  1. I have a CDL and used to drive over the road also. I know you said you dont want laptops, but i used to have a Nvidia 900 series MSI Titan laptop with desktop 980s SLI'd. Those things are the real deal, albeit heavy, low battery life and are like ovens. You can get killer performance from a laptop, you just have to be willing to part with battery life and a s*** ton of money. And for reference, I have identical desktop specs to you, literally. And I'm watching it all on an X35 Predator, so i completely understand not wanting performance loss. Just a personal opinion from someone in your shoes.
  2. It's only been a couple of months LOL, but here I am with some more major changes....and no, Im not being wasteful lol i sold the 8700K for a good price and kept the view 71 for my sons future build. Since last time, Old to new downsized case from View 71 TG RGB to Lian Li 0-11 Dynamic Razer 8700 K and Maximus X Hero to 9900K and 390 Aorus Master Swapped 6 old generic TT RGB Riing fans to TT Pure Plus. Removed Vertical Mounting and put in Lian Li Strimer RGB Cables. 4. i didnt realize you were fresh on windows, i thought you were actually using the 970. If i were you I would start there still, gpu drivers can be finicky at times EDIT: if this is a conflict i would go the DDU route. It just generally wipes issues like this alot better
  5. Awesome! Um i would say maybe since you were hotswapping GPU's to maybe delete the nvidia drivers and do another fresh driver install for the vega. Maybe use DDU (display driver uninstaller) if you want to super clean the drivers. At least that's where I would start. Albeit, I'm not overly familiar with AMD GPU's
  6. oh your psu may not be labeled as such. I just meant separate power sources coming from your supply
  7. Not to say that would fix your issue, but it could eliminate one possibility. I would run on from VGA1 and another separately from VGA2 just to rule it out with the TDP higher on the Vega
  8. No issue there then...The Vega is dual Pin, just to rule out another oddball thing, are you running a splitter or separate cables from the supply since the vega is dual and the 970 is single? If you havent ran dedicated cables yet, maybe try that as a first things first? I had issues with a 850 TT Toughpower supply on my 1080ti using a splitter EDIT: Sorry, IDK what i was thinking, i forgot the 970 was dual as well. Either way, if a splitter is involved i would still try dedicated.
  9. what kind of power is being supplied to this system? The vega56 pulls more power than a 970 would
  10. This is what i was thinking. Only the 2 absolute "worst" EVGA PSU lines (the N1 & W1 series) are either not rated (N1) or white rated (W1). Aside from those 2, The B1 and up are all at least 80+bronze. Not much EVGA puts its hands on can be called bad IMO. Am I saying the lower level ones like B series are great and I would personally use them? No I probably wouldn't. But I wouldn't say they are bad, they are simply not "enthusiast grade." Worst case scenario, it won't get off your mind and you "have" to replace it, you can pick up something like a Corsair cx650m for like 70 USD, and that is a quality entry unit to put your mind at ease.
  11. Your specs arent all bad for what you are playing now (or in general at 1080p,unless your aiming for AAA). If I were you at the moment and were aiming to play more graphical story-driven games, I would probably upgrade my GPU to whatever fits in your budget, and maybe a little futher down the road upgrade to a mid-tier i5/ryzen and 16 gb of DDR4 (which is extremely affordable as of late). As for your question about down the road, you will definitely want to upgrade CPU/Ram in a couple years due to more modern games beginning to use more cores and ram overall in general.
  12. I generally enjoy helping people in any way that I can. I was lucky enough to have a lot of people share a lot of knowledge with me about many skills/trades throughout the years, and have lived with extreme poverty to nowadays a very comfortable middle class life. Any time one can use their knowledge or ability to help another without causing undue stress on themselves, it should be a no-brainer. Good feelings aside, its the right thing to do and Karma is a Mot*********
  13. The Klipsch setup is one of my newest additions and i love it. Wasnt necessarily looking for that extreme, but I just so happened to stumble across the pieces on black friday for 50% off and kinda had to pull the trigger
  14. Thats exactly why I leave the grill on at almost all times lol . but it does make for an amazing underdesk ottoman (;
