  1. Would the product you linked really be better than this Wifi extender? 41k ratings nearly 4 and a half stars vs 4/5 stars 802 ratings. Though, maybe Amazon ratings mean nothing. https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-AC1900-Range-Extender-RE550/dp/B08TLT65WM/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1E5QHA6SZR8ED&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.FmYnZZENPNoiAsi6FUVWVqIDVhiUR_RDYJocwAfxPCk_D89JrJsGFvAIw7OzLAncnmp7vGhs8vul5OgEvX6rH7saFUxM0O7h9B_FPkxpGUaoxHC4bcWhCCJQMLMeF5weFj7BhcXahWH8Q05IahXzF4UGt1k0xVckrRAD5WnPjx7lODM9Zc6b7Ezwm8gKkRLZNpwebkuMWRaX3cgYD2r5yqx8_rM9nWgr8uuDgbCanK1T6RRx_qM400SDRFFWWt7y26a_7HRrXcGb1J3e8ASbPA73eRZ_GAahk7nb7Fs_fp4.y4c1-BkZR8VKlomPxYnfEKaXnVYyvFXsr1teiQBIuOw&dib_tag=se&keywords=wifi%2Bextender&qid=1711687798&sprefix=wifi%2Bextender%2Caps%2C137&sr=8-5&th=1
  2. Is a Wifi extender maybe a better idea?
  3. I prefer not to mess around with networking stuff very often because I find it to be a very frustrating experience almost every time. The router is a Telus - T3200M. I don't know what you mean by "separating them" How do I know if It's 2.4/5 or WiFi 6? Even if it were possible for me to connect to it, I doubt it would be a reliable connection since my laptop sometimes struggles to stay connected from that far away and Epson even said the printer is too far away from the router. This kind of powerline ethernet adapter or do you have something else in mind? Edit: With the powerline solution it says to connect an ethernet cable from the powerline adapter into the router. If I have a switch, can I plug it into the switch instead? And I guess I need to directly wire the printer into the second powerline adapter? Problem is, I don't see an ethernet adapter on my printer.
  4. I have an EPSON ET-2850 WiFi Printer which is located across the other side of my house from the router. From what Epson tells me, the printer should ideally be no more than 15 feet from the router and definitely under 20. This strikes me as a bit odd because my laptop can connect to my router from the same distance (although, It's not an exceptionally strong connection, it can still connect). I certainly don't see my router via the printers networking configuration settings so obviously the printer and router are too far apart. Is there a solution to this aside from moving the printer into my bedroom where the router is located? I don't want people having to enter my room just to print stuff off.
  5. If I do it right the first time haha. I'm just being thorough because I don't have the cash to replace this device if something goes wrong; I'd have to wait a bit. But It's been in use for 5 or so years and eventually dust is gonna get caked so I'll have to do this eventually.... It probably already is. I need to blow out my PC every 3-4 months so I can only imagine what the inside of this Shield looks like by now. But I find depending on what guide you read, who you ask or what video you watch, different people have different ways of doing things. Like you'll get some people who will say "hold the PC fans down when you air blow" other people will say "don't do that, it's bad for the fans" etc. You'd think there would be a very specific way of cleaning different components that's universally agreed upon. I suppose there's a baseline level of agreement, but not fully. Is there a way to know for sure if this microfiber cloth is even anti static and not the same as any other microfiber cloth? I find Amazon sellers to be a little deceptive at times.
  6. Hmm, from what you've written, it sounds like dipping microfiber cleaning cloths like these ones in the image I've linked into ISO then wiping down the board and any other circuitry is a better idea than using Kim Wipes/Shop Towels, no? Because the microfiber won't leave any tissue bits behind. Is there a problem with using these microfiber cloths to wipe down everything? One that's wet with ISO and one that's dry to dry things out. Though. 99% alcohol dries up quickly on its own. Once you've wiped down components/board with the ISO, do you leave it to dry on its own for a few hours just to make sure everything has been soaked up/evaporated?
  7. Would you rather use these or dip microfiber cloths in ISO, or it doesn't matter? Do you use ISO with the Kim wipes? How about Shop Towels?
