Depending on what you're doing, it might bet worth getting the extra RAM in there even without dual channel. That laptop comes from an era when the benefit of dual channel was minimal. On a modern system it would make a more impactful difference.

screwing drives and cable management are for rubes. (Except floppy drives, which were important to screw in because of the mechanical eject.) I used to screw everything down, cable tie, etc. Now I don't even bother reattaching the side of the case, let alone mount drives. everything is just dangling. And it's fine. Everything is fine. Drive swaps are fast.
