Yummychickenblue got a reaction from dalekphalm in Thoughts on the Barbie Movie?
I really liked the film. It had a great soundtrack and and a good message about the goals of feminism and how thinking of the movement of as just "womens liberation" is a limited perspective. I enjoyed the dance-fight scenes at the end, they were fun. If I had to offer a critique i would say it didn't go far enough in exploring the ways that patriarchy harms men but it was the barbie movie not the ken movie.

Depends what the videos are about.

I do not watch videos like the cooler master PC or AliExpress/wish things for example.

But I do watch and enjoy videos like the old storage sever they bought, or upgrading the internet with fiber for example. Or just silly things like the big powerful fan.

So in general I watch more than one video a week but not all of them.

Yummychickenblue reacted to LAwLz in Gas Stove / Range gate? Discussed on WAN show
Yes, there are several ways your gas range is inferior.
    1) It can't get as hot as induction.
    2) It can't maintain as low temperatures as an induction.
    3) It causes you to breathe in toxic gases, and you absolutely do not know if it has interfered with your health or not. It's not like it causes you to get a cold and then it's over. It's an issue that builds up over time, and it is especially harmful to children. An estimated 12,7% of child asthma cases in the US can be linked to gas stoves. Even if they don't fully develop asthma, it can also lead to things like permanent wheezing. It also worsens the symptoms for people who have respiratory illnesses. It also carries a higher risk of other respiratory diseases like bronchitis and emphysema. Here is another source.
    4) The same toxic gases that are dangerous to humans are also harmful to the environment.

They are worse for cooking with. They are worse for humans to live with. They are worse for the environment. They are inferior.
Denying this is just denying science. Might as well deny the sky being blue.
Even if you have perfect health and have had no negative consequences of using a gas stove, it's still an increased risk. I have never been in a car crash. Does that mean I should drive without a seat belt because "it has never done me any good"? Of course not. It's about minimizing the risk, and it's about lessening the consequences of something bad happens.

    I am sure it hasn't...
Why do you refuse to buy a home that isn't heated by gas or cook with anything other than gas? It sounds to me like this is driven by emotions rather than facts.

Yeah, all those scientists named Karen are just attacking the poor fossil fuel industry.
The fossil fuel industry is the real victim here, not the tens of thousands of people with health problems that can be linked to fossil fuel usage.
I went through your post history and you seem to have an issue with experts in general. You disagree with experts regarding climate change. You disagree with experts regarding covid. Now you deny that breathing in methane gas can have negative health effects.
Do you ever stop and think "Maybe the experts are right sometimes"? If you constantly end up disagreeing with experts from various fields then perhaps you should reevaluate how you approach research. It can't be that experts are always wrong and you're always right, right?

Yummychickenblue reacted to starsmine in Modular Led Bulb with User Replaceable Components - Anyone?
Yes, the old CONSUMEABLE lamps conspiracy.

You could make a 1 dollar bulb produce 1k lumins at 60W and last 1000 hours
OR you could make a 1 dollar bulb produce 1k Lumins at 80W and last 2500 Hours

    Which one costs more?

    (its the 80W bulb)
    1*2.5 + 150*kw/h
    vs
    1 +  200*kw/h

at just 5 cents per kw/h the 1000 hour bulb is cheaper to run.
If, like a normal person, your electricity costs twice that, its even more of an obvious choice.

SUCH A CONSPIRACY. THEY JUST WANT YOU TO BUY MORE BULBS
Its also not the fact that lighting was the largest draw on Power stations(back then). It clearly wasn't that. Hell many Power companies would just... give you the efficient 1k hour light bulbs for FREE

Anyways, light bulbs are consumables, and the fact that modern LED bulbs will run for over a decade (assuming you are not cooking them) really makes the need to modularly change the led rather then the whole bulb enclosure kinda is to much.

The lamp already is modular as in you just swap out the bulb when they go out for a dollar.

LED bulbs that dont meet their rated hour rating are because of lack of heat dissipation.

You shouldn't be tossign them out anyways, there is a recycle stream for them.

The only way to ensure long-term data storage is by migrating the archive to new media every 5 years or so.

For longevity of one specimen of media, metal-alloy writeable discs (like M-Disc and DVD-RAM) and magnetic tape are your best options. They'll last for decades.

Well at this point is pointless not to lump hackers and crackers in one happy group because the media has been doing this for so long that the Average Joe thinks that all hackers are bad. The media could at least identify the group of hackers that ey are talking about. (black hat, grey hat, white hat)

Technically you can as they do give off some rads not anything noticeable but they do and it would take a long time (you might be able to sipped up the process by using a CRT monitor)