  8. Can the tips of a brush be too harsh/coarse for motherboard/circuit board/graphics card? Do you generally want softer bristles or it really doesn't matter? Though, it seems acid brushes use horsehair bristles. Just wouldn't wanna wear down/damage any of the components I'm dusting.
  9. I'm familiar with isopropyl (99%) being used to remove thermal paste with cotton swabs. But if you were going to use isopropyl to clean a board/graphics card etc., do you just dip a microfiber towel into the isopropyl and use it to wipe those components? What is the purpose of using an acid brush afterward? Can a makeup brush or small paint brush be used instead? I have an attachment on my blower than has bristles on it (included photo). I think I'd be able to use these bristles on the board, but I wonder if the air pressure is too strong when up close to a board. I guess a new toothbrush could be used on a fan to break up the dust. But yah, I'm mostly wanting to clean the caked on dust off really well without damaging any of the circuitry. I came across this video just now (timestamped) and this guy uses a blower with bristles on it and he also uses A LOT of cotton swaps dipped in isopropyl to clean this graphics card, which I'd think is something I could do as well with the Shield board and anything else inside of it.
  10. I'm not very experienced with cleaning electronics, I just use an air blower on my PC, but I notice this never gets rid of all the dust. (I'll often find a very thin layer of dust on top of my graphics card etc). Here is a screen capture from the inside of a very dusty 2017 Shield. (Not mine). I'd like to know what kind of product(s) I should use to clean the board, fan and inside of the Shield case. A blower would not be sufficient enough to remove all the caked on dust. So what should I use?
  11. Oh, those are just twist ties the guy used. I never noticed until I took a look just now. Not sure why he didn't use cable ties at the very least.
  12. Hmm could you pick up new ends at like a Home Depot or Rona? I kinda live out in the middle of nowhere. Can you link maybe from Amazon the ends you're talking about? I'll see if I can buy them here.
  13. How do If I know if the cables (there's 2 of them) follow the T568A or T568B standards? Here's more of what they look like and where they plug into. They both connect to my router/modem and then one connects to the wall and the other the fiber optic box.
  14. So my ISP gave me cables that are way too long and I'm trying to come up with the best way to deal with it. 1.) Can I replace these cables with any kind of CAT 5E cable or better? If so, I guess I could buy shorter cables from Amazon, connect them and that issue is mostly solved, but I'll still want to keep some of the slack tucked against the wall so they're out of the way. 2.) Or maybe I can buy a piece of wall/baseboard moulding thick enough, stuff the cables into it, and tack the moulding onto the wall? I'm not sure how people usually go about hiding cabling like this. Ideally I'd prefer to avoid tacking anything into the walls because they have asbestos in them.
  15. Bumping my own thread. So, some new Windows Updates showed up (a few days ago for me) and I updated a computer in my house and I'm still getting this 0x80070643 error. Did MS not fix this yet, or is there a simple user fix for it yet? This is getting annoying to the point where I'm considering deactivating Windows Updates on all of my computers.
  16. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/kb5028997-instructions-to-manually-resize-your-partition-to-install-the-winre-update-400faa27-9343-461c-ada9-24c8229763bf All of these steps? I mean it seems like MS didn't properly beta test this release, so I guess I'd rather wait for them to fix it then muck around with partition stuff because I don't want to risk screwing something up.
  17. Any idea how to fix this? I tried a few suggestions I found online but neither worked.
  18. When I double click on an image via whatever application is the default and I have 100's of images in a folder, is there a quick way to find the image? Like I press 1 button and it links me to the file in the folder or something like that?
  19. What other exhaust spot? There's only one hole cut-out that a fan is already occupying.
  20. I did put the fan against the filter and I can feel decent airflow on the other side of the filter (outside of the box) so maybe It's worth putting the fan there as another exhaust?
  21. Ok, I don't know what that means. Here's the filter: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0BXJJH1X8?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details Should I put the fan against the air filter to help exhaust out?
  22. I have no idea what that means. It's just a small USB powered fan. Here's a photo of it. Don't know if that'll help with your question.
