  1. I think the only thing I'm a little stuck on, is I feel like a high performance Nvme drive (Compared to my current drive) would provide a far more seamless experience with all these programs, whereas a proper workstation CPU would provide far quicker rendering and build times. If I was to choose between quicker build times or a smoother experience during development, I'd probably rather choose the smoother experience. I'm probably making this harder than it needs to be lol - Appreciate the reply though!
  2. I don't think the I5 9400F is all that bad as a workstation CPU - I mean CPUs like the i7 7700K were/still are considered very good CPUs for things such as video editing - With that in mind, the 9400F certainly can't be bad (6 cores which turbo upto 4.1Ghz can't be bad at all). You're certainly right about the i7 8700 being the ideal choice, but it is twice the cost of the i5 9400F. I do feel that if I was to save up for the i7 8700, I might as well just save an extra £200 and get the i9 9900k
  3. Bit of an odd question... probably not the usual choice you guys are given! Long story short, I've been upgrading my PC gradually over the course of the last few months; I use it both for gaming, and game development (So I regularly use software such as Premiere Pro & Photoshop, while also using Unity/Maya/Android Studio). My current system specs are: i3 8100 16GB DDR4 2666 RTX 2080 WD Green M.2 SSD (250GB) 1TB Seagate Barracuda Dell P2418D 2K IPS Monitor (99% sRGB coverage - 60hz) Obviously my system is all over the place in terms of specs, probably one of the only people in the world with an RTX 2080 paired with an i3 (Granted, it's 8th gen so it's fairly close to a 7th gen i5). I've no doubt the i3 is bottlenecking the RTX 2080 in terms of gaming, however, due to the 60hz limit on my panel, it's not something that can actually be noticed or improved upon with an i5 9400F, because this card maxes anything and everything at 1440p and still hits 60hz constantly with the i3; I'd want the i5 9400 just to help improve workflow (Rendering, build times during unity projects, and decompression mainly) - The other side to this though, is that my WD Green absolutely isn't built for what I'm using this PC for, and it's obvious while using it that it's struggling; the absence of DRAM is noticeable. Which brings me to the question - In my usage scenario, what do you all think I'd benefit more from, a CPU upgrade, or a 500GB Samsung Evo 970 Plus? Thank you all!
  4. Out of curiosity, how would they know the card is lost/stolen? Surely the person who lost it would need to know the redemption code or some sort of identifier to be able to trace it. If they don't I don't see how Amazon could possibly know you found it. If I was to buy say... an xbox live 3 month code and lost it on the way home, I'd have no idea what the redemption code is so would have no idea who redeemed it. Guess it depends, if like you said it was bought off of Amazon then it may be linked to it, it may not.
  5. I think I used to get it a lot as a child but never realised what it was until recently, when I experienced similar things (To this day, I'm sure the 'dreams' I had were real, but getting chased by a potato snake in slow motion isn't something I could ever justify being real). Sounds ridiculous but it was terrifying at that age lol. Recently I've had it twice - once I woke up asleep staring at the other side of the room, but had no bodily movement. Kinda felt like I'd been tied up and couldn't move no matter how much force I tried to put into it. Other time I woke up and my girlfriend was staring at me and whispering jibberish. Although that one I was fully aware of what was going on, so unless demons really do exist and that really happened (Which I bloody hope didn't) then it was probably another phase
  6. I think Fallout: New Vegas holds a place dear in my heart. Played through that game too many times to count, baffles me when some people say Fallout 3 is better (It's good, sure, but has nothing on New Vegas imo).
