  1. Apparently I needed to start Folding@home from the start menu, not just FAH control.
  2. I restarted my computer now my client will not connect. I did not find anything about this on FAH site or the FAQs here on the forums. I think I may have selected manual start when I installed FAH, but I figure all I need to do is open my client advanced control and it should be fine, no? The web control won't work either. Is there something special I need to do to start the FAH service??
  3. Anyone else having trouble getting any assignments. Both my CPU and GPU are in Waiting On WS Assignment status and they have been for about 24 hours, as far as I know I've been connected to Work Server 140.163.4.231 for that period as well.
  4. It would take quite a bit of testing, and it might be out of the scope of the LTT team's abilities, but I think testing a Tesla Model S, then disassembling it to install a custom watercooling loop would be, probably the most enchanting video we'll ever see. Linus said on video he would like to start doing car reviews "in the future" when he was working in his garage at one point, and I think this sort of adventure would be just the ticket for the inaugural video of such a series. You just know this board has custom water cooling written ALL OVER it ? Godspeed!
  5. I’ve been battling with poor WiFi performance in my new home for a year now. I have my bases covered now, but the setup is deplorable and it’s not worth going into details. So mesh WiFi... I’m very interested in the obvious choices (most notably the Linksys Velop, but also the Google WiFi and Netgear Orbi) but tri-band support is a very scarce feature. If I’m going to be spending nearly $1,000 (if I go with 5-6 satellites) I would really prefer the system to be relatively future-proof... Am I wasting my time waiting for more tri-band offerings in the mesh WiFi space? Should I just pull the trigger and buy a system now? If yes, what system do you all recommend? Linksys’ range and management options makes it a dominant contender, but Netgear’s system already supports tri-band. Of course, Google WiFi is also an interesting option given good reviews and the low price tag. Help.
  6. I'm thinking of going with a RAID 1 or RAID 10 setup... though my search to determine which controller I should buy has been confusing. I see huge price ranges and plenty of brands I don't recognize and simply don't know where to start. Any suggestions? Thank you!
  7. So for no reason other than just random fiddling I decided to try every combination of my 4 monitors. Additionally I switch from IGD to PEG in my BIOS. Yes, tinkering with 2 variables at once but sue me I was at a loss, especially after your last comment @pip313 Now that I have PEG selected (did not seem to matter before), what causes havok is my 4th monitor. I have 3 LG 24EN33 monitors which work perfectly fine (2x DP, 1x HDMI) and 1 ASUS VG248 (connected via DP) Once again I suspected a driver issue with the ASUS but windows says that driver is up to date. The ASUS is listed in the control panel screen resolution settings, but when I try to set the ASUS to "Extend desktop..." my computer briefly hangs when I click Apply. When using the NVIDIA Control Panel to manage the monitors my computer hangs entirely when I try to activate the ASUS and never recovers. Any bright ideas now that I seem to be having a random new issue with the ASUS monitor?
  8. @Pip313, I completed these steps in the order you specified and things have now gotten worse. Before I could at least see the monitors connected to my GPU in the control panel > adjust resolution module. Now only the screen attached to my mobo appears in the list. The following are still true... Negative: Only the monitor connected to my mobo's HDMI port displays video. Positive: In my MSI board explorer in BIOS the GPU is listed correctly. Negative: In the Screen Resolution settings in control panel whenever I try to save any settings for the monitors connected to my GPU I get an error message that the settings cannot be saved. Positive:Windows detects my GPU correctly and upon further inspection device manager reports that the drivers are working correctly. Negative: In my EVGA Precision XOC software I see GPU clock of only 139Mhz (this value seems to be frozen) and memory clock of 405Mhz (this value also stays steady as a rock) Positive: In my EVGA Precision XOC software I can control my fan speed manually Positive/Negative: When I first log in to windows the monitors connected to my 1070 exit power saving mode but only display the "check video cable connections" messages built into them, no video output from windows. The same happens ever time I unplug and replug any of the monitors - the monitor I replug receives a power signal from my GPU but not video data
  9. @jimkirk363 to clarify, do you mean one of the displayports on my 1070?
  10. I was able to solve my original problem on my own! I have since re-titled this thread to the new problem that seems to have arisen. This is where the new problem starts: Recently I was moving some monitor cables around and it appeared that the driver for my 1070 crashed. Most of the time the driver recovers and I can go on with life. However, this time it did not. My screens remained black for several minutes before I gave up and hard reset my machine. Now, my 1070 seems to be sort of screwed, but I am getting some conflicting signs so I'm hoping I can get some help here. What have I done so far? Uninstalled driver, restarted, reinstalled drivers, restarted again Conflicting messages: Negative: Only the monitor connected to my mobo's HDMI port displays video. The same happens ever time I unplug and replug any of the monitors - the monitor I replug receives a power signal from my GPU but not video data So it seems like my GPU is half fucked... but I don't understand how it can be sort of broken and sort of not, and have all of this caused by hot swapping monitors. Any ideas? Help! Thank you All in all this still seems like a driver issue, but i have uninstalled and reinstalled them several times to no avail. This is my work computer so I can't really just do a clean install of windows (I don't think it would exactly help either).
  11. Do the camera Pis need to be hard-wired? Or did I miss the part about wifi setup?
  12. Looks like MicroCenter was wrong, ASUS confirmed I need a separate CPU to use while flashing. Surprising as I would have expected MC to try to upsell me their services to perform the flash.
  13. What about the A320M-K? The part list above has the A320M-C, but that isn't the MOBO I'm going with at this point. A local MicroCenter rep. confirmed I should be able to flash via USB without a compatible CPU installed via EZ Flash... can anyone else confirm/refute?
  14. Looks like the ASUS Prime A320M-K can be EZ Flashed... https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-A320M-K/ https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1012815/ Seems like that might be my ticket to flashing that BIOS without the need for a boot kit or anything like that (?)
  15. I'm guessing there is a decent guide somewhere online for this? Or is it pretty straightforward? The note says that I will need a different CPU to upgrade the BIOS at all... is this true? I don't have spare parts laying around...
