deviant88 reacted to WMGroomAK in AMD Capsaicin and Cream live stream on 2/28
Sounds like it could be either a really good or a really bad adult film... Seriously, if they're going to release a name like that for an event, you need more details or people may get the wrong idea...

deviant88 reacted to patrickjp93 in AMD Ryzen Chips 10% Smaller When Compared to Intel Skylake Dies
The only die we have is an 8-core, and the 6900K is a cut-down 10-core die. Seriously people, think...
And even if this is a quad-core module, Intel has the iGPU included and AMD doesn't. Either way, huge density DISadvantage for AMD.

deviant88 reacted to 79wjd in Intel's 8th Generation Core Processors Won't Be Based on 10nm but 14nm
Except, at some point, Intel will need to build a 7mm fab. So, the sooner they can do it, the better it is for them. And the reason we don't have 6-8 cores at the $300-$400 mark is because Intel has no competition.

deviant88 got a reaction from Snadzies in NASA Plans To Explore A 10 Quintillion Dollar Asteroid That Could Cause The World's Economy To Collapse
Please create a rule against click bait titles i so fucking hate these threads they are top of the shitposting.
10 quintilion asteroid and collapsed economy f you and your senzationalist news this has nothing to do with reality, unless NASA itself announces a plan to bring the asteroid close to earth and actually mine it stop posting fake titles. Not to mention such an operation would be meaningless since the cost of operation would outweight that of the materials which would devalue quickly.
Also you cant bring an asteroid down to eart without burning in atmosphere and causing a massie impact scene.

deviant88 reacted to Simon771 in AMD Ryzen 4 Core rumoured to have Hyper Threading disabled.
I said 4core at 50$ sounds a great deal because we don't even know the prices yet. And the OP sounded like bashing on AMD and saying that 4 core CPUs aren't good. Well depends on the price.
And yes I do expect 4c/4t Ryzen CPUs to be around 120$ price mark. Or maybe a bit lower, just to get the market back to them.

deviant88 got a reaction from Space Reptile in AMD Ryzen 4 Core rumoured to have Hyper Threading disabled.
Dream on, half the performance and OC pottential of Ryzen at 50$ hehe nope.
At best case 4core will be prices 150$ just above i3 and undercutting i5's, but with OC pottential. 6 core will be undercutting i7 4c/8t models at ~300$.
Sadly even if these prices are good enough they will arive in the rest of the world outside of US at much higher prices add 100$ on top making Ryzen way too expensive, only in time they will drop, amd usually drops prices with time unlike shit intel. Im expecting to buy an ryzen 6core/12 thread OC unlocked in 2018 around <250$ but thats just a dream.

deviant88 reacted to LAwLz in Looks like the RX 480 keeps getting better and better
Do you really need to make multiple threads about how the 480 beats the 1060 in the same type of benchmarks (to be more precise, DX12 games)?
Also, that title is really biased.
The 1060 is getting 42FPS minimum, and 61 FPS average.
The RX 480 is getting 35FPS minimum, and 65 FPS average.
(1080p numbers)
The 1440p results are more in favor of the RX480.
The 1060 is getting 22FPS minimum, and 44 FPS average.
The RX480 is getting 26FPS minimum, and 47FPS average.
So at 1080p I'd say the 1060 wins. I would gladly trade 4 FPS (which are still above 60) for 7 extra minimum FPS.
The RX480 clearly wins at 1440p.
Both cards are unplayable at 4K so why even bother including that (that's by the way where the clickbate "16% faster" number comes from)?
Woho! The AMD card runs the game at 26 FPS instead of 23! Suck on that Nvidia! Oh, your minimum frame rate is 20% higher at 1080p? Well that doesn't count!
Something you also have to remember is that Nvidia cards sometimes performs worse in DX12 mode, so you need the DX11 numbers to get the whole picture.

i tought bulldozer/excavator was retarded and havent heard you complain about that, now that they have a decent naming scheme you cry because of a combination of letters and numbers, its not like 6770k makes more sense

deviant88 got a reaction from Donut417 in Without an OS
lets say things like they are, people NEED to learn linux in order to use linux, nobody used windows like it were their 2nd nature, it just happened that it was their first they learned and used, so changing their habits comes with resistance because they already know how to do that on windows in 2-3 clicks which is why microsoft holds windows world in a tight grip
its everyone's choice in the end, i love my arch linux and everything i learned about it

You need linux, use something simple like linux Mint cinnamon, forget about windows unless you're a hardcore gamer.

Intel plans to fab ARM chips. This 10nm of Samsung's will of course be an improvement over their 14 nm. Their 10 nm process is supposedly not that much smaller than Intel's 14 nm.

deviant88 got a reaction from Bensemus in Robots Will Take 2/3 of All Jobs In the Developing World, UN Says
We have been automating stuff ever since thousands of years ago, think about inventing the wheel instead of having a person carry each various resources back in those days you invent the wheel a big cart with horses 1 driver you load and you're on your way.
The difference nowdays is that automation reaches too deep in every domain and no longer we can create new jobs, comparing with the horse cart example, that created many new job opportunities unlike modern day robotic/AI automation which is driving everyone out and leaving nothing for the people.
I believe the solution is only UBI but with many many other new concepts and laws, for instance people should not just be given money and left on their own, they should actively participate in society. How? well everyone should follow continous training/retraining learning new stuff needed in the new world even if there isnt a job for him/her, people should have skills when needed, example a natural disaster occurs people should be mobilized from a pool of UBI assisted unemployed citizens that have undergone training in the meantime, for rescue missions, cleanup the mess behind the disaster and rebuild areas/help people relocate all for FREE without having to be payed since they already have UBI but not without any form of giving back, i cant imagine a UBI model where everyone sits on their ass drunk all day.

deviant88 reacted to zMeul in 2016: IE and Edge lose 331 Million Users
there are some extension
the problem is that you have to download them from Windows Store, and to access Windows Store you have to log in with the MS account - I'm not doing that

deviant88 reacted to SpaceGhostC2C in 2016: IE and Edge lose 331 Million Users
Although I don't like it either, replace MS by Goolge and that's exactly how Chrome works, with it's google account, it's play store, etc. I'm not surprised MS thinks it can work, given how many people use Chrome.
Firefox and its extensions are a different story, though.

deviant88 got a reaction from jagdtigger in 2016: IE and Edge lose 331 Million Users
HAHAHA Microsoft is like that kid who always laughs late at a joke.
Look at them trying to fight browser wars when the war was over a long time ago, firefox/chrome/opera/safari long won and ended the wars.
They completely lost mobile market, completely lost server market to linux, completely lost browser relevance, and only one little push is needed by some company and linux will take over the desktop hopefully in the form of a good Android-Linux port open sauce and no google preinstalled stuff.
Microsoft is a disaster waiting to happen, i hope it happens soon enough.
