  1. in a business methodology it would be better to have a 3rd party reshipper or person (more likely 3rd party that would contract out to multiple companies) so bulk shipments would go to them from LTT, then they would distribute ship to EU/ASIA for cost saving but if LTT already got there shipping cost down internationally this would not make economic sense. in a global world. remote offices or satellite offices or say NA< EU/ asia divisions don't make a lot of sense, where your engineering team can be your engineering team. your QA team can be your QA team. your HR can be your HR, only data may require localization and I bet my pennies that there are 3rd parties working on this that. being a localization proxy for major corps. why do you think the state of Nevada and Ireland have so many one person corporate head quarters. which is just a person paid to set at a desk. because when you can save millions paying 40 or 50k a year. is a small pittance and the cost of doing business.
  2. I hope this isn't against rules but heinz (old joke about a bag of flavours) try linuxquestions.org. it really is a one stop shop for everything linux. btw if you can install linux you can install a server, because all linux is a server (maybe some parts not installed by default or flags turned off by default) but if you do an install all as an option you got your basic server credientals. someone commented on Wifi. and I agree, you want your server hard wired (its better speed) and harder to do a MITM type of attack unless your MITM physically. that doesn't mean it couldn't offer wifi connections to it or through it to the internet. you just want the WAN of the server to be hardwired. a client server is just specific software for a game or an app, for example, minecraft releases there server side software for free. once that is running on the server all clients can be what flavour they want to be (windows or linux) they just connect to a server, in your case local. so for this type of server you need to research each item seperate. Linux server does not mean you'll be running everything in terminal btw. there are many graphical front ends for various server functions. terminal or console is well old school and I use it mostly and love it you can even spawn multiple consoles without loading a graphical desktop aren't all and if not all 99% of e-gpu thunderbolt? why not just gpu it. a lot cheaper unless thats part of a project. I've never played with an egpu or let alone one under linux. linux is not a graphic hog inself. so on this you will need to decide what you need out of the gpu and why and go ask in the appropriate section of linuxquestions.org okay the 10tb is just storage, if reduant replacemable storage is important you might want to look into raid. you need a boot folder and system folders and home folder. so depending on what you install most likely the system is well under or around 1gb this could jump up to 5tb for all (a compelete system install with all features and programs installed local) up to 5gb esp and recommended install all the documendation. I'd pick a popular basic flavour (linux distro's are so many and they are flavor(flavour's being a canuck) don't get involved in systemd pro vs con threads. linus shocking did you hear what he said posts? my own flavor is slackware or lfs (both are more programmer based than point and click) but I like the control. and remember you could with virtualbox and your own laptop right now install linux as an os TO VIRTUALBOX !not! !your! !pc! and play with it in there and figure out if you like the flavour. as for processor it depends on and ram and such you mentioned streaming 1080p. my old cpu i7-7700k is streaming a movie while I am on here and playing a game its using 1% cpu, its doing this to a chromecast to my tv at 1080p. sorry I wrote so much I am no expert just older than dirt any questions just ask.
  3. not my system 128 g nvme 3tb storage hd. the system already slammed over 1.5 years with windows updates and nvidia driver updates. he may have had a nasty as well but was nothing I could find. so I backed it and got users and all else with audit mode seamlessly on d while keeping the os on C. I am working with what i have. thanks
  4. oh I believe you I just want to know if anyone has experience with symbolicly linking those 3 folders and it blowing the os up I was thinking soft not hard so hard coded stuff would still go to c if all hell depended on it and it ignored the symbolic link for example if you point in registry C:\program files to D:\program files I found out the hardware it broke. GeForce install as it doesn't even ask for an install dir.
  5. situation tiny boot ssd 128 3 tb hd. want to keep the os on C and run the majority of programs off D I already did some googling and moved users to D with audit mode. now question is for program files and program files(x86) and program data on C can I symbolic link to same folders on D or is this going to require massive uses of advil. and reformat I'd experiment and find out but it took me a few wipes already to get find and implement audit mode to move users so would like to get this done. pc is fresh from audit mode all updates taken next steps a waiting. Thanks
  6. Comptia certs are a joke really a+ it should be called screwdriver 101. and the prices, I am a certified electronic engineering technician, with certs in plc programming and mil grade soldering with no a+ also been sysadmin and been dabling in pc programming and linux for more than 30 years. now. with no a+ cert or willing to spend those bills should I be denied a job where I am not qualified to turn an fing screw. please don't let common sense slap ya silly, btw I my it prof gave me 100% since I fixed his network, rebuilt all his pc's for free, so much the local school tech union showed up at the door was wondering why they had no work sent to them for the past 6 months and filed a complaint because I wasn't certified that tell you what i think of certs? my moto, fix it once, fix it right.
  7. Simply Linux does exactly what you tell it to do every damn time ( per Slackware ifs Debian (pre systemD) etc.. you compile source and compile all the dependencies yourself and it fubar's because you didn't read you so deserve to be hit by the RTFM paddle . windows lol, I been using pc's since 1984 when 300 baud was FAST. and windows is such an experience, what most often fixes is reboot. an update is trial and prayer now. and people PAY for this experience. a couple one liners I came up with fixing pc's and running networks. the day they put windows as the OS of airplanes, I am moving into a cave and buying a scrap metal business if the internet backbone ran on windows we'd be needing to spray the wet string again.

