  1. https:/nl.pcpartpicker.com/user/Zhenjin/saved/#view=Dyvcxr Budget: 1600€ or 1750€ if I'm really pushing it. I already have a few parts, see pc part picker list. Country: Netherlands Use cases: Mostly gaming (Path of Exile, modded Minecraft, total war Warhammer, etc.). Maybe some light streaming to friends sometimes. Programming in java/c# Intellij/Rider. Other details: I currently have 3x1080p 60hz monitors, I plan to upgrade one of them to a 1440p 144hz in a month or two. I highly prefer new over second hand, that way I at least have warranty if/when things break. Reason for upgrade: My old pc was slow, old and repeatedly breaking. Namely my GTX 770 finally died, then I got a second hand 780ti that died a fe weeks later. I suspect the motherboard or maybe PSU might be frying them, or maybe I just got unlucky with the GPU's. Not sure if the PSU really is the problem, it seems like a decent quality PSU, and I've only had for 2 years. (Doesn't still have warranty as I got it as an RMA replacement). I'll put a screenshot of the GPU artifacts in case it's relevant, both GPU's died in a similar manner. Looking for advice advice on: What GPU should I go for? Should I replace my PSU? What PSU should I get if I replace it?
  2. Are there any good ways for figuring out what exact parts are broken? That way I'd only have to replace those parts.
  3. After running perfectly fine for many months my computer started to sometimes fail to boot. All the fans are spinning. No image on the monitor. No POST code information, as I do not have such a speaker installed in my system. (I'm currently trying to find a store in the Netherlands that sells them.) Attempting to turn off the system using the normal power button has no effect. Cutting off the power going into the system manually works. (Using the button on the power supply itself or pulling out the power cable for example) Being the foolish person I am, I just ignored this problem and kept hard rebooting the system every time it failed to boot until it worked. Now the system fails to boot altogether. I don't know if it also did this when the boot failure was only sporadic, CPU LED on the motherboard lights red. PC specs: MOBO: Asus m5a99fx pro r2.0 CPU: AMD 8320fx RAM: Corsair value select 2x4gb (cmv8gx3m2a1333c9) PSU: Corsair 600M GPU: Asus GTX770 Things I have tried: I pulled out all the components out of my case, put my motherboard on a box, then tried running the system with just the mobo, cpu, ram, gpu, psu. Pulling out the ram, then trying both chips individually. Re-seating the power cables going into the motherboard. Testing my monitor using a different system. (It works) Turning it off and on again. I'd guess the problem lies with the mobo/cpu and/or PSU. I do not have access to other components/ systems (besides a laptop) to use for troubleshooting. Edit* Solution: It's working again now, i'm not sure what exactly fixed it, it could be either one or a combination of the following Having the system turned off and disassembled for a while Rapidly turning the psu power switch on and off Reapplying thermal paste on the cpu cooler. I'm guessing it was the thermal paste, since the cooler seemed to heat up a lot more quickly this time. I can't be sure tough.
  4. Hello everyone, I am looking for a laptop i can use for my IT school. My budget is 1500€ These are the school's minimum requirements "Inter or AMD Windows 7 or better 8 GB 128 GB" I will probably use the laptop exclusively for school. As I have a decent desktop PC that I use for gaming. If it can run LoL or new titles at low settings 60fps than that is more than enough. I do not know if I should go for a cheap laptop, or go for a good one. I would rather spend a bit more money than have the laptop be inadequate later down the line. If I can get something that is good enough for around 500€ That would be nice. If not and it would around 900€ to get something acceptable then I think I might as well go for something really good within my budget of 1500€ The trackpad quality is unimportant as I will be using a mouse. A good keyboard will be quite important tough. Thank you for your time and helping me : )

I can wait a tad longer with buying the keyboard/mouse/headset/monitor to get enough money for the last bit. What about normal fans to put in the case for airflow? SSD might be overkill for the games, but the USB HHD will be a tad too slow I think, and getting a new HHD on top of a SSD will be too pricy so I'm still thinking 240GB What are the differences between the motherboards? The differences with CPU, GPU and such I can understand; but motherboard specs don't make too much sense too me, besides just the plain connections I can see on the pictures. Does anyone know if thermal paste / static band are included by default with the other parts or do I need to get that separately? Thanks for all the help so far. I really appreciate it

Decent keyboard and headphones and mic? what (cpu) fans?
  7. Why hello there, This is the first time I am going to build a pc from the ground up. I finally got some money together to buy a good system and I'm really excited for it already I have upgraded my old pc a bit and watching a decent amount of video tutorials. But I am still indecisive about what parts I should get, and I hope I can get some help here. I prioritize: high - Price/performance med - Silent operation low - Looks 1. Budget & Location 1000 Euro, the Netherlands This store is (probably) the easiest for me. http://www.mycom.nl/ I think I will use it for the most buys except stuff I cant get there or things that are much cheaper elsewhere. 2. Aim Mainly gaming. (Game) programming once I finish high school and start learning it. Maybe some light recording and video editing. 3. Monitors At the moment I have 2 1440x900 screens. I know a good system will be overkill for those resolutions and I'm thinking about 1080p or 1400p, maybe g-sync if I can afford it. And then the 2 1440x900's at the side. Then using my old pc as small game server hosting pc with ubuntu or selling it and buying peripherals or a better computer for server hosting. 4. Peripherals I have those standard sheit mouse and keyboard, I might buy some better ones later. I am however looking for a good headset and mic. 5. Why are you upgrading? I need an upgrade to be able to continue playing good games. For a good while this pc was enough to play the games I played. I really noticed I needed an upgrade when I wanted to play ac4 and got 20 fps at lowest settings. Upgrading my pc would not really work as the motherboard and CPU are bottlenecking my pc the most. Current PC specs: OS win7 CPU pentium® Dual-Core E5200 2.50GHz 4GB DDR2 800Hz 250GB HHD + 1500GB USB HHD NVIDIA GeForce GT630 DDR3 2GB 1800 MHz ( 900 MHz DDR3 ) Engine Clock 810 MHz Creative Audigy SE Sound card Stuff I'm thinking about getting: http://www.mycom.nl/componenten/videokaarten/71853/msi-geforce-gtx-770-gaming2gb I'm thinking about this one because the performance seems like it would be superb, and it is g sync compatible, while being somewhat affordable http://www.mycom.nl/componenten/solid-state-drive/222230/crucial-m500-240gb Cheapest 240gb SSD I could find, I want the SSD performance, and 240 will be the amount of storage I will be using for OS programs and games http://reviews.cnet.com/external-hard-drives/western-digital-elements-desktop/4507-3190_7-33801792.html Re-using the 1.5 Tb USB HHD I already have for the mass storage, I might get it out of the case and build it in (tough I am a bit afraid that will fail) I'm not sure what to get for the rest. AMD CPU 4 core and low voltage for the over clocking? Fitting motherboard Decent/cheap: case, PSU, ram(8gb) and cooling -Also I do not need a new copy of windows
