be had for around $250ish 2nd hand. Cheaper than a new RX 5700.

No way this will be shipped at $349. Material and production costs are simply too high for folding phones with these specs right now.

Illegal in the EU (so not applicable there at least)

Finally upgraded my monitor, coming from a 1080p 21inch 60hz LG monitor from 2009, its definitely a massive upgrade. I picked the Omen X 35 because I really liked the design and the panel seemed good enough. Also the price I paid for it sealed the deal, £291 with free shipping on amazon. The monitor is basically brand new, it still had all the stickers and accesories, no cosmetic damage aside from the box.
Inside the box
Monitor was really well packed with foam, which was nice.
Before purchasing I knew that the omen x 35 had some faults when it was first manufactured, so i was a bit concerned. Luckily I got the 2018 model with the updated firmware ax161 which fixed the ghosting, overshoot and gsync issue. My panel was really good, no dead pixels and the backlight bleed is very minimal, hardly visible. I downloaded an icc profile from a reviewer which improved the greys, but a friend is lending me his spyder 5 pro to properly calibrate soon. Anyways, i'm super happy with it, it is absolutely stunning and immersive as expected. For £291 I cannot fault it at all.

I kicked off Black Friday with 3 Kilograms of Lindt Chocolate. While you can get this stuff throughout the entire year, the first one still marks the beginning of Christmas time for me. It's the first time I'm buying that many though.
If you never had one of these just imagine the best piece of chocolate you ever had and multiply by 1000x.
(best ones are the red though)

How exactly did he ruin the PC?

You could conceivably save up for a new system on your own before the next one takes place, if it does at all, they're not a given.

Look at the date
Take away about 2 months
Estimate about 365 days from then
In all reality, no one knows. This year's literally just happened

ZXR reacted to minibois in Linus please do more in Europe
More often than you think.
"This case is about 5" wide"
"We're just running this 50 feet ethernet cable"
"Buy this 20 fl.oz bottle at LTTStore.com"/"Madrinas coffee 15 fl.oz Grab and Go cans"
"This laptop weighs about 4 pounds"
"We are using this satellite to send the internet signal 5 miles away"
"This case has a volume of 5 cubic feet" (although liters is more common here)
etc. (of course the other way round too - which is why I would plead for this unit conversion thing to go both ways. Imperial to Metric and also Metric to Imperial)
Other than straight up construction videos (which LTT sometimes does too), there are other situations where a unit conversion is at the least bit convenient. Of course I know the rough conversions for most of these, but especially when they are comparing minute details (e.g. phone A is 0.50 pounds, the other is 0.57 pounds) it would be nice to get my preferred unit of measurement..
Some things like screen sizes for example would not need to be converted, since that is basically the default measurement everywhere.
