The Hero motherboard is designed for high end overclocking.  3 M.2 slots are available in MANY boards, at half the price.

We get you have a lot of money, but buying items just because they're expensive makes no sense (well, if you have some need to buy expensive things, then go nuts I guess).  Buy what fits your use case.

Faster due to having a slew of Efficiency cores, So yes the i9 is faster in theory but I'm sure AMD has an ACE up it's sleeve it's holding under wraps.  Did you ever look into Optix for blender?

That is absolutely true, I've never found to many issues with Intel HEDT other than usually being a little behind on performance but always had some great stability.

X299 isn't competitive on CPU performance compared to really anything modern though.

(I run Intel HEDT because I like it, not because it's good)

Looks like uh... 2 3090s might still be faster, but barely, and drawing nigh double the power: https://www.pugetsystems.com/labs/articles/NVIDIA-GeForce-RTX-4090-24GB-Content-Creation-Review-2374/
The single 4090 looks to be consistently very close to 2x 3090s in various render applications (in blender specifically it's almost double a single 3090, meaning it would closely match 2 of them).

How many USB for the rear i/o do you need?

Honestly with that much have you considered looking at HEDT platforms? I know there isn't much from either side, but my experience with 12th gen is the boards/windows gets really un happy with to many USB devices.

They don't pool VRAM. 3090s can use an NVLink connector for high bandwidth SLI, but they do not use actual NVLink features like a quadro.

Why would you get 2 RTX 3090's? There's very little use last I checked in the modern era for SLI. Only a handful of games & applications even support SLI anymore. If you really want two GPUs, I believe it's becoming more common to have one Nvidia GPU and one AMD GPU so you can have the best of both company's features. So, something like an RX 6900 XT would do nicely if you wanted to go down that route. Or, you could just get the new RTX 4090.

Personally, I'd opt for a bit more storage, as 2 TBs can go rather quickly, especially when you have massive blender projects and such. You can get a few SATA SSDs and use them in Raid one, or alternatively just a crap ton of HDD storage if you really want it.

    Why not a 4090?   It's about 2x 3090's from what I have read.

Parts for the PC vs parts for the water cooling, easier to look at one then the other.

Hero motherboard.... you going L2N?  Cuz that board isn't worth buying for what you're doing.

1 GPU will be better for gaming, unless you have workloads for using both GPU's

Yep. The NVLink connector just acts as an higher-than-high-bandwidth (as they already made "high bandwidth" SLI bridges for older cards) SLI bridge, it doesn't enable NVLink features like VRAM pooling.

iirc Nvidia cards are better for rendering blender stuff, that's not to say AMD's offerings are complete garbage, but I believe Nvidia's GPUs are a bit more optimized for that kind of work atm.

The Hero has specific features catering more to XOC/Subzero. I would look more towards Something like the Asrock Steel Ledgen or even the EVGA boards

I agree as I am new to taking this direction I feel it is best to sit 1 on 1 with someone who knows better than me. That can be hard to come by in some aspects but I will do my best. I have always been far more interested and use to hardware and maintenance of personal and work computers. leaving that to go into the cyber space is undoubtedly difficult. I do believe in my ability to learn and grow with the expansion. Since I will be given almost full control of the section of business and having a close relationship with the owner I also feel I can control the speed of growth to be manageable and allow me to grow with it.

I understand that I didn't really answer the question you asked but I am trying to help you.
This seems like a far bigger thing that just answering if a fingerprint is better than a password, which I should add I did answer.

Reading through your post I get the impression that there is a lot of potential for improvement here. You are probably not in a good situation right now in terms of ease of work or security. Getting some management system in place is a big step in the right direction, but to do things "properly" you would probably need to get help from some experienced person and have a plan that encompasses the entire IT environment, what to implement, how to implement it and how to do maintenance on it.
I think you need help that is hard to get from a couple of strangers online.

I said that because you are here asking for help.
A surprising amount of people on here are way above their heads but still refuse to take in professional help because "nahh, I don't need help, except with this one question".

I have read through the thread and there are a lot of things that you should do in order to get a fairly safe and reliable setup. As far as I understand it, you don't have AD either, and I'd say that's the first thing you need to get sorted. You should not have a bunch of local accounts that you have to manage.

You entirely missed the point. Any security system can be hacked and if you are trying to balance ease of use and robustness then fingerprint does make things alot easier for the people working at the company while also adding a good layer of protection. Sure someone could fake the fingerprint but again the point is that it's not easy to do so most won't bother for a mom and pops place because as there are easier or more high value targets. Also if someone is specifically targeting the company because they want some secret recipe lol then it likely doesn't matter what security system you use as they will try and get around whatever implementation you use and a highly motivated person can probably get through using various methods.

That seems real excessive. Id let the users create their own passwords. This will probably improve security as a easy to remember password is less likely to be on a sticky not on the monitor or somewhere else.

This means you also know there password, and thats generally not ideal.

Normally you would want your own admin account you use. That also makes sure that users are using their account, so actions can be tracked by user.

If your the admin on the system, you can reset their password if they lose it. This is why Id really recommend getting some sort of management system.

How many computers are we thing?

Do you have to follow any compliance requirements.

Since your on windows, Id go with Microsoft's management tools. Fairly cheap, and powerfull to do all you could want here. Then you remotely reset users passwords, install software on all systems at once, check if they have updates, setup windows hello for business, and other things.

25 characters is very excessive, and seems like a hassle with no benfit.

Do you check your password against known common or compromised passwords. Thats probably the most important step to password security, as it prevents password sprays from working

What software are you using? Are you using AD?

Id do a good amount more planning before setting this up and deciding on a solution.

What systems do you have? Do they have fingerprinter readers?
