  1. Hey Folks, Pretty unsure of what's causing this, but here's the skinny. Specs Ryzen 1700 Wraith Spire (Stock) ROG Strix B350F 16GB GSkill Flarex 2400mhz Asus Dual GeForce 1050ti (yea.. yea...) --------------------------------------------------------------------- That out of the way. I set it up stock out of the box. I chose at the time not to replace the stock paste on the cooler. My intent was to replace the cooler as a whole with an AIO unit at some point shortly after the initial purchase (February) but that hasn't happened yet. For a few weeks I kept everything stock standard out of the box with no OC. At the time I was not unconcerned with temps. They ranged from low 40s to 70s depending on activity (video rendering obviously higher than a WoW session. That said, after a few weeks i decided to try a moderate overclock which I'd read was comfortable even with stock cooling. I pushed to 3.5ghz and was stable with an voltage offset of +.0125 . Temps increased from mid-high 40s Idle - 60s gaming - 80-83 while rendering. Of course i expected a temp increase so i figured i'd swap out stock paste for some arctic silver 5. I was hoping for a drop of at least 2 degrees. Just to have something to show for my work. Anyhow. Put on the paste and rebooted. Started out nice at 36 degrees idle (still oc'd) and stayed like that.. Started a wow session and only climbed to 42ish. I was ecstatic. I, for some reason modified my fan curve. to smooth it out. I was increasing RPM not decreasing just not such a steep change between low to max. I reboot. Crash. Reset curve. to previous. Stable. BUT now the temps were idling at 50s So i dropped the overclock. Reset to stock settings. Idling at 50s. Straight up afraid to stress test right now because i fully expect to spike to 90+ Anyone think of something my dumb brain probably forgot? Thanks and take care,
  2. Dunno if this was suggested yet. But i appreciate Louis Rossman @ https://www.rossmanngroup.com Great videos on repair for basic repairs of the iPads I have here/screen replace/battery replace and any of my friends/family apple devices. He's not a super fan of Apple so if he knows how to make it happen i'm sure he will, my suggestion anyhow.
  3. Make a Pi smart mirror! MAKE PI MIRROR! You and your partner should then ensure you have a joint email you can send all your appointments, work schedules, lan parties and other such hyper important schnitzel to. You can communicate without even having to remember that thing you have to do thursday after next! There are going to be a lot of appointments, dentists, meetings, job related mumbo jumbo, functions, intervals and other IRL related rigamarole that if you're not a consummate organizationalist can quickly become overwhelming. This will be compounded by the fact that you're going to be running on coffee, adrenaline, and will power. As practical as a smellphone is you'll be holding a small person and fingering out a touchscreen is often not practical. Being able to see emails, important dates, weather, etc. at a glance is surprisingly beneficial. And remember your "should I's"... Also, put a florist on speed dial. YOU WILL do something stupid and YOU WILL be in the dog house for no practical and legitimate reason. She's hormonal and tired and she's just passed a watermelon through a keyhole after 9 months of bizarre cravings and uncomfortability. Unless your next move is to open an umbrella up your ass as a show of solidarity... Buy her flowers! It's a magical time.