  7. 7 Years from now is far far too early for that imo. I think 4k 144hz is a more realistic target, if there were another 2 graphics cards generations released over the next 7 years. I mean generally speaking 4k 144hz is already a thing in eSports titles but if we're going to be looking at getting true, next gen games at 4K 144hz it'd need to be pretty special! Don't forget, as hardware evolves, so do the games and their game engines (Hence why we can easily do high res/high refresh rates in older games, but in newer games you can't come close unless you SLI the crap out of new cards)
  8. Thanks for all the replies! As for where I'm going, it's mostly decided, just thinking of possibly visiting Victoria & Whistler. I'm spending 16 days in Canada in total - 8 days is in Alberta (1 day calgary, 7 days Banff), then the rest in BC (Which from what I've read, is notoriously expensive). I'm not hugely fussed about where I eat - definitely would love to try Buffalo & Poutine in a restaurant though! Most, if not all the trip is just about going on a more active holiday than previous ones so probably will need to eat more than I'd normally eat to stock up on energy, as I'll be hiking a lot in Banff, and most definitely in North Vancouver & Grouse mountain. It looks so far like the best option is possibly to stock up on things in bulk - maybe buy a bag of apples and various other fruits every few days, bread & butter with various spreads & pancakes wouldn't be the worst way to start the day & possibly do a daily shop at the supermarket to make myself lunch and dinner with a couple of restaurant trips. Shouldn't be too difficult! Thanks again
  9. Hello people! Off to Canada in under 3 weeks, and I'm curious what you guys consider to be a reasonable budget for food. I'd allowed myself $50 (Canadian dollars) a day for food, but upon further reading some people say it's too much, others say it's too little. A mix between restaurants and self catering is ideal but if it's not enough for that, I'm happy to just self cater. For the Canadians here - what do you tend to spend per day on food?
  10. It's the GT 730 so yes it's 96. Although I'd get the GT 1030 if you're planning on buying it new because it'll give you far more performance (I know you said not to say anything about saving more money, but they're practically the same price), with 384 Cuda cores vs 96 and it's GDDR5. If it's used and the GT 730 is far cheaper then fair enough
  11. Used Tinder a few years ago when I was staying with my mate at his uni - had a pretty good success rate (Had to actually turn one girl down as I was meeting another one from Tinder lol). That being said my friend had a relationship with a girl who he met on Tinder and it was pretty toxic. Lasted 2 years and in that space of time she sliced his arm open with a knife, and was extremely controlling. Finally got him out of the relationship only for him to get straight back into another relationship (Although his new gf is actually nice, and they met normally), just a shame we don't see him very often
  12. Quite an interesting read as I'm actually going in just under 3 weeks, going on a rockies road from from Banff to Vancouver (Maybe I should go pay Linus a visit lol). I've been to the US and although I did quite like it, I was followed and also shouted at by strangers (all in the space of 10 days - neither of those things have happened to me in the UK in the past 5 years or so). Followed in NY & shouted at by a guy who was telling me to come over to a group of them in Miami. Definitely makes you feel a little uneasy.
  13. Battery issues with my old S8 were definitely there after a couple of months. When I first got the phone, the battery life was fantastic - I remember being quite impressed with it, almost always never needing to charge it before sleeping. After a few months it had changed drastically, was getting pretty hot and seemed to lose battery life from doing next to nothing, yet while actually using it, it seemed pretty normal in terms of battery drain. Seems like fast battery degradation could be a culprit however it's unusual for it to be that quick. Currently using the Mi A2 Lite (4000 Mah), had it for 3 days, and haven't charged it since 10am on the morning of the 7th (Over 2 days!), and I'm still on 30%. Will be interesting if it's the same story in a few months
  14. Very stuck on choice here. Had the P20 but I no longer have it - so need a new phone. The Galaxy s7 is almost twice as powerful as the Mi A2 Lite in Antutu, but it's used so the battery will most likely have degraded significantly over time. The Mi A2 obviously gets half as much score in Antutu, but the battery is 4000Mah and it's new so wouldn't have degraded yet. The other issue I'm facing, is I'm going to Canada at the end of this month (From the UK), and I'm not sure if it has the required network bands to work there? Price wise, the Galaxy s7 is £164, and the brand new Mi A2 is £169.99 Help would be appreciated
  15. No, it's basically to see if your PC is capable of running VR I believe it essentially emulates what a VR headset would use resource wise, by rendering two screens at once
