The computer shuts off repeatedly, with no warning. I wonder why, so I'm going to take parts out until I can find out what's wrong. Wow, there's a lot of gunk on this chip, that might be the problem *Wipes "gunk" off the chip*. I think I'm going to put the parts back together now, I think it'll work.
 
The mindset of my friend. Needless to say, the computer didn't work at all after that. I'm honestly not sure how he learned to take a fan and CPU out, and put it back in, but I thought it was hilarious when he told me what he did.

Don't treat them as equivalent options, one is $200 more expensive. You don't have to get the PG279Q just because you have an NVIDIA card.

I have no idea unfortunately, I've never used a curved monitor personally.

There are a few 144+ Hz IPS monitors like the MG279Q, but they are expensive. For cheaper options a VA panel like the C24FG73 are also pretty good, but they mostly all from Samsung, and they are really into curved monitors right now.

Assuming the Intel HD 6xx series is similar to the 5xx series and assuming the low end GeForce 6xx series is similar to the 7xx series, the GT 630 is likely far better than the HD 610.
 
The fact that my old GT 710 significantly beat out the HD 530 actually surprised me a bit, so unless the 6xx GPUs in both series are drastically different than those two, it seems likely the GT 630 is the way to go.

I think you could, especially if a game doesn't allow for anti-aliasing but allows you to run it at arbitrary resolutions for whatever reason. It's like running a game through an emulator at a much higher resolution than your monitor's native resolution; the textures won't improve by themselves but you're going to get the textures (and every other asset as a matter of fact) displayed a little cleaner. Let's take Team Fortress 2 as an example:

It's a game meant to run at 720p, or 1024x768. It's running at four times that resolution, and notice that while the textures aren't that high a resolution, they do look sharper. Take this down to 1024x768 and not only would rough edges smooth out very fast, stuff in general would look cleaner, and you get the benefit of screenshot porn.

You can see a good example of this in the blue build in my signature. I used that fan controller to control four fans (Corsair AF120's)

I wpuld personally get a small fan hub like this and buy a two pack of air flow fans, and plug all three case fans into it so that you can control all three fans with one motherboard header (note that the connectors are 3 pin, and the connection from mobo to controller is 4 pin, this gives you PWM like control for three voltage regulated fans[its not real pwm])

Okay, I'll try that and report back once I've found out about it. I can consistently get it to go down to half speeds by simply playing a video while playing WoW, so I can test it every time I try something new.

Okay, finally did everything asked (although it took a LONG time to boot up Windows after using DDU for some reason) and it appears to be working well now. Went to WoW, started up a video, and no issues yet (it used to go half speed consistently from doing so) so I think this is solved.
If the issue happens to come up again after a while (hopefully not) I'll probably just start a new thread.

This is an excellent cheap option. If you want to get a better one for even further in the future, or aim to get something better than an i5/gtx 1070-like rig, I'd probably recommend something like this (although there are quite a few good options in the $80-100 range).

NOT upscaling, downsampling. Very different thing and the results can drastically vary. For me, I've never been able to downsample and have it look good (with either AMD or Nvidia GPUs - it always looks VERY blurry for some reason). Although if you can get it to work for you, it should definitely look much better than if you were to upscale from 720p to 1080p, for example.

I just don't like how they were in the Ryzen review. Quite misleading with it and insulted intel in the process. 
I get that rooting for AMD overall is a good thing (promotes competition and a more free market blah blah, we've heard it a thousand times) but that video was both misleading and unfair to both companies in different ways, probably to avoid hate from all the AMD fans. 
This is not the Linus that I know. The Linus I know promotes accurate information (even if most of it is basic knowledge) no matter how ugly the truth may be at times.

Yeah, I get that. I respect your post for what it is- just figured I'd share my thoughts on the link you gave as someone who's trying to look for another anime.
