I bought a wireless charge adaptor for my Note 2 a few years back. It was just stuck inside and made contact with 2 pads on the internal shell. I think it just shoved out 5v. May be able to use one of them, they were available for quite a few phones.

As someone who is currently in the process of repainting some cases for custom builds, I have a few suggestions/tips that you might find helpful. First, yes prepping the case is the best way to ensure your paint looks good once finished. A light sanding to remove any existing coatings, then a basic soap+water wash to remove any leftover dust and stuff and air dry will be enough for most cases 🙃 then you need to consider your paint, and the types of materials the case is made from. If you have a case that has both metals and plastics, like the ones I've been working on, look for paint that specifies what surfaces its made for, and if it contains primer already or not. I personally would recommend Krylon Fusion as its made for multi-surface applications and also is a paint+primer formula so you don't need to worry about applying primer first buuuut that's just my experience with it and you may also not have the same paints available where you are. I can only get a decent selection of Krylon at my local Lowes and everywhere else has Rustoleum which I have not tried.

The second thing I highly suggest to get a nice, even coat on all of the surfaces is to take the case apart as much as you possibly can. For mine, I even went as far as drilling out the rivets and taking it down panel by panel so I could paint every piece individually, but you might not want to or have the tools to do so. If you do, this mnpctech video shows how to do so and the stuff you'll need.

Lastly, make sure you get a top coat to seal it all up once you've applied the color and whatever details you want. I've only just gotten into the case modding and painting thing but so far, its been fun, and I'm really looking forward to finally finishing a project this summer. Good luck to you!

I have the K95 Platinum and as said above, Corsair uses a non-standard bottom row and the only pudding style keycaps right now are standard sizes and generally only in sets. I looked and looked when I bought my set (the Hyper-X one) but could never find any with the right dimensions for my board, so I left the keys that wouldn't fit and it really doesn't look too bad tbh. I thought it would bother me more than it did, but it really never was an issue after the initial "aw poop" moment when I realized I couldn't make it a whole matching set.

LOL No. LTX should stay right where it is. The USA already gets every feckin convention under the sun you could possibly want. You want an LTX-like event in your area? Start your own.

Well, you can always shower at any gym. City pools have a shower fee of a couple dollars. Use baby wipes or just cover body odor with Axe Body spray. A quick wipe down at any Tim Hortons coffee shop washroom. Truck stops you can use their showers, and if someone just got out you can use the dirty shower for much cheaper.

I volunteered and spent my Saturday at the con, Sunday working. Being a broke college student, I couldn't afford a hotel so I decided to pull an all-nighter in the BYOC...

DON'T. That was a mistake ? I was miserable most of Sunday, having been on my feet basically all day the previous day and with no real rest in between. I was lucky enough to be working the Gaming at Every Price Point booth, which was right next to Vertagear, who graciously let me lounge in their chairs the whole day.

So with that experience in mind, as much fun as I had last year, being miserable and dead on my feet wasn't the best idea and my drive home was not fun either. (I drove up from Washington)

I think I'm going to try and book a hotel this year, and will probably try to do the BYOC properly as I only brought my laptop last year which isn't meant for gaming and I've since upgraded my desktop to something I feel actually proud to show off, however its still a chonker and carrying it down the stairs in my house is terrifying...just the prospect of moving this thing around is why I didn't bring it last and opted for the laptop instead. I'm also definitely driving up again, as I'm only about a 2-hour drive away and that's the cheapest and easiest option for me. Assuming I have the funds, I plan to do it properly this year and not try to run on nothing but coffee and prayers on Sunday lol

If you're like me, and you're coming on your own, and really don't need a hotel for much more than sleep and a place to change clothes, the Panda Pod hotel looks like a good deal. I think I'm going to book one of those this time around, so when I get tired of playing around at the BYOC at like 4am I can go snooze and actually feel like a human again for the second day. I also plan to volunteer, and if that's an option for you I also highly recommend it! Volunteering last year was awesome, and having volunteered for other conventions in the past like PAX I'd have to say this has been my favorite to work so far.

Just to point out, if you need Gen 4 PCI-E you will need both a Gen 3 Ryzen AND an X570 board. A 2600 with an X570 board would still not have PCI-Gen 4!

You can clearly see in that photo that the cord is not properly inserted in to the socket.

It is clearly not inserted fully in the photos you provided, which also explains the symptoms you are having. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it's probably a duck.

You just perfectly explained why you cannot trust amazon customer reviews, especially when it comes to things like power supplies. Any customer who doesn't know how to plug in the power cable can go on Amazon and leave a review. Just because you know how to click "Add to Cart" does not mean you know how power supplies work.

How many programmers does it take to plug in a cable?
Wrong department; that's a hardware problem.

The more files you have, the longer backups take (or at least the initial backup if you use something that only copies files if they have changed), but the less you'll lose if you have a failure. Invest in some sort of external storage - either an external HDD, a NAS, or a cloud storage service to backup your important files. If you watched the recent Synology NAS video as Linus said its the 3-2-1 rule of data backups: Have at least 3 copies of your data, store them on 2 different kinds of media, and keep one safe off-site. I was taught the same thing in my IT classes.

@Tech Deck If you're not comfortable potentially ruining a perfectly good CPU, don't try de-lidding it. It sounds like you should be fine if you replace the stock cooler with a better aftermarket one. I'd try that FIRST, before anything else, because if it works then great, you're done. If not, then you could look into de-lidding if you feel comfortable risking it. Always start with the safest option first! It will save you a lot of headache and potentially money.

I'm not familiar with the MSI BIOS but it should be pretty similar to most others, there should be a section for "Advanced config" and listed under north bridge config. At least that's where it is for me on my asrock board. If you have your motherboard manual handy (you can also Google it for a digital pdf) it should also mention where that setting is located specifically for your board. I added a pic of my bios screen that may or may not help depending on how similar yours is.

I upgraded from an old AMD A8 to Ryzen 5 3600, and for the first week when nothing worked I started to regret my decision there. But, once you nail down the cause, and find your fix (in my case I sent both the CPU and RAM back to Newegg for RMA) everything is great.

Even if your CPU doesn't have visibly bent pins, it can still be faulty. It could also be a matter of a few pins not having made proper contact, so removing and re-seating it again usually fixes that. If your problem still persists then it could be a fault in the CPU that isn't visibly apparent, or it could be a different component.

To test your RAM, you have a few options. Windows has a built-in memory diagnostic that you can use. I'd also suggest Memtest86 as that's been the gold standard for RAM testing for basically as long as I've been alive. Its a pain in the ass but you'll have to run tests on each stick of RAM separately as well as together, and you'll also want to test each stick in each slot on your motherboard. That can narrow down if the cause is a faulty RAM slot and not a RAM module itself.

I never got the chance to say goodbye to or thank some of the people I met at LTX, some of whom saved my poor butt this weekend. I am TERRIBLE with names, but if you helped me get food, pay for parking, lent me an ethernet cable, kept me company, gave me snacks, talked to me in lines, got me Madrinas, or anything else, please shout out here so I can say thank you! I had an absolute blast this weekend but were it not for the kindness of these people I met, these people who were literally strangers to me, I would not have been able to enjoy it nearly as much. Seriously, I am so grateful to everyone that helped me in any way this weekend.

I also want to say a huge thank you to @CPotter and @RILEYISMYNAME for just being so gosh dang nice and easy to talk to about everything. And the rest of the LMG staff for pulling off such an insane event so well. I hope you all get a good few days to rest and recover and I cannot wait to see what you do next year.

I also hope to see more familiar faces next year, and if you were one of the people who helped me out this year I owe you dinner or something.
