  1. Can you replace a processor without replacing the motherboard as long as the motherboard has the right socket?
  2. Hey Linus Community, I want to upgrade my computer and I'm wondering whether or not you all think it'll be able to handle what I plan on using it for. I plan on using the upgraded/new system to play CS:GO and Fortnite, as well as edit 1080p 60fps videos in Adobe After Effects. I'm planning on buying an MSI 1050 TI Graphics Card as well as a new Power Supply Unit. Do you think this would be able to handle my ambitions with my system? Although I'm sure a new PC would be better, I'm going to college in just over a year and will not bring my desktop with me, so there isn't much of a point in spending money on a new computer if upgrading my current one will work. Also, I'm majoring in Computer Science, so I'll have plenty of money to spend on a nice rig after graduation. Anyways, I got my system for free from a neighbor who was moving, so I don't know all of the components brands and specifications. This is my current system... CPU Intel i3-4730 Motherboard ASUS B85M-E RAM 2x4GB DDR3 GPU Intel HD 6000 (Integrated Graphics) Storage 512GB HDD PSU 300 Watts Hope to hear from you all soon, thanks!
  3. Hi Linus Community, Can you please share your opinions on this budget PC Build? I don't know much about PC Building and which parts are compatible with each other, but I think these parts work well together. Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core 3.2GHz AM4 - $189.99 Motherboard: MSI B350M Red LEDs AM4 Socket Micro ATX - $79.99 RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Series (2 x 8GB) DDR4 - $164.99 GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 1050 TI DirectX 4GB GDDR5 - $219.99 HDD: Seagate BarraCuda 1TB 3.5” - $44.99 SSD: SanDisk SATA III 240GB 2.5” - $79.55 PSU: EVGA 600W 80+ Bronze - $59.99 Case: DIYPC VII-BK - $34.98 This adds up to a total of $874.47. What do you think about this as a budget PC Build? I might want to buy a cheaper GPU and cheaper RAM initially, but many of my friends are telling me to buy GPU and RAM right not, even though their prices are inflated, because their prices are only going up from here on out. Hope to hear from you guys soon, thanks! Influx
  4. Hello Linus Community, I got a desktop for free that I would love to update with a new GPU and I want to make sure the GPU will be compatible with the Motherboard. My Motherboard is using is an ASUS Micro-ATX B85M-E. It currently has an open PCI Express 3.0/2.0 port and I plan on filling it with a GTX 1050TI (not sure which manufacturer yet). Would this graphics card be compatible with my motherboard? Also, I would most likely need a new power supply unit, but that's besides the point. My specs aren't too good, but hey, it's a free computer. These are my specs: Processor: i3 4730 Graphics Card: Intel HD 6000 Integrated Graphics Motherboard: ASUS B85M-E RAM: 2x4GB DDR3 (forgot the manufacturer) Power Supply Unit: 300W (forgot the manufacturer) Storage: 512GB HDD (forgot the manufacturer) Hope to hear your responses soon, thanks!
