  1. reinstall linux, your problem occurs because of a bad installation.
  2. building a pc its like using very fragile legos, imagine bending a pin on a ryzen or on a motherboard. If I were you I would get more experiencie before opening a business. Imagine that a client calls you about an incompatibility of a driver and lots of other situations. bye
  3. Nice, does it reduces totally the noise of a high end pc?. bye
  4. i normally use "dd" command under linux, its free and works perfectly. Its easy, dont let the linux terminal scares you. bye
  5. i know a guy who losses some files because google drive deleted his account directly. No cloud its really safe, for a good backup strategy 3 backups its the ideal. Local, nas, cloud.
  6. when trying to recover files from a failed drive always clone the drive with any tool thats able to do a sector by sector copy, it will generate you a file with the exact copy of your hdd before trying to rescue files that can be lost forever. BTW a good backup policy it at least 3 copies of the most important data, 1 on pc (local copy), 1 on nas, and 1 on cloud. I hope someone finds it useful this suggestion. bye
  7. both companies collects a lot of data, but whats the alternative. An old motorola v3 or another simple phone, not a smartphone.
  8. i have a linux ubuntu server hosted on a datacenter. I am using it for the backend of my 10 apps/games I have at google play. And 2 of my webpages. Its fun to admin a server, read its logs and see lots of crawlers and attemps to hack me without success. bye
  9. so you are going to help someone with his business without being qualified for it. You are going to do more harm than help really...
  10. for a good backup strategy, you require 3 copies, local, nas and cloud. And I never said you dont need a nas backup, just that if you only rely on the nas it could be corrupted randomly. bye
  11. Id ask first: how much value does your data is worth? If its important data with just a NAS its not enough. You may require a cloud backup just in case the NAS corrupts all the filesystem with all the data (i had a client which loses all his business data with a similar situation). As far as i know in synology nas you can install an app which syncs to amazon all the data, but you must pay for the service. bye
  12. two days have passed. Where are the specs and images of the new hardware? We are waiting.
  13. by having only one server you have 1 point of failure, imagine a dead motherboard, this would make you been without all the pcs for a while. Having multiple pcs also gives you more reliability.
  14. linux (debian or ubuntu server, no desktop environment) as any decent server. You can access it using ssh and configure it pretty easy.