    Stream LTX

they've repeatedly announced on FP chat watching the panels live here, that there will BE vod of the panels. I figure it will take 2-3 days min (thats my opinion not official) as I think right now LMG and LTT are a bit busy and need a day or 2 of recovery. thanks for streaming it on FP it rocks and did all weekend.
  10. how about a channel and videos channelsupergeek. with very detailed videos, like how you on fp just released that cool new idea with you and Anthony. geek it out to minor detail and put it on channelsupergeek or an editing 101 by terrain. or a fan favourite host does lighting and camera or setting up a stream in 2019. you do so many videos and with fp growing and let's face it ltt is were we get our geek on.
  11. and asm. goasm and associated tools fasm Masm
  12. the wealth of a man can be measured by his good relationships, Linus you are a wealthy man, thank you so much. my wife who has maybe seen 5 minutes of your show ever. was laughing her ass off the entire show. well done everyone. I think the YT video is going to be about 3-5 minutes. thank you!
  13. oh, I totally agree 200% the problem is the interpretation of the law. that's my concern, EU, international companies, how it could hit say a blog poster with a weekly update up to and including Google and FB. and everything between.
  14. did you all miss the link tax, ask how that could affect ahem FORUMS, floatplane, youtube, twitch. all content posted must be owned. or proof you have permission. it's going to be so much fun.
  15. are you kidding if I could build a datacenter Anthony be my #1 steal.
  16. linus are so so wrong on this. where to start? hard to make a linux usb stick yumi rufus unetbootin there are more distro's out and modified distro's than you can shake a stick at check out distrowatch. and to pay for linux? it used to cost in the day we were on dialup 1200 or so and you paid for the media or shipping but it's so fast now. selling this is a bloody sin in my book. if anyone in my city needed help like this I'd wave my normal 25 I'll look at it fee. I implemented that to stop friends and family (don't drink or smoke) mooching. mind you if I can repair it in say 30 or so once I look at it that fee is including fixing it. that way my time doesn't get wasted (have a lot of repeat customers or did till my health sort of stopped me. but to me this is just gouging so anyone know a source of really cheap say 16 or 32 gig sticks. we should do this on reddit/r/linux or such and just work it as a crowd and sell the damn thing for cost.
  17. for me it was an 'oops' message on a linux box never ran into one before. so fired up laptop did some googling and voila learned what an 'oops' was and laughed at bsod from them on as an 'oops' is nothing to laugh at. '
  18. no, we should not let LInus near high voltage tools ever.

  21. chuckle we always said McAffee meant an instant reimage of the machine and norton required a second pc to not load the first.
  22. I will say what I use personally. comodo antivirus, firewall free version tuned to how I like it. my vpn is nordvpn. as for password manager there a few to pick from and I think all have had there issues I use lasspass but don't consider it the end all of that will keep a good record for me (they had a breach a few years ago) what I do. I have a tiny 32gb ssd extra hd in my pc. its not mapped to the os and I use it as a critical notes section I keep a file in there and update it a lot with notepad++ for me its masterpass.txt that drive is not shared or mapped and that file is stored on a secure folder on my cell is well. I could encrypt a usb and go all out but if i lose the usb or the key to it that make a nice doorstop. and for me I need to know one password. my pc password and my google password. once say I have to wipe my pc or install a new one with those to. once on my network everything syncs I am back I use my phone to reset up a few key things and go from there. I hope this helps.
  23. I agree 200%, did a cap let go next to the cpu or a mosfet blow? got a picture near the socket?
