  1. It's HDMI. Is there any way to check which version? I'm almost certain that it's 1.4 due to its probable age in this house. Well, you make a thread for help to... get help. Not have a bunch of people tell you what you already know
  2. Finally, information that actually goes beyond what my original post thinks of. Now we're getting to the "help" portion of this thread.
  3. Sort of (it's WoW), and he's still able to play at 60 fps (which is literally the same thing, only thing different is it's not being visually presented by the display).
  4. To play WoW obviously (4k's intensive, but not THAT intensive). Also, any updates on what the 860m actually supports?
  5. And it still plays 4k. So, unless you've found any compatibility issues, it's safe to say this comment wasn't helpful. Just states what I mentioned in my comment.
  6. Sorry if this is the wrong thread, never good with categorizing. My uncle has a 4k TV (capable of 60Hz) that he runs his PC on to play WoW. He doesn't have any issues except when he switches to 60 Hz. When he does, the PC will get significantly more laggy (during WoW) until it locks up (forcing a hard reset). Any idea what the issue is? My best guess is the GPU doesn't play ball (or WoW rather) with the change, although I've never actually heard this issue before. The PC is an alienware alpha - I believe this model. It uses an 860m (performance is similar to a 750 ti).
  7. A60/OMG: http://bombch.us/CRof AW80: http://bombch.us/CRog AW50: http://bombch.us/CRoh I'd imagine the AW80 to be the best, but it's been the same price as A60/OMG before and the A60/OMG headset's a #1 best seller that mentions itself as being updated.
  8. I'm caught up on all my latest episodes for what I watch. I watch RT Podcast, Off Topic, and Wan show. Comedy is what I want to see, though if it's from gamers I look at that as a plus. I used to watch PKA, TWiT, FNG, and The Patch (in case you want a better understanding of my own tastes for recommendations)
  9. Since the 980 Ti and X are so close in performance, this is reasonably accurate http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1771?vs=1715
  10. What kind of anime is Darker Than Black? Anything in particular stand out about it? I haven't seen it, was thinking about it though.
  11. For some reason I don't really learn well from Youtube. I get the basics no problem (and without the need to draw shapes off the start), but I can't really get angled perspectives right.
  12. What's a good website to help me draw anime/manga?
  13. Imo, get a refund on the 1070 (can you do that?!) and save that money for a 1080. If you can't do that, I wouldn't recommend upgrading. You'd get too small of a performance boost to make it worth it. If you do a decent amount of rendering, the 6800k might be worth it. Keep in mind though that the 6700k is frequently the PEAK in terms of gaming performance (based on Linus' 6950x review). Either way, I'd recommend selling the 1070 and saving to get a GTX 1080 in favor over upgrading the 4790k to the 6800k (assuming we're still talking only gaming).
  14. Where can I go to learn to draw anime/manga? I suck balls at it, my faces look like super low detail crap with hair.
  15. Note that the RX 480 will not 1440p75 unless you're playing games in the late 7th gen or games that are made for easy 60+ fps gameplay (like Battlefront)
  16. Okay, but remember that it's actually the best thing I have as a current option so I'll probably try the oven method. Any particular tips or videos to make sure I minimize my chances of screwing it up?
  17. imo troubleshooting threads should very rarely conclude to a "meh whatever, just get a better GPU" state, if for no other reason than experience with hardware and the learning process. To answer though, no... most modern iGPUs still aren't quite on par with the 8800 GTS. I'm unfortunately unlucky enough to have an iGPU of an older CPU though, the Athlon II X2 240.
  18. And of course I get a troll comment with my luck... >.>
  19. I have my uncle's old 8800 GTS now in an attempt to get it to work. The issue is that when I turn the PC on (with it in), there's no display. The fan works (which indicates that it's not a power issue) I tried taking the fan off and reapplying the thermal paste I tried getting as good positioning in the PCIe slot as possible when turning the PC on I tried using both DVI connectors. Neither appeared to make a difference. I haven't tried the oven method. Don't really want to >.> ... guess I could try as a last resort though. The PC works (with the card in) when I use the iGPU for the display. As far as I can tell though, Windows doesn't seem to recognize the GPU at all. Any other ideas?
  20. I have a $5 gift card. I want The Evil Within. Can I make that happen with both the gift card and my debit card?
  21. Hmm, really? I'd expect Dark Souls to be more like Mirror's Edge's countering, where you have to properly prepare to react based on your enemy rather than instinctively react. Since I haven't tried it myself though, guess I'll look more into it.
  22. As a gamer who plays pretty much all types of games, I have quite a few skills. A lot of them are actually quite good, but only really when not timed or quickly paced (like Civilization, slower paced RPGs, Stealth games, etc.) However, even after years and years of practice with fast paced FPS games, my reaction speed still sucks (I still get tunnel vision in games too as well as poor[ish] aiming, though not as bad). Keep in mind that my PC sucks (like, lags on League of Legends :P). Anyone know of a website that'll help me improve in reaction time? Also sites for aiming or paying attention to many things at once help as well.
  23. Assuming you get perfect scaling in games the 6990 will outperform the 270x however I recommend the 270x for many reasons, here are a few: Cooler More overclockable (the 6950s and 6970s were shit in overclocking) Works with more modern software (Mantle is the first that comes to mind) Consumes much less power and requires fewer connectors Allows potential for crossfire that would end up drastically beating the 6990. Crossfire doesn't scale perfectly in everything, especially non-AAA titles.
  24. For a frame of reference, the lowest price on eBay is ~$135 for a legitimate 760 which is pretty normal for used Nvidia cards in price-performance. I'd expect you to be able to sell it for ~$150 or ~$175 depending on the brand and method with which you want to sell. I wouldn't expect much higher than that tbh, but if you're lucky I can see it possibly happening for a bit higher.
  25. Yeah, an i3 being bottlenecked by an R7 370 is unlikely in the more CPU intensive scenarios, let alone games like the ones you mentioned. Do you get freezes elsewhere? Have you tried anything else that could be GPU intensive like video rendering with GPU acceleration?
